How to Get There
What an amazing, special place. If you're looking for "fancy", this might not be your best bet - There are no marble floors or expensive art or grand staircases. But if you like "barefoot luxury", then you'll love this place. We stayed four nights in a Ocean Front Duplex Villa and didn't once put shoes (or sandals) on during our 5-day stay (except for slippers at the spa, which we visited every day). There are hundreds and hundreds of 5-star hotels around the world, but very few that could possibly be as secluded-feeling as the Six Senses Con Dao. If we saw even one other person on the beach with us, we would be shocked. It felt like the entire hotel was ours and only ours. The staff and service, as you would expect, are beyond extraordinary and they make everything so smooth and effortless that there's no way to stress about anything here - Water glass below half-full? Here's some more. Want to push back your massage a couple hours? No problem. Want to rent a scooter for a couple hours to tour around the island? I'll have it waiting for you upfront. Want to use the gym before it opens? Just let us know what times. So great. The Ocean Front Duplex (Villa 108), in my opinion, was the best option. The price savings to stay in Ocean View was not nearly enough to merit staying off the beach. We walked the beach to every meal, to every activity, as often as we could. And we jumped in the water before/after everything we did. I would not want to be more than the few steps from the beach that we were. And I think the Duplex just allows for more seating options, maybe more privacy, etc. Fantastic stay. It didn't matter what the weather was, we loved it every minute of every day. The only minor item was that we had planned to dive/snorkel and since the weather was erratic, the harbor was closed for all tourist boats. That was maybe a minor bummer, but we had such a great time that by the end of our stay, we were actually glad we didn't spend a day out on the water. Definitely would stay here again in a heartbeat. PS. It looked like they might be doing some renovations in places, so it may be worth asking in the future if there are "newer" villas".
We spent a week at the Six Senses Con Dao in May. We stayed at the Ocean View Duplex Pool Villa with great views and its own private plunge pool. The villa was absolutely stunning and if you'd like you can spend all your time there without having to go to any other areas of the resort.
The staff were incredible - all of them so warm and friendly. Special mention to Andrew (Our GEM), Grey, Gin & Thanh. They were all amazing and made sure we had everything we needed.
We love Six Senses resorts and overall we had a great time. Would definitely recommend the Six Senses Con Dao to anyone visiting Vietnam.
Though it's an off-the-grid location – it's quite easy to get to from Ho Chi Minh City.
Thanks to everyone at Six Senses for making our holiday extra special :)
My husband and I travelled to Vietnam for our Wedding Anniversary in late May-June
For the first part of our holiday we wanted to travel somewhere beyond the crowds and because of the season we were conscious of the weather... Well we couldn’t have chosen any better than Six Senses Con Dao - Amazing!!!
The resort and scenery is simply stunning, from the mile long (mostly empty) beach, the warm sea, the weather, the forest, the wildlife to the villas, private pools, the dining, excursions, spa, and not forgetting the Ice cream that is included - The resort is just spotless and perfection!
The rooms and resort in general have a rustic feel but this just adds to the charm. The staff light mosquito coils at night and the bed has a net. Yes I did get bitten but nothing compared to other resorts we’ve stayed in, just take your spray :)
Six senses Con dao treated us to little touches for our Anniversary which was just so lovely, Love and thanks!!
I will say above everything the Staff make this hotel exceptional, a greeting every time, a smile, their friendly manner and conversation - They really do go above and beyond! When I was Ill the first day due to heat exhaustion the resorts nurses attended me and were genuinely concerned, again many thanks for sorting me out!
When you arrive you’ll be given a GEM, and they are! Harry was our GEM and he was like a magician, anything you want to organise can be arranged through your GEM. Harry you’re the best!
A special mention to our Spa ladies, Quy, Sunny and the girls :)
If you’re looking for R&R in paradise don’t hesitate to book six senses Con Dao, you won’t be disappointed!
My partner and I stopped at Con Dao as the second destination for our trip in Vietnam.
At the airport we were immediately greeted by Six senses staff and were efficiently transferred to the resort.
Upon arrival we were greeted by the managers at the entrance sitting area, and were served delicious juice and fruit. We were then introduced to our GEM Andrew, who helped us throughout the entire stay at six senses.
Andrew escorted my partner and I to our room Via electric car. We booked the ‘Ocean front duplex villa’ which included our own private pool and direct access to the beach. Absolutely stunning
The downstairs bathroom is the most coziest bathroom i have ever seen. Almost everything in the Villa is eco friendly which gives you a very earthy vibe.
