Traveled to Mexicali for work. First time traveling to this part of Mexico and first time traveling for work solo. The hotel is beautiful. Rooms are a bit dated but overall cleanliness and sense of security exceeded expectation. The staff makes you feel like you are at home and go out of their way to greet you by name. Was especially impressed by Alejandra, Efrain, Antonio, Ken and Jesus.
Alejandra was the best! First day I was here, she was my server..had explained that on my keto diet, cannot (sadly) have the breads/starches. Went back for dinner two nights later and not only did she greet me by name, she said they usually bring bread to the tables but she knew I didn’t want any and didn’t want to tempt me again! Lol! On top of that, I had only ordered one bar drink but she immediately asked if I wanted the same specific thing—down to the amount of ice, brand of liquor.. she was on it.
Hotel Lucerna has been nothing but spectacular. If you are traveling to Mexicali, the hotel, their accommodations, and the staff are exceptional.

Couple's Weekend Getaway

Came here for a weekend getaway the hubby and I. Today is our first day here and it's already been disappointing! We had plans to park our car and not leave the premises for the entire weekend making use of the entire facility. At 6pm we get to their outdoor sports bar to watch the Dodgers-Nationals playoffs and turns out that their multiple tv's don't have the capacity to show different games. Long story short, they were showing some other game and we ended up driving to Applebee's where they too have multiple TV's with the capacity to show different games to please all customers. We return to the hotel with coffee with plans to sit out by the pool when we immediately get approached by security saying the area is closed. We ask him if we can at least finish our coffee and says yes all awhile standing there making us feel uncomfortable. Day 1 and we have not been able to enjoy the premises. Bad, Bad, Bad!
