How to Get There
We loved everything about our stay at the hotel. It lived up to all of the positive reviews we had read prior to booking. The location is perfect, just a quick 10 minute Uber ride from the border. Upon arrival we were greeted with a friendly smile from Roxanne on the front desk and swiftly checked-in and personally shown to our room by the courteous Bellhop. The room was spacious, clean and well appointed. There was an in-room safe. There are a few restaurants on the property but with the time we had there we only was able to eat at the Terraza bar and the buffet - both were exceptional value for money. The grounds are very well maintained with two crisp and clean pools. There are plenty of great restaurants close by serving all kinds of cuisine - all within walking distance. There's plenty of micro breweries to check out if that's your kind of thing! We were so relaxed by the end of our stay that we've booked to go again next month.
Highly recommended and such great value for money.
I was there for 4 days and had dinner there also a couple times with clients. Everyone was attentive and helpful, housekeeping and front desk did a great job as I had several requests. I will definitely stay here the next time I am in town.
We have stayed here many times over the years and continue to return. The hotel is safe, clean and comfortable. We have stayed here with our kids and more recently just my husband and I since the kids are all off in college now. We have never had any bad experiences and have pleasant memories staying at this property.
The restaurant, bar and pool area are all nice and clean.
Room service is delicious!
This hotel was really nice. The room was clean, the amenities were great, and the landscape was beautiful. But the staff is very dishonest. I left a bag of sentimental valuables my last day at the hotel. Later that night I called and they told me only the cleaning staff has access to the lost and found and I would have to call the next day. The next day my dad called and they told him that nothing had been found. Later that day my mom called and they told there he room had not been cleaned yet, and when they looked nothing was found. It very disappointing that 3 different stories had been told to us about our belongings. Clearly they had been found and whoever found them had no intention of notifying us. If you stay at this hotel make sure to triple check and lock your valuables up. If you don't it's not likely you'll see them again.
We came into town for a couple days to watch an Aguilas game and visit some breweries, and Lucerna was a marvelous base of operations. Daniel and Antonio got us checked into the room and both were great guys--thankfully both were bilingual as our Spanish is still a work in progress. The room was spacious and clean, with a very comfortable bed and ice cold AC. Strong and fast wifi. The room we were in overlooked the bar--it closes at a reasonable hour but they also started the music pretty early on Sunday morning so you may want to avoid bar-adjacent rooms if you're not an early riser. The grounds were more resort-like than we expected and we witnessed multiple wedding parties over the course of two days. There are plenty of services near the hotel like a bank and markets, and the neighborhood seemed safe--we walked back from Cerveceria Puerco Salvaje one evening and it was a perfectly pleasant stroll. Note that Lucerna's pools are not heated so you'd have to be incredibly brave to jump in in November. Upon checking out, our Uber back to the border was 67 pesos. I would readily stay here again if returning to Mexicali.
