Enchantingly remote beach retreat with a Nick Faldo–designed golf course on the shores of Lang Co Bay

The Look

Set between mountain and sea, this lush seafront resort in central Vietnam combines an off-the-grid location with the kind of upscale resort amenities (an award-winning spa, a Nick Faldo–designed golf course) you’d expect from the Banyan Tree brand. Pitched red-tile roofs and open courtyards dot this romantic retreat, a modern twist on the traditional garden houses found in nearby Hue. Earth tones are accented by splashes of purple, and latticework wall panels are inspired by the patterns that decorate Hue’s citadel walls.

Bed and Bath

All 56 rooms are set in lush private gardens, with infinity pools and secluded lounge areas. Inside, the designer digs feature intimately lit bedrooms with billowy curtains and bamboo floors with a striking botanical motif. A state-of-the-art in-room entertainment center provides an ambient soundtrack, making it easy to unwind. Large windows offer garden views from every angle (including from the shower, toilet and tub), and bathrooms are equipped with tropically scented products. Lagoon Pool Villas offer the best views (number 120 hogs the limelight), while the identikit beach villas (which are not exactly on the beach) offer superior gardens with a Jacuzzi and a shaded pavilion.

Breakfast is served at the poolside Watercourt restaurant, where culinary stations creak under bountiful displays of belt-loosening world class fare (sushi, pastries, chilled fizz). For spectacular sunsets and Thai fusion cuisine, dine at the mountain-edge Saffron, which has a wraparound veranda that overlooks the bay. Indulge body and soul with a muscle-melting massage at the spa, or tee off at the Nick Faldo–designed golf course; the decadently eclectic Thu Quan library bar is a top spot for a post-game G&T.

In the Area

The secluded beach location, languorous spa, epic eateries and endless program of on-site activities make it hard to leave this paradisiacal playground. Should wanderlust hit, the temples and tombs of Hue, the Champa ruins of My Son and the colonial shopping hot spot of Hoi An are just a daytrip away. Closer to home, explorers and adrenaline junkies can get their fix by exploring Lang Co by mountain bike, ATV or guided trek. Closer still: Hop aboard the hotel’s riverboat for cocktails at the neighboring Angsana Resort’s Upper Deck bar.

Two night stay

We had a 2 night stay after we had been at the Angsana Lang Co Hotel next door for 3 nights and it was even more special . I think this was because we had our own private luxurious villa and pool . The villa was beautiful, very comfy bed and facilities. Wonderful big bath and little extras like daily change of joss stick and essential oil burner . We were welcomed by our charming host Mrs Bich ( Blue Sky ) who made us very welcome and made booking in and check out easy . There were buggies available to get around although our villa was close to amenities so we often walked . Breakfast was even more lovely , great choice and beautifully laid out . Staff were friendly and helpful . The pool is much smaller than the Angsana Lang but quieter and you can also use next doors pool and facilities . We enjoyed the activities laid on , we tried papermaking which was fun and we did Yoga and Meditation which was so lovely . The yoga and meditation teacher Sharmila is really good , we felt quite inspired by her and really felt better for her sessions . Thankyou for a wonderful stay .

Excellent hospitality but losing competitive edge on the rooms

The staff and hospitality are incredible and even on my third visit here, I am blown away by their excellent service standard.

We were a group of 6, booked the hilltop 3-bdr villa.
On day 1, our air conditioning was not working and that upset us a fair bit.I spent a few hours on the phone with the staff explaining the issue and they'd send someone to fix it each time but to no avail. They ended up putting a big fan in the living room which solved the problem temporarily but is less than ideal when you're paying a fortune for the villa in the first place.
On day 2, they figured the issue out and after that, our stay was quite smooth.
Going forward, I think more due diligence can be done on the resort's part to ensure such issues are not happening again.

Good Resort.

We had really good and happy time there. G.M. was great and host Ms.Yanme and Ms.Dao and Mr.Phu from the bar and driver Mr.Tam were give us very good quality service to us. Thank you and We want to visit there again.
