How to Get There
Great place to get away , really nice accomodations , super strong wi-fi
Outstanding customer service and the best restaurant of the entire town of Tecate
All the food was fresh and with the best quality of Ingredients
The photos look great. Not much to do, the restaurant was closed and the opened a small space for the very few clients. They were more into selling Real State that to run a Hotel.
We asked for a massage and they never returned our call, we wanted to ride horses, and first they showed us some beautiful horses, but nop, no for lease, and when we saw the other horses, better no, thanks.
Our room was very small, with just an interior window, even though the hotel was empty, Did I say that we were almost the only ones? Nice bed, though, with minibar and Coffeemaker. We were expecting a lovely weekend, and we just tried to stay out of the hotel as much as we could.
Not a bad place, but nothing to remember.
We are Gold Members of RCI and have been so for over 20 years. And, we have been coming to Mexico since the early 90’s.
Rancho Tecate” was a resort”…now a ranch in need of lots of attention. The actual hotel offers 12 rooms, a restaurant and a pool.
Positives…this spectacular 100+ year old, 1600 acre ranch has wonderful views of the Tecate Valley. The ranch is 10 miles south of the City of Tecate on the way to the Valley of Guadelupe. Like most Mexicans who work in the service industries, the staff was very friendly and helpful though lacking polish.
Negatives…having been to multiple resorts over the years in Mexico, this is not a boutique hotel or a Gold Resort! The ranch is in need of multiple renovations and many of the present renovations are not up to the standards we have come to expect in other Gold Mexican resorts or for that matter in other parts of the world. Even though the hotel was mostly empty during our stay, we were not offered any of the suites/rooms that were featured on the website for example. The property’s focus seems to be on selling the 300+ building lots and not the hotel. The restaurant that was marketed as posh and gourmet was far from it! The menu was limited and the food was average at best. Frankly, it was very hard to understand that this property has been designated as a Gold Resort three years in row as witnessed by the plaques in their lobby!
We always stayed at another well-known hotel in the region, but this time they were full and we decided to look for another option and Rancho Tecate seemed attractive to us.
the reception is very cozy but the rooms are a little lacking, at least on the one that we stay, nothing to do with the photos on the website, for the price they have we was expecting something better. Out room had a door that communicates to another room totally in bad taste to be listening to what was happening in the room next door.
We asked the receptionist the time and price of the Sunday brunch and she told us that they had a special for father's day which was $450 pesos and I ask her what is the normal price and she told me that $350 then what is the special? She does not know well the concept of "special"
The staff are very friendly and helpful. They were always eager to take great care of us. It's a great place to get away and enjoy the culture south of the border. The rooms are quality and clean and the breakfast at the restaurant was delicious. We also had a lot of fun going into town to different restaurants and grocery stores. I recommend this place.
