How to Get There
Me and my wife stayed here for our honeymoon and Maya was the perfect stay. From the villa to the service, everything was very thoughtfully done and the staff very friendly. The restaurant served up some amazing food, which wasn’t expensive either. We also tried the spa and this was just what we needed after a busy wedding period. We only wish we spent more time at this resort, instead we did a lot of excursions. If you need a place to stay in Ubud, this place is worth every penny.
This hotel is undoubtably 5 stars! It’s grounds are stunning and immaculate, staff work hard day and night to keep the place pristine.
We stayed in a deluxe pool villa and considering we are in the jungle they did well keeping all the bugs away! We had a gheko in our room one day and the staff were soon round after a phone call to reception to remove it safely. The bath in the villa allows you to have your own flower bath experience with a menu left aside to choose which one. We were greeted with a congratulations cake on arrival and fresh fruit every day. Bottled water is also left each day and the mini bar is well stocked. We didn’t use our pool as it was in the shade most of the day and we feared what bugs would land in it being so close to the gardens.
The hotel staff are so polite and can’t do enough for you. Every single one greets you no matter how many times you walked past them! We loved the little touches that came with drinks like cookies with coffees and crisps with cocktails. We watched a few of the shows which were great fun, the buffets had a wide selection of food. We also ate in the river cafe one night and thoroughly enjoyed hot rock dining.
We didn’t use the hotel spa but it looked heavenly, the pools on site don’t provide enough beds for the capacity of hotel guests but if you want a good bed just do the standard - get up early! The hotel also provide a free shuttle bus in and out of ubud which was handy, we took advantage of this a few times!
Now, although I have give this hotel 5* there is always room for improvement. The hotel doesn’t have a shop on site for general necessities like tablets, toiletries or bigger bottles of water. They did well in providing what they could in the rooms but I always think it’s nice to have the option. Neither pools played music and although it was nice to relax within nature you felt like you couldn’t have a conversation with your partner because the whole pool was listening. My biggest disappointment was the price of alcoholic drinks/cocktails. My favourite is an espresso martini and I didn’t once enjoy one here as once tax and service charge was included the price of this drink would have been £15.65! Classic cocktails totalled £12.50 and spirits around £10 once with a mixer! I wouldn’t mind but some of them came and were only 3 mouthfuls! I’ve been to some high end restaurants around the world and not paid these sort of prices. I understand wages have to be paid but I think the hotel is making a mistake here, if they lowered the prices they’d sell and make much more.
Central ubud is only a short walk/drive away from this hotel and we spent our money here on 241 cocktails which were around £5 per drink! Even at full price you got 3 for what you were paying for 1 at the hotel. I’d have rather spent my money at the hotel but couldn’t afford to do so.
Aside the criticisms we had a great time, fully relaxed and recharged now off to our third part to our honeymoon. Thanks maya ubud we will certainly be recommending you!
Me and my wife are currently here on our honeymoon and are due to leave for Seminyak in the morning. We have enjoyed 5 nights here in a Pool Villa which is designed in true Balinese style and makes you feel part of the culture here. We would advise to get a villa as they are private, spacious and away from the main building so very quite night and day. The staff here are amazing cannot fault anything at all so attentive and polite at all times a true credit to this hotel. The grounds are stunning as well and very well maintained. Food is nice here however abit more expensive than we expected as all bills come with an added Government tax & service charge but the service charge is deserved as like i said before the staff work endlessly to make your stay a memorable one. Thank you Maya Ubud for a lovely stay
