Brand new El Ganzo brings a touch of urban edginess to Los Cabos via loft-style interiors and a laid-back seaside vibe Ernest Hemingway might dig (the writer was the inspiration behind the hotel’s signature rum cocktail, the Papa Doble). Though small, the 72-room property offers plenty of hipster hangouts — two pools, a spa, a library, a Japanese fusion and sushi restaurant and a rooftop bar — decorated with raw materials such as exposed stone, wood and concrete. Flip-flop-wearing beauties armed with iPads (in every guest room) swing from hammocks at the sea-level deck, where a firepit keeps things cozy after sunset.
Bed & Bath
Rooms are unfussy but comfortable, with bright white walls, stone floors, white paneled sofas and sitting areas separated by barn-style wooden sliding doors. Beds, which are draped in 300-thread-count white linens, also have wood headboards. Not for the timid, the glass-walled rainfall showers are in plain view of the bed. Your attention, however, will be drawn outward to the floor-to-ceiling windows and private balconies overlooking the yacht-filled marina.
The lobby lounge is the hip heart of the hotel. Here you’ll sit on comfy red sofas while sipping hand-crafted cocktails and listening to resident musicians. On the roof there’s an infinity pool with a view, as well as a pool bar where the party goes on until the wee hours.
How to Get There
El Ganzo is a very unique and special hotel. It was founded by people who wanted a more creative, open world. There is unique art throughout the hotel. Some of it is excellent, some of it is funky, and all of it is creative/ unique! The world needs more places like El Ganzo. It's the opposite of a Marriott, cookie cutter type of hotel. This hotel has personality, soul and it's also run by individual operators rather than a corporation. It's both more fun and fulfilling to support places like this!
It also has a great upstairs pool and jacuzzi, and taking the boat ride just across the bay to the beach is a nice little fun touch. Highly recommend staying there.
Spent my first time in Cabo and this area is completely different from expectation. The views over the bay, rooftop pools, private beach and sunset views overlooking tropical trees with small mountains in the background give it a magical feel. I loved the creative energy in the space and in another life can imagine writing a great novel or composing an album (hello private music studio) in this space. Can't wait to make it back to El Ganzo next year!
Spent a weekend at El Ganzo in October and was blown away by this art-infused boutique hotel in Cabo. Unlike anywhere I've ever stayed down in Baja, definitely a unique feel with none of the tacky resort vibes that most places have down there. Spa services were excellent, food was outstanding and the services was top notch.
If you want a different flavor to your Cabo experience -- one packed with unique art, music and food -- El Ganzo is the right choice.
