Set between mountain and sea, this lush seafront resort in central Vietnam combines an off-the-grid location with the kind of upscale resort amenities (an award-winning spa, a Nick Faldo–designed golf course) you’d expect from the Banyan Tree brand. Pitched red-tile roofs and open courtyards dot this romantic retreat, a modern twist on the traditional garden houses found in nearby Hue. Earth tones are accented by splashes of purple, and latticework wall panels are inspired by the patterns that decorate Hue’s citadel walls.
Bed and Bath
All 56 rooms are set in lush private gardens, with infinity pools and secluded lounge areas. Inside, the designer digs feature intimately lit bedrooms with billowy curtains and bamboo floors with a striking botanical motif. A state-of-the-art in-room entertainment center provides an ambient soundtrack, making it easy to unwind. Large windows offer garden views from every angle (including from the shower, toilet and tub), and bathrooms are equipped with tropically scented products. Lagoon Pool Villas offer the best views (number 120 hogs the limelight), while the identikit beach villas (which are not exactly on the beach) offer superior gardens with a Jacuzzi and a shaded pavilion.
Breakfast is served at the poolside Watercourt restaurant, where culinary stations creak under bountiful displays of belt-loosening world class fare (sushi, pastries, chilled fizz). For spectacular sunsets and Thai fusion cuisine, dine at the mountain-edge Saffron, which has a wraparound veranda that overlooks the bay. Indulge body and soul with a muscle-melting massage at the spa, or tee off at the Nick Faldo–designed golf course; the decadently eclectic Thu Quan library bar is a top spot for a post-game G&T.
In the Area
The secluded beach location, languorous spa, epic eateries and endless program of on-site activities make it hard to leave this paradisiacal playground. Should wanderlust hit, the temples and tombs of Hue, the Champa ruins of My Son and the colonial shopping hot spot of Hoi An are just a daytrip away. Closer to home, explorers and adrenaline junkies can get their fix by exploring Lang Co by mountain bike, ATV or guided trek. Closer still: Hop aboard the hotel’s riverboat for cocktails at the neighboring Angsana Resort’s Upper Deck bar.
How to Get There
Although somewhat remote, this resort is an absolute gem. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful while the beach is absolutely spectacular. It felt as though we had a private beach due to the limited number of units/guests when we visited.
This resort should definitely be on your short list of places to visit in the near future!!
Sometimes there are places where you don't feel at home despite all your efforts and beauty and despite a large villa. Places that are not really harmonious. The Banyan Tree Lang Co is part of a large project of Chinese investors. The area is planned to become a big holiday experience center including a casino and many resorts. The Banyan Tree makes a lot of things good, but the hotel doesn't really feel connected to Vietnam and the area around it. We would not come back.
_ Long lonely natural beach for beautiful walks
_ Accommodation with several children in several bedrooms well possible
_ All rooms with private pool
_ Good reliable roomservice
_ Incredibly good Thai restaurant
_ Food in general in all restaurants on a good level
_ Efforts of employees
_ Beautiful landscape, green surroundings
_ Free use of the tennis courts in the hotel next door
_ Extremely warm and therefore unusable main pool
_ Swimming in the sea possible but some jellyfish
_ Villas large and offer everything you need. But has no soul. Everything in "Dubai style".
_ Many private residences under construction, therefore partly construction site feeling.
_ Many employees do not speak sufficient English
_ Children's program in the 4-star hotel next door, manageable and on a low level
_ Depending on buggy service (at the higher situated villas)
_ Mostly a little bit strange weather in April, very hazy, very hot, no clear view into the surroundings
Despite large villas and beautiful surroundings not the place that Vietnam is and is really recommendable.

This was our 3rd Banyan Tree excursion and like each one, the experience is top notch! Quality, Hospitality, Service, Going the Extra-mile...all descrube whatvwe have experienced! A special thanks to our host, Windy!!!
Four nights in June. From the airport pickup to the registration in the room, check in was a breeze! Excellent villa with pool. Immaculate gardens and landscape. The beach, although very hot, was surprisingly good with clear and clean water. Much better than I expected! Service was really excellent. Not perfect due to the bland and boring food of their restaurants. The hotel is isolated, so you have to use their restaurants or those in the angsana next door.
This was our first experience of a Banyan Tree resort although we have travelled extensively with other high end accomodations. The staff and facilities at LangCo were simply amazing. We were made to feel extra special with everyone from gardeners to management making the effort to say hello and ensure we were happy. All the little touches were unexpected but set this resort apart from the others that we have stayed at. We are keen to explore other Banyan Trees after this experience.