The bathroom has a nice selection of amenities and they provide citronella mosquito spray, aloe for sunburns and lemongrass body cream.
Many of their products are hand made and all from natural plants. I had a very bad sunburn and the aloe definitely helped.
The bedroom is super cozy and the bed is the most comfortable bed i have ever slept in. They give you a list of pillows and utensils they can provide for you, you just need to tick the things you’d like and they will deliver it to you during the turn down service. They have a large selection of pillows and i would definitely recommend the body pillow as well as the small peppermint scented bags for the best sleep of your life.
The bed comes with a mosquito net over it and the turn down service will light a mosquito ring so you get the ultimate protection from nasty bites.
The TV has netflix so you wont be bored in your bedroom. There is a mini coffee machine and a nice selection of dilmah teas. Upstairs also has a small toilet so you wont need to go downstairs in the middle of the night to do your business.
The water bottles are glass and Six senses refills them with their own crystal filtered water, so no plastic bottles which is awesome. If you do want drinking water on the go, the gym has water bottles for you to take.
Our first day for lunch we ordered a margarita pizza through room service. The flavour was very simple but full.
For dinner we dined at the Vietnamese restaurant outdoors. The resort is very dimly lit as to prevent any light pollution (the island is also a military base) but it gave a very peaceful vibe with fairy lights in the trees.
The food overall is not as cheap as other vietnamese restaurants you may have been to but it wont break your bank. I highly recommend the fish burger at the main restaurant for lunch. Super fresh tasting, nothing like ive ever had before.
Also really love the pork Banh Mi.
Six Senses also provides many activities on resort ground and off.
At the beach there is kayaking, standing rowing etc. there is also table tennis, mini golf and darts.
My partner and I decided to do snorkeling so we called Andrew and he arranged a booking for us. The snorkel guide picks us up and drops us off so there is no hassle for transport. Snorkeling was very fun aside from seeing the bleached corals.
Everyday six senses will create new ice cream flavours and theyre available for free between 11am and 6pm, i personally really enjoyed the banana and caramel flavour.
Overall our stay was terrific, Everything was perfect up until the last moment. Leaving the resort i was definitely very sad and already planning the next time I’d like to visit Six senses in Con Dao.
Really miss Andrew and the team. Thank you all so much.
We stayed at the Six Senses from the 10-13 May, 2019.
We had a beachfront, one bedroom duplex Villa.
We landed in Con Dao, which is a tiny, Vietnam war built, airstrip. The baggage was out in 10 mins. There is a six sense counter, inside the airport, next to the baggage belt. We were received there and our baggage taken to the transport, which was standing right outside the airport exit.
The drive to the resort was gorgeous. The roads and empty and the surroundings green. After a while, there is sea on one side and lush green mountains on the other side.
We were greeted by the GM of the resort, who is a lovely bloke. It took 5 mins to check in. The Check-in was done by our GEM(guest experience manager), who will take care of all your needs while during your stay.
GEM - our GEM was Vee, who was super friendly and extremely helpful. She helped us plan activities, made suggestions and made every effort to make our stay comfortable and personal. (When we go back again, and we will, we request that Vee stays as our GEM).
Villa - the villa is absolutely gorgeous. The bedroom is on the top floor (same level as the road that leads to it) and then the bathroom, which is massive, is on the floor below. Outside the bathroom is a patio with the pool infront and the steps leading down to the beach.
Food - we did a full board (American plan). The breakfast is very well laid and is served on the restaurant on the beach. It is absolutely stunning.
The restaurant has 2 managers, Mo’ath and Dhruv. Both of them are extremely polite and give you personalised attention. It was great having a conversation with them. Dhruv suggested things we could do including touring the city (which we did) and Mo’ath gave us his personal number and offered to help us on our next trip to Jordan (he’s Jordanian). Very pleased to meet both of them. A shoutout to Lai for also making our stay pleasant.
Beach - absolutely gorgeous. Serene and secluded. During our stay the beach was almost always empty and hence was great to be on the beach all alone, as a couple. The seawater is warm and very comfortable.
The Vietnamese restaurant at the resort also makes fresh, great food! It has an open layout.
One day we took a motorbike (rented from the resort) and drove around the island, which is absolute gorgeous.
We would definitely go back again. Ideally, the best time and weather to go is Feb to April. (We’d do that again).
There is a beach, on a separate island, nearby where the turtles come and lay eggs. This happens in end May to June (some also do that on the beach of this resort). It would be worth seeing the baby turtles hatch, though this time doesn’t necessarily have the best weather.
Again a big thanks to - Vee, Mo’ath, Dhruv and Lai
