Overview

Ultra-stylish villa complex overlooking the famous rice fields of Canggu

The Lowdown

Style-savvy guests have a lot to look forward to at this low-key but high impact resort in the tiny village of Canggu on Bali’s west coast. Not only will you be overlooking the famous rice fields, but you’ll be just over a mile from Echo Beach – the island’s most cherished surf spot that’s celebrated for its black sands, advanced reef breaks, sunset dining spots, and chilled-out vibe.
A cool choice for those who like their stays laid-back but luxurious, each of the five luxury-led villas are finished to a high spec. All come with Balinese-style décor and a better-than-average level of creature comforts, but it’s the extras that really impress; from outdoor verandahs for all-day lounging to gorgeous bathrooms with bathrobes, slippers and complimentary toiletries.
There’s no shortage of things to do here, either. Days can be spent relaxing by the palm-lined pool, enjoying massages at the little spa, kicking back with a glass of Balinese rice wine at the café-cum-bar, and sampling all sorts of Western and Asian gourmet delights. The staff are also super-helpful should you wish to organise car hire or bicycle rental for the duration of your stay.

Awesome place

We loved Planta. Stayed for 9 nights. Service was amazing especially from our Butlers comet and Gidya. Also the lovely lady there. We met the owners and they were fantastic. Nothing was too much trouble. Room was big and bed was so comfy. Surroundings were so peaceful. Breakfast was freshly cooked and different choice every day. Shuttle service twice daily and free yoga. Would highly recommend.

Wonderful stay

We had a wonderful time at Villa Planta. Very good sleep quality, very nice breakfast that change every day of the week (with two options every day), free yoga classes given at sister resort. The cherry on the cake was definitely the superb service of butlers - always available, reactive and very attentive! It was a first time for us but we will definitely come back!

Present moment in Canggu

I stayed at Planta with my partner and we absolutely loved it. It's peaceful and quiet heaven in busy Canggu. When we were in Planta I felt "being present in the moment". We couldn't almost believe that such a quiet place exists in Canggu! The service is just amazing (we were taken a great care by Koman and Gede and others). If you are looking for a peaceful place with great service in nature - Planta is your place! :-)

Home from home!

After staying in Kalapa for 15 nights ( Planta's sister hotel), we decided to spend the last 5 nights of our holiday in Planta Resort.
We instantly fell in love!
The design of the place is very stylish and modern with a Balinese twist.
Although there are 5 individual rooms/ bungalows set in the whole resort, we felt like we were staying in this huge luxurious villa and had it all to ourselves.
You can make use of the kitchen, so if you fancy a night in or prepare lunch to have by the pool, you can either ask the staff or you can do it yourself. We found this very helpful, when you are away for 6 weeks and don't always want to go and eat out, this villa was the best place to have a night in with a home cooked meal and a nice bottle of wine!
The living/ dining area is semi open with fantastic views overlooking the pool and the lush greenery.
The swimming pool is large enough to do your morning "lengths" and has an oversized fourposter day bed to lounge away the days.
Planta is very close to all the hustle and bustle of Canggu and we made use of the bicycles provided by the hotel to get us around.
They also provide a shuttle to the centre and the taxi prices to get around are very reasonable.
Same as with Kalapa, the staff were soo warm and friendly and couldn't do enough for you! Again we felt like part of the family.
One morning we were invited by the owners of Planta to a Balinese wedding which was happening 2 houses up from the hotel. What a fantastic experience this was and again shows you what a genuinely, hospitable people the Balinese are.
We are already planning our return trip next summer to Planta as it seriously WAS THAT GOOD!!!!

Beautiful but weird

We spent 3 nights in Planta at the end of our honeymoon. Here, design comes before functionality. There are glass walls in toilet and shower - who needs that? No reception, different butler every day and when you met a person you couldn’t be sure if they were guests or staff. When we arrived, we were not given enough information about the practicalities (breakfast, facilities etc.) and had to ask everything separately. On the last morning, after checking out, I accidentally found out that we had a bath tub, which was located in another floor. Safe in the room did not work (after we tried a couple of times with someone from the staff), there were no bicycles and the staff was not able to recommend any restaurants.

It wasn't all bad, for example there was a free shuttle (drop off) the central Canggu and a pick up was possible in a reasonable price. The room had a beautiful decor and there was a good speaker in the room for listening music. Also the pool area was really nice. Staff was friendly and helpful.
In short, even though this place did not meet our expectations, we were happy to stay there and had nice last days of our honeymoon. I would not not recommend it, however be sure what your expectations are so you won't get disappointed as we did.
