How to Get There
The rooms need serious renovation and restructuring. I've stayed there in the past and I got a better impression. It seems that it's going downhill. I wouldn't give it more than a 4star rating. Not a good value for money
We went to Grecotel Cape Sounio 4 or 5 times in the last 3 years always taking a nice Poseidon Villa with Pool.
The property itself is nice and the view is amazing.
However the general level of service of the hotel and its management is relatively poor and has been going downhill, especially in high season.
Some employees go the extra mile but in general it feels more like an ok 4* resort than a luxury 5* resort - which was what we were looking for, especially when you pay close to 2000€ per night…
When we said at check-out that we were disappointed with the service nobody felt concerned… On top of that we had taken a half-board option. And twice, we dined at the bar, and we were explained that the half-board option didn't cover the bar and that you had to dine in the restaurant to benefit from the half board discount.
Honestly, I don't give a damn, the half board option is either free buffet dinner or 20€ discount per adult and 10€ discount per kid on the bill of the other restaurants when you dine there. But it was the cherry on the cake of our disapointment
We spent 4 nights at Cape Sounio and left with a bill of more than 10,000€... We dined and ate at the hotel for every meal, ordering bottles of wines, etc. etc.
When you complain that the service you receive was not good value for money I would have expected some response, instead of that seeing that the guys don't even give you the half-board discount for each day felt close to insulting….
I understand that we didn't eat at the restaurants but at the bar, but SERIOUSLY?
But again, our disapointement was not about that, but a level of service not in line with the money paid. Had we paid a 1/3 of what we did I would have let it slide. But this is not good value for money.
Very nice hotel as part of Grecotel chain
Superb location in front of ancient temple of Poseidon
Very good service all around at the beach and the pool
Very nice food in all restaurants
Very close to Athens just half an hour drive
Reasonable prices for a five star hotel
