Peace and tranquility is easy to find in Bali’s spiritual heartland, but there’s something rarified about this particular retreat. Combining pared-back minimalism with distinctive Balinese character, Senetan Villas & Spa Resort is the perfect modern escape.
No need to pack light for a stay at this all-villa property; even the smallest villa category weighs in at an impressive 230 square metres, with a private pool and sun deck. With boxish, fresh-white walls, well-selected furnishings and kimonos to saunter about the space in, they’re designed with a discerning modern traveller in mind.
Of course, no hotel on the island would be complete without a very good spa. Break up your sleep-and-swim routine with treatments using organic indigenous ingredients, or book or a one-to-one yoga session with an instructor. Add to that the rustic restaurant serving homegrown garden veggies, and it’s a recipe for a thoroughly revitalising getaway.
How to Get There
We had the best time staying here during our roundtrip of Bali. The location is a little remote but the nature and silence makes up for that. They also offer a free drop off and pick up service to Ubud center!
The villa was really spacious and clean, big swimming pool and outdoor bathroom were awesome!
The food was great and the staff are all super friendly. Will surely come back another time!
We booked through Luxury Escapes, which made our stay good value, however I probably wouldn't pay full price to stay here. Not because it was terrible, just because it would be too expensive!
We really liked our room, it was spacious, and the bed was comfortable. The outdoor bathroom was pretty cool and beautiful to look at. The private pool was also great, although the water was pretty cold so we didnt get to use it as much as we would have liked. It would be nice if it could be heated, allowing greater use.
The staff were always very friendly and polite.
The food at the restaurant was decent, although we found the food in Ubud much better.
The shuttle bus to and from Ubud was good, however it definitely takes a good 45mins to get there due to traffic. This means that travel time takes a bit of a chunk out of you day.
We used the complimentary bikes on the last day. These are in poor condition and could do with an upgrade. The brakes make an awful noise, and the gears dont work. We were also given a "map" of a suggested route we could cycle. However the map did not look anything like reality, or google maps, and we got lost! This made for a bit of a stressful last day. Please give your guests a better map, with much more detail, as the one on offer is not adequate to use.
Otherwise we really enjoyed our time
Our villa was clean and spacious, a fabulous setting and the staff were so friendly and helpful. It is very very quiet so if you are after a fast paced environment this is not for you. We had a very relaxing time, the food was great, they supply plenty of water if needed. I would highly recommend staying here.
