How to Get There
"I'm staying at the airport" is generally not a happy statement. In fact, I seriously considered making a reservation somewhere less expensive and closer to the city. However, when I awoke before 4 for a 6 AM international flight, I was SO happy to be just steps away from where I needed to be. This decision became even more significant after I heard people in line at security discussing being stood up by their pre-paid ride at 3:30 that morning. They were very concerned the time taken to find new transportation was going to make them miss their flight, and rightfully so. Simply put, if you don't want to worry about getting to the airport, this is the place to be. The rooms were very clean and quiet, and the bathroom was nicely appointed. The brief walk to the airport was clean, and well-lighted. My meal at the restaurant was only OK and a little pricey, but I wasn't staying there for the food. My only real complaint (and this is minor, but nonetheless it matters) is that there wasn't a gift shop on-site, so my search for after-dinner chocolate meant a walk over to the airport. Would I stay here again? Not if I want to immerse myself in the sights of Athens, but if I had a morning flight, I wouldn't consider going anywhere else. Peace of mind. Clean, safe environment. Welcoming staff. Staying here was a great decision.
We stayed here for one night returning from a Crete as we had an early flight back to USA. The location made it very simple. The room was clean, the staff very friendly and most importantly it was closest to the airport. We were traveling with our 4yo and they made sure to have a small bed in our room ready for him as well.
They recommended some nearby restaurants to have our last meal in Greece and even arranged free transport to a nearby Taverna on the water.
The stay was a bit pricy, but worth it for the convenience in the early morning in my opinion.
I would do it again ????!
We were disappointed in this hotel at the Athens Airport. This review is rather negative, but I understand from a conversation with staff that the hotel is due for renovation soon, so much of this may be addressed.
We chose the hotel for its location just a short walk from the airport.
At check-in we were not asked for a credit card. I did not question this. However when we went to the restaurant for lunch, we learned that we could not charge it to the room. We paid cash, and I remedied this at the front desk so we could enjoy cocktails and dinner later without needing to handle cash or credit cards.
The room at first glance is spacious and attractive. However when it comes to using it, it was not user friendly. Only one place was provided for luggage in this room meant for 2 people and therefore likely two suitcases. There was plenty of space for a portable luggage rack, but none was available when we asked. We made due by opening one case on the floor. With awkward luggage access, one would like to use closets and drawers. There was one very small closet and no drawers. The minibar was locked (we don't usually use the mini bar) and TV didn't seem to work or we just did not know how to use it. There was mold in the shower.
We paid for location, which was too much considering how we had to "make do" in the room.
I sincerely hope the renovations create rooms where the traveler can open his case, sort out his things for the next day, charge his devises, and relax. As is, it is ok for one night before take off, but I would not recommend for a longer stay.
