How to Get There
We stayed at The Samaya Bali Ubud for 2 nights. This hotel is located in a ideal location. Surrounded by the luscious mountains and on the rivers edge.
Each morning we had breakfast at the Scene Restaurant. Our breakfast was delicious with lots of food on the menu to choose from.
The villa we stayed in was amazing. The pool was great, the room service was excellent.
The hotel offered a free shuttle run to Ubud Centre and a pick up anytime available.
The hotel staff were really lovely and friendly.
I highly recommend the morning trek walking tour which takes place at 8am which is organised by the hotel.
I’m looking forward to coming back and staying at The Samaya Ubud on my next visit.
We recently stayed here for four nights as part of our honeymoon and it was our favourite accommodation from our trip! As honeymooners we got a bathtub of rose petals, cake and a free couples 60min Balinese massage.
It was very quiet, tranquil and our hill side villa (top area of resort) was really spacious with big outside space, pool and cabana. Breakfast by the pool everyday was amazing. Really good food throughout. The Swept Away restaurant was beautiful and decorated with dozens of candles. We were the only couple there all night!
The spa was my favourite part of the stay, you get a discount if you're a guest and I had a few massages and a facial over looking a river view. The ladies who work at the spa are a credit to the place - you were all lovely and friendly and treatments amazing!! They are currently renovating the river side villas which didn't disturb us much other than occational high pitched drill. These rooms will be even more amazing when done!
Only a few negatives: our airport pickup was very late and we sat outside the airport waiting for 40 mins. The staff that butler you throughout the stay could sometimes be a bit too intense when we were just chilling out on holiday and playing things casual to relax! Good problem to have though, being too helpful!
Finally to the hotel ... PLEASE stop using plastic straws NOW! You were the only hotel using plastic straws we stayed in, we never used them at breakfast and kept refusing them and they kept coming! Please swap to paper or reusable aluminium/glass straws like the other hotels as soon as you can... Help make a difference!!
If we return to Bali we will 100% stay here again, it was absolutely fantastic!!! We've stayed in much more expensive places than this that were no where near as good. Thanks for an amazing honeymoon :)
Hubby and I were looking for a relax. We have been to Bali many times and last year we came to Swept Away restaurant for dinner and it was so good that we thought this would be a great place to relax and wind down for a while. Wow is really all I can say, from the time we arrived until the day we left we were treated like royalty. We stayed in a Hill view Villa for 8 days, this is longer then a most guests however we would have stayed longer if we could. The villa is private and had a view overlooking the rice fields, the pool is 1.8 metres deep and was in the sun so easy to go swimming. We ate breakfast at Scene restaurant each morning with a magnificent view and while we were at breakfast our villa was made up, the same at dinner. We took advantage of the shuttle to go to dinner and also into Ubud one day. This service was just fabulous, all we needed to do was use what’s app and they sent a car to pick you up We had 4 spa treatments during our stay and I must say these was some of the best massages we have ever had in Bali. We also ate at Swept away most nights and the once again the service and the food were top notch. On our last night the chef created a seafood degustation menu for us and as a surprise they sat us at one of the special tables they have with the heart candle lights. The chef had also made a special Balinese desert for us, Dadar Gulang and Klepon. Just delicious, he also had a present of palm sugar for me to take home. This had been arranged by the GM Putu as he said he didn’t want us to make a trip into Ubud just for this. We really can’t thank Putu and his team enough for the outstanding service they provided us, they called us by name and when it was time to leave they all gathered to say goodbye. This is the first time that we stayed the Samaya but it wont be the last, next year we hope to stay in the newly renovated Ayung Villas which we had a sneak peak at. Until next year. Sue and Malcom
As an Indonesian who frequently travels to many countries, visits Bali many times, it may not be exactly easy for me to admire a resort like Samaya. During my short trip (24-26 March 2019), however, I really enjoyed my stay at this Luxury Villa Resort.
Four reasons for this.
One, my Villa 105 was not only like a “home away from home”, but also gave a beautiful natural scenic view of Bali.
Two, located across a wide 5 hectare land housing only 19 villas, it’s huge, so huge that I never got a chance to see another villa.
I was really secluded. Full of privacy.
Three, the Breakfast – served at the Scene Restaurant gazing at Mount Batur in front and Paddy Fields below – was a luxury in its own right.
One Hundred Candle-Dinner at Swept Away, by the Ayung River was the most romantic setting I ever saw in my life.
Four, a tranquil spa complete with the natural sounds of Ayung Water is the best in Bali so far.
And the most important is the Balinese hospitality of all Villa Crews led by Putu Mahendra.
I will surely come back to stay in The Ayung River Villas at the Samaya, Ubud, which are being renovated now.
Two nights are way too short. Never Enough!
We were staying elsewhere in Ubud but went to Samaya for a massage and dinner. The spa was not exceptional but very nice with a great riverside setting. The real highlight was dinner at Swept Away, where we had booked a regular table but upon arrival were offered the "Special Romantic Hundred Candle Light Dinner" at a big discount due to a late cancellation. The name tells the story and it was quite an amazingly nice evening at a secluded table only about a meter from the river, surrounded by candles. The guy who had to light them all said it's actually more like 1,000 in total! Can't promise you'll get the discount we did, but it might be worth it for a memorable splurge.
