Set between mountain and sea, this lush seafront resort in central Vietnam combines an off-the-grid location with the kind of upscale resort amenities (an award-winning spa, a Nick Faldo–designed golf course) you’d expect from the Banyan Tree brand. Pitched red-tile roofs and open courtyards dot this romantic retreat, a modern twist on the traditional garden houses found in nearby Hue. Earth tones are accented by splashes of purple, and latticework wall panels are inspired by the patterns that decorate Hue’s citadel walls.
Bed and Bath
All 56 rooms are set in lush private gardens, with infinity pools and secluded lounge areas. Inside, the designer digs feature intimately lit bedrooms with billowy curtains and bamboo floors with a striking botanical motif. A state-of-the-art in-room entertainment center provides an ambient soundtrack, making it easy to unwind. Large windows offer garden views from every angle (including from the shower, toilet and tub), and bathrooms are equipped with tropically scented products. Lagoon Pool Villas offer the best views (number 120 hogs the limelight), while the identikit beach villas (which are not exactly on the beach) offer superior gardens with a Jacuzzi and a shaded pavilion.
Breakfast is served at the poolside Watercourt restaurant, where culinary stations creak under bountiful displays of belt-loosening world class fare (sushi, pastries, chilled fizz). For spectacular sunsets and Thai fusion cuisine, dine at the mountain-edge Saffron, which has a wraparound veranda that overlooks the bay. Indulge body and soul with a muscle-melting massage at the spa, or tee off at the Nick Faldo–designed golf course; the decadently eclectic Thu Quan library bar is a top spot for a post-game G&T.
In the Area
The secluded beach location, languorous spa, epic eateries and endless program of on-site activities make it hard to leave this paradisiacal playground. Should wanderlust hit, the temples and tombs of Hue, the Champa ruins of My Son and the colonial shopping hot spot of Hoi An are just a daytrip away. Closer to home, explorers and adrenaline junkies can get their fix by exploring Lang Co by mountain bike, ATV or guided trek. Closer still: Hop aboard the hotel’s riverboat for cocktails at the neighboring Angsana Resort’s Upper Deck bar.
How to Get There
Very friendly staff, wonderful gardens/park, good restaurants, large beach; villas are tastefully equipped and service in general outstanding. Very good breakfast, too. Quietness and privacy. Quiet good wine selection, too.
We enjoyed a wonderful weekend at the Banyan Tree (BT). My husband and I stayed at a Beach Pool Villa where you're within 3 mins walk to the beach.
It was raining on our arrival but we took the chance to have leisurely meals and just to enjoy the tranquillity of the entire place. Guests at the BT may also freely use the facilities at the adjoining property of Angsana Resort and we had the best pork skewers at their Moomba restaurant!
We also ate at Rice Bar ( where they serve noodles, donburi and sushi ) at Angsana as well as at Watercourt and Azura ( Italian food) at BT. The ingredients were fresh and beautifully presented at all restaurants; testament to their excellent training and professionalism we've come to expect from BT anywhere. Staff were always attentive and take the trouble to enquire about your food preferences and allergies!
I personally enjoyed the flora and fauna most - the grounds are impeccable and yet beautiful butterflies and birds were to be seen at all times when the weather warmed up.
Bicycles were available for guests to use and this was a great way to explore the properties.
We only swam in our villa pool as the sea and surf looked pretty rough. Swimming was not advised. The villa also had an outdoor jacuzzi which you could call to request " warming up".
Overall, this was a great way to recharge and just enjoy silence and the sounds of nature for a while.
We would like to thank Lan, our front desk associate and Thao, our regular server for their service. They speak excellent English and made our stay comfortable and memorable!
We had the pleasure of staying at Banyan Tree for a long weekend. Wow wow and more wow. So peaceful, relaxing and beautiful. Win was our villa host and did a wonderful job. Great personality and desire to please. We also greatly enjoyed the 3 restaurants on their property- all which had nice wine selections. We highly recommend doing the in-villa BBQ one night. Would I return? Absolutely, positively. Can’t wait!!!
Staff are polite and friendly. Resort arranged special amenities for our anniversary in our villa. Highly recommended for couples, very private and exclusive. can go to restaurants and facilities at sister hotel Angsana. bikes are provided to travel around resorts. Suggest to increase food varieties at breakfast.
If you go to Da Nang, go to the Banyan Tree - you will not be disappointed!!! The staff, the food, the resort, the service, all truly spectacular. They host you with so much pride and they should be proud, it is a wonderful part of the world.
