Brand new El Ganzo brings a touch of urban edginess to Los Cabos via loft-style interiors and a laid-back seaside vibe Ernest Hemingway might dig (the writer was the inspiration behind the hotel’s signature rum cocktail, the Papa Doble). Though small, the 72-room property offers plenty of hipster hangouts — two pools, a spa, a library, a Japanese fusion and sushi restaurant and a rooftop bar — decorated with raw materials such as exposed stone, wood and concrete. Flip-flop-wearing beauties armed with iPads (in every guest room) swing from hammocks at the sea-level deck, where a firepit keeps things cozy after sunset.
Bed & Bath
Rooms are unfussy but comfortable, with bright white walls, stone floors, white paneled sofas and sitting areas separated by barn-style wooden sliding doors. Beds, which are draped in 300-thread-count white linens, also have wood headboards. Not for the timid, the glass-walled rainfall showers are in plain view of the bed. Your attention, however, will be drawn outward to the floor-to-ceiling windows and private balconies overlooking the yacht-filled marina.
The lobby lounge is the hip heart of the hotel. Here you’ll sit on comfy red sofas while sipping hand-crafted cocktails and listening to resident musicians. On the roof there’s an infinity pool with a view, as well as a pool bar where the party goes on until the wee hours.
How to Get There
This is a quiet, quaint boutique hotel tucked away in San Jose del Cabo. Funky art painted on the walls and a beautiful view of the Ocean.
When you have friendly, warm people that work at the hotel, it always makes your experience that much better and personal. Ronald Cruz is that guy, Director of operation, Hotel El Ganzo is lucky to have such a guy. Thank you for your hospitality
Travelling all the way from New Zealand we had a great time here at Hotel El Ganzo. The staff were friendly on arrival and We found it a great place to get away from the busyness of the big chain resort hotels. The rooms were clean and well laid out with fast wifi and a relaxing bath. We enjoyed walking around the marina area and found lots of local shops to explore. The only disappointing aspect of our stay here was the food which was expensive and not that amazing when compared to the surrounding local options close by. Overall though an impressive place to stay and will come back again when over this side of the world again.
This was our first trip to El Ganzo, but I can start this review by saying, we will be back. Unlike other hotels in Cabo, El Ganzo is steeped in culture and does an unparalleled job of bringing in the local community. The rooms are comfortable and well-appointed, the staff is friendly, and the view from the pool is perfect. One highlight is the hotel beach, which is a great place to relax and hang out all day. The local town of San Jose is a nice evening adventure for some delicious authentic food and a walk around the cute town. The hotel can provide recommendations of other great restaurants to visit while in the area that won't require you to travel into the "party side" of Cabo.
