Won’t be back.

Very disappointing. Even though the staff was very friendly and professional (Nikos at the Front Desk and Mario at Artemis), the hotel in general is far from what you’d expect from a Sofitel. I always pick Sofitel in Europe and was never disappointed until this time. First, I always come for the amazing mattresses (SoBeds). My room did not have any (they’re at every Sofitel and MGallery in France). Second, the spa area was so bad we left after 10 minutes. The pool was super cold. Lots of kids screaming in it. No hot tub/steaming rooms. Dirty area, lots of used towels everywhere on every chairs. It’s a fantastic idea to have a spa/pool but this needs to be improved. Add these amenities and come up with an entry fee, maybe 20/30E? All business travelers (you majority of customers) will be thankful. Then the room... corridors with dirty cigarettes smoke (almost like an old Vegas hotel). The rooms ans carpets are falling apart. Was in room 232, Shower would constantly go from burning Hot to Cold (dangerous). I give to stars. One for the unbeatable location (which explains why you have so many customers), the second for the friendly staff. Will most likely not be back.

Dry good front staff.....room a bit dated. For five star rating but still comfortable and quiet which was important to us. Lovely bed and shower. Very busy foyer but nice to wait instead of airport. Nice to just walk across road.

Pricey hotel that trys to hit the mark

I have mixed feelings on this hotel. It wasn't bad but it wasn't great and for the price of the room it should have been better. A few positives: it's across the street from the airport which was hugely convenient and made my morning stress free. The room also was very quiet which is very important to me. I didn't hear one plane, nothing. That was great. A few things that bothered me: the stools at the bar are so low it's weird. The counter comes up to your chest and I'm 5'9 so not short it was just like huh? Didn't anyone measure these or sit here first before implementing these? Also the coffee at the hotel stinks. Really like ugh terrible coffee. Also the food at the restaurant is not very good, at least what I have. (skip the scrambled eggs, they're disgusting). The room is nice but feels a little dated. There were no USB ports and it was just a bit awkwardly arranged. The mattress felt old and not very plush. The sheets were rough, the pillows felt cheap and the plugs were in weird areas. In any case, with all of that said, I think they just missed the mark on the details and I would care nothing about any of these things had the room not cost me $500 for the night. Overall though it was worth it for the convenience and not a bad hotel.

It’s been better

We have stayed many, many times at this hotel. It is without doubt convenient to the airport and the rooms are very comfortable. Over the years the prices have fluctuated but I can see that with the recent renovations that many things have changed, and unfortunate not for the better.
On both our recent stays, we were given the original rooms. No problem as I believe the original rooms are still very good. Wonderful beds, bathroom and spacious. In the past our loyalty has been rewarded with a higher floor, and extra bottle of water in the room, some chocolates. But our loyalty seems to hold little significance any longer.
The breakfast is still the best! No matter where else we have been around the world, the food quality and the staff in the breakfast restaurant are magnificent.
Unfortunately the negative changes have tainted our stay. The housekeeping staff were loitering in the hallway and taking up all the room and making no attempt to clear a passage for us with two suitcases and a carry on. Not a greeting let alone an apology. And our room was without tissues or enough toilet paper. We had to go back out to see them to get supplies.
The staff in the bar need to up their customer service skills. It seemed customers were an inconvenience to them and they were certainly in no hurry to attend to the tables. And when our drinks were finally ordered and eventually poured, they sat on the bar waiting to be delivered to our table for at least five minutes. Flat beer was finally delivered without even a smile or an acknowledgement. And then the pleasure of paying a smalll fortune for it.
You will see that I have written many positive reviews about this hotel over the years, but I have to say that the overall disappointment, when paying such a hefty tariff, forces me to write this negative review.
Don’t just trade on your convenience Sofitel, pick up your service skills and make it a pleasure to be in the hotel. It deseves it.

Overnight stay for airport convenience

We stayed at the Sofitel because of its airport location because of an early morning departure the next day. Service was fine, room was more than adequate, and the fitness center was small but good, although we didn't use it.
