A quiet sanctuary away from the hustle of nearby Seminyak, Maharaja is an intimate collection of just 10 private pool villas. This luxury haven is ideally located within a quick, complimentary shuttle transfer away from some of southern Bali’s most fashionable haunts, and yet, within your walled garden, you’ll feel blissfully removed from the action.
Designed by accomplished architects, Maharaja Villas pays homage to Balinese traditional while incorporating a light and clean-lined, modern aesthetic. The on-site Zahra Spa does not disappoint, with its comprehensive menu of therapies and a focus on awakening natural ingredients like ginger, lemongrass, galangal and essential oils. Be sure to dine at Kayumanis – you’ll be treated to pleasant views of the local rice fields.
How to Get There
My husband and I stayed in a one bedroom villa which we got on a Webjet special. Very good value included airport transfers and Scoopon meals and massages. The villas are away from the touristy part of Seminyak but this is easy to get too if you want some nightlife and shopping. We enjoyed the privacy of the villas and the hospitality of the staff working there. Recommend the massages at the spa on-site good value and very relaxing. The meals were great, you could have them in your villa or at the restaurant overlooking the rice fields. Breakfast there were lots of choices and included fresh juice and fruit. Afternoon tea each day was a lovely touch. There are a few local places withing walking distance for lunch - Crust pizza and Scratch restaurant. Rooms were clean and spacious. The pool and gardens in the villa were beautiful. We enjoyed the outdoor living area but also the air-conditioned bedroom when the night was too warm. On our last day we did a day trip organised through the villas, very good and with your own private transport and guide. We would recommend Maharaja villas for anyone wanting the privacy of your own villa and the services that are included.
My husband and I stayed in the private king size villa for the first half of our stay. When we arrived near midnight we were greeted by a security guard who kindly showed us to our room. This was of course a little unsettling to begin with but were assured once we read our welcome letter addressed directly to us by name.
The next morning we met Yoga at reception who was so helpful throughout our stay and made sure we had everything we needed.
Breakfast was delicious and afternoon tea was a nice touch.
Every time we returned to our room we came back to a freshly cleaned room with valuable belongings all placed nicely next to our bed.
Thank you Yoga and Maharaja for a memorable stay. We hope to return again some day soon.
This was our final location after two other 5 star hotels in Bali through secret escapes. The villas were lovely, but staff seemed a little disorganised. There were a few communication issues which could have been easily fixed if they just asked us to repeat ourselves or explain further, instead of just nodding and saying yes.
The rooms are wonderful, completely private with nothing overlooking into your private pool. This is not suitable for children - there are no steps out of the pool. Had a beyond relaxing stay with my partner. I would say call up as soon as you finish your meals to get cups and plates cleared or you will have an ant problem.
If you miss the shuttle bus or want to go down to Double Six Beach in the evening they will call you a cab - this should cost you no more than 40,000 IR and on your way back make sure you get a metered cab. I recommend taking the 20 min ride down there as the beach is great fun night and day with cheap food and drink.
Started with such promise, the villas looked beautiful, the staff were friendly, welcoming and extremely helpful and kind, breakfast was on time and nice, and the afternoon tea we had the one day was also nice, but then, 2 days in we were just about to head out for dinner, and i decided to count my money again as i did when we arrived (i like to double check things constantly everyday when it comes to money) and i found that 11,500,000 idr was missing from my pouch, this was half of our holiday money, my other half thought that i had just miscounted so we went out for dinner and came back to count again and found that i hadn't miscounted, there is a safe provided but has along with it no instructions or anything and i managed to not be able to work it, so i hid the money elsewhere, so we decided to lodge a complaint late at night, but nothing could be done untill the manager was in the next morning, so we went back to the room and as you can imagine we both had a terrible nights sleep, the next morning came and we spoke to the manager, who took us to the local police station (who were useless by the way) he spoke to his staff who swore they had not stolen it, i question where could of it of gone then as i had counted the night previously and we had only spent 2 million so how could 11.5 million go like that, the managing director came along that day, who then asked propf of reciepts of the money we had bought over from england, and then laughed in our faces that we had bought half our rupiahs on the 4th March 2018 and the other half on the 20th March before we came, he seemed to find it strange how we bought the money in halfs, but i dont see how that is funny or strange, as that is just how our paydays worked out?! Found him to be rude and obnoxious and the least bit helpful as a 'managing director'. He refused refund for the remaining days, as we did not want to stay there at all so found another hotel and moved on (the best move we made) but suggested we contacted our travel agent to arrange this, which we did (secret escapes) who refunded us the remaining ten nights but wouldnt refund the 3 nights of hell we endured. Avoid at all costs, the managing director is the biggest c**k i have ever met. Unhelpful and rude. So many nicer places to stay for just the same price. My advice dont stay here
We booked the maharaja villas over Secret escapes and stayed 3 nights there. You’ll get a shuttle service to the hotel which is really good after a long flight.
The hotel is nice, very private and between nice rice fields. The staff there is pretty nice and always available.
First weird and not really cool thing is you have to choose your breakfast the night before if different choices. Only one is possible. You also have to tell them the time. That’s no vacation...
Food is really good, room service very delicious! Fruits are very delicious and the plates are nice served!
You get an afternoon snack about 4 pm which includes tea and yummy dessert...
So far so good the real negative fact is the cleanliness!
- When we arrived in the evening we were welcomed by a damn dirty bed! Blood stains, food prints and hair. We called them to change it, they came fast, opened the new one which is dirty as well! They didn’t noticed the big blood stain on the mattress!! After the 4th the bed was finally (nearly) clean.
- Also the wall in the room was printed with two oily big fat hand prints!
The afternoon tea service also came with a dirty cup with has coffee traces inside...
- When we had a Bali massage which was really good by the way I also smelled the scent of many sweaty faces before on the towel I was supposed to put my hand on...
They did a good job not good enough for our standards of neatness!
