Not good

We reached at the resort in the evening, still it took time to prepare rooms. The staff was also unfriendly. We stayed in a two room with pool villa. The rooms were ill maintained and there were mosquitoes inside. The room had a smell of dampness for which we had to ask the staff for room freshner every day. The room service was very bad. They did not provide with plates or cutlery for all the people in the villa. The breakfast buffet was also not up to the mark.

Wrong room, Involved in local taxi maffia, Horrible BBQ, Shuttle bus didn't wait for costumers, Terrible Cleaning

WRONG ROOM:
We arrived two hours before check in time. We had booked villa deluxe with private pool, which was more secluded from the other villas. They gave us another room, villa lagoon without consulting us, or telling us about it.

The villa lagoon which they gave us had a pool that was connected to the bigger pool, not a private pool which we anticipated. A lesser garden and the bathroom shower floor was all sticky with old soap, as if they hadn't clean at all, I myself had to spool hot water on the floor which removed most of the soap. That is said that a light scrub would've removed the old soap. The toilet was yellow and didn't flush well or sometimes not AT ALL. The towels we got were yellow stained. All this felt very disgusting, and we were not happy with the situation.

We called the reception asking why they gave us the lagoon when we booked deluxe, they themselves didn't seem to be aware of that we were given the wrong room. They told us they would recheck and call us later. They called us saying we were given another room due to a late check-in, as if they had given our room to someone else, which was complete bull cause we arrived 2h earlier than the check-in time. I stated very clearly that we arrived 2h early prior check-in time. They then changed their excuse to the water at the deluxe villa was running black, so they gave us another room, an upgrade, they told us that the lagoon would cost about 50(0?)USD more per night.

I can guarantee you that it sure didn't feel like an upgrade with the previous condition as i described earlier. I confronted them and told them exactly what i felt, also stated that if it was an upgrade, as a hotel that live on reputation and money you would like to make sure that their guest know that they were upgraded so they could flaunt about generosity when losing 50(0?)USD per night, which we were given zero information about.

We got our room with a lot of displeasing and no apology from their side, which in our eyes was a better room. Looking at the others reviews most people prefer the deluxe villa anyways.
A huge downside is that the Deluxe villa is near a rice field. They were burning grass every night we were there (5 nights) which made the room smell a lot. There were more bugs, which was fine by me, however it lives bat in the ceiling that pooped on our luggage. It is still better than the filthy lagoon villa.

BBQ NIGHT:
They later had a BBQ night which was really just plain meat on the grill, not even marinated, or sauce to go with the dry rice. Sure, they had side dish that had some moist in, but the meat itself was very boring and dry.

TAXI MAFFIA:
If you decide to stay with Furama or have stayed there before you'll notice that the neighbourhood road leading up to Furama is filled with pretty houses with pretty, tall, golden gates. That my friend is one of the taxi maffia village, this particular one is cooperating with the Furama specific, they're also the ones who have the shuttle bus agreements.

The bus were supposed to leave from Ubud to Furama at 15(min), we were at pick-up point at 13(min), they weren't there, they had left without us. We called the hotel, they arranged a taxi from the coopering village.

Before arriving at Furama you can see the sign of "Uber, Go-Jek" being illegal, it is of course not illegal to use uber, nor is it stated by any law that it is. The locals themselves put up those signs. It's so controlled to a point where even big companies as Blue Bird taxi group is prohibited in the Ubud area. How can they control it to this extent? They take picture of the uber/blue bird driver and hang them out on a closed facebook group. What happens next is guaranteed a beating.
The airport drop-off/pick-up cost at the hotel is beyond reasoning. Don't support their local maffia group, instead google "airport transfer bali" and you will get a transfer that is connected to the airport itself. We did this and it saved us about 10USD instead of going with Furamas taxi maffia.

CLEANING:
The cleaning was terrible! They don't clean so it could be clean, they clean so it would look clean. We stayed with them 5 nights, and not ONCE did they change our sheets, even though we tip everyday even at one point when we tipped 3x times the usual tipping amount, still nothing.

We later saw that the cleaner was sweeping the floor with a broom, then he later, with the same broom, used it to sweep the tables.
Furamas facility is beautiful, however the handling by the staff and quality served made it less enjoyable.

You can get more from a smaller hotel , but with right staff and serving, than you do at Furama.
Not worth it, not coming back.

Amazing surroundings, friendly stuff, poor service, disappointing food
Reviewed 2 weeks ago

A large family group spent just over a week at Furama Villas. The place is visually stunning, located amidst rice paddies with fitting architecture and several swimming pools.

Spa service was exceptionally good, although relatively pricey.
Staff was extremely friendly but service was generally very slow and lacking in delivery at the expected standard. Many did not understand or spoke much English at all.

House keeping: marketed as exclusive- villas were not as clean as they should have been, particularly the floors and toilet facilities.
Maintenance: several locks were jamming, making it very difficult to use the doors in the unit, including the shower door and the main entrance door. Our upstairs bedroom air conditioning unit was broken for the first 4 days (with 3 prompt attempts to fix it, two of which were very short lasting), making our nights almost unbearably hot. Ceiling fans were unstable and looked like they could detach any second, hence we didn't use them out of fear of suffering decapitation.

Food:
With the exception of breakfast, which was generally of reasonable quality (buffet), food was a massive let down: overpriced and very poorly executed, particularly the local dishes!!!.
Waiting times at the restaurant were unacceptably long (on one occasion we waited for 80 min for our meals to arrive- with 4 children under 8, only to discover that the chicken burgers from children's menu were way too hot for most "western" children to be ingested, with staff just politely smiling at us upon feedback, not even contemplating correction. Another standout was their beef rendang: by far the worst we have ever tasted, meat was as tough as a rubber sole!

Overall, very pretty setting, serene atmosphere, away from the hustle of many other tourist destinations. Slow service with a big smile :) Really LOVELY STUFF!, making maintenance and cleanliness issues "forgivable":)
Food was a major disappointment!

Very Good but looking a bit tired.

We stayed here 4 nights, looks like everyone else uses it as a short stay and as a base to other attractions nearby. Nothing nearby the hotel in the way of restaurants bit a free shuttle at set times to Ubud, if you need a taxi prices are about 100000 to 150000 to go there in a Taxi. Just little things let it down like faulty shower head and the odd bulb kept blowing. But still very pleasant stay.
