How to Get There
I went to the Ushuaia for their opening season party and to experience a very unique hotel. This hotel has many hidden gems from the individual suites and rooms with jacuzzis on the balcony to amazing decor in the fashion victim rooms. It’s a place that needs to be experienced at least once in your life, it’s an incredible experience.
Ushuaia is a amazing hotel with friendly staff and amazing services throughout the complex! BUT if you book the hotel I warn you to check the integrity of the bottles in the maxi bar and alcohol provided in the room!
On checking out we was told we was being billed for a bottle of wine and tequila for around 200€ ! Both bottles had damaged labels around the neck of the bottle , which was already like this on arrival.
When we refused to pay obviously we was challenged and told we could keep both the bottles which had not even been open but had damage to the plastic around the bottle neck!
Lesson learnt from this is 1. When checking in make sure a member of the Ushuaia management staff is with you to go through each bottle which is in the room !! The Maxi bar is not cheap but that’s up to you if you want to pay the prices they charge. This is also a clear indication that the staff do not check the integrity of these expensive bottles of alcohol and are happy to let the next customer pay !! Which is a absolute disgrace.
This was very disappointing from Ushuaia after a overall great experience and after 1 hour after check out and arguing with two members of staff they seen sense in our very valid point of not opening or even drinking the bottles of alcohol which we don’t even like !!!
Customers be careful you could easy end up with a massive bill...
I would like to share with you my experience at the Ushuaia, which I think falls pretty much below any acceptable standard for a 5* hotel.
As I was having breakfast Thursday 16 th of May morning, I had a bite of a canapè which was covered with small pepper bits. Unfortunately an olive (with all its stone) was not visible and it crushed my tooth really badly, leaving the nerve exposed.
I immediately alerted the staff about the problem and the F&B Manager came immediately to see me. He said he needed to check if their insurance was covering the event and asked me for some time and promised he would get back to me.
Surprisingly I was not offered any type of assistance.
Later on during the day I had to ask multiple times for updates, and no one was able to help nor respond.
Finally I asked to talk to the manager on duty (5 pm, no manager present... After insisting with the receptionist I get to talk with the deputy, a guy named Jordi). The guy started in a very defensive attitude, blaming me for biting an olive (his words: in Spain everyone knows olive have stones), no compensation offered and compete closure. He just handed over his biz card.
So, in the end: crushed tooth, no assistance, no empathy and I will need to pay for my surgery. I asked to have a report of what happened on the hotel paper, they never provided one although they promised.
Ok, this hotel has cool layout and great parties, but where is professional service, attention to client and friendly attitude?
A big no-no
We have been dithering over going to Ushuai for the last year, booked a long weekend as a package week before the season opened there as it was such a bargain, but that's where bargains finish, this hotel is in a class of it's own, BUT be prepared to have to spend, we stayed in a Tower room looking towards HRH, 7th floor fabs views, the Club was still being prepared for the season and looked a bit of a sorry eyesore. I can only recommend if you're counting pennies don't touch ANYTHING in the room with a logo on it, you'll be charged, the little tin of mints, the Nespresso coffee pods, all chargeable, don't complain about the noise, it's a party hotel (and a good one) if you find yourself here and it's not your cup of tea that's your fault, this place is amazing made more so by the staff, the fact we spoke Spanish I think helped hugely but the we found them all nothing but attentive and friendly (we ain't no rich 25 year old models !!, more comfortable, cuddly and 50) special mention to the breakfast both the spread and the staff, we spent 3 hours at breakfast one day !!, only reason it lost a star was the coy way chargeable items are not labelled so and the aircon, it's atrocious it's May and only 24 degrees, but our room got the sun all afternoon/evening and getting ready to go out was like getting ready in a sauna, it was reported to reception and nothing happened, no one came (that we know of, and it certainly did not improve), and when the beach staff came round asking if we'd like drinks and offered us a glass of Sangria, we got a bottle of bubble and a jug of fruit/liquor at 64 euros, so again always ask "cuantos ?" easier than fighting in reception as I was over having 6 Nespresso pods removed from my bill, but we will be back, when the club is open and we can experience the whole Usuaia
love that place!!! its everything you could possibly wish for !! the breakfast is unbelievable
and of course the nightlife is out of this world
not chep but you get what you paid for
can't wait to go back again
