Set on 18 acres with a private beach, two pools and 19th-century King Rama V-inspired design, the 99-room Santhiya Koh Phangan Resort & Spa is a relaxed hideaway that caters to couples and families alike. With teakwood flooring, guestrooms have serious eco-friendly cred, and feature expansive windows and a balcony or terrace with uninterrupted sea views. Some suites and villas have private pools. Two restaurants, including the standout Chantara (serving authentic Thai al fresco) and the beachfront By The Sea bar offer plenty of choices at meal time. By day, a 13,000-square-foot freeform pool, 30-foot manmade waterfall and a selection of kayaks, canoes and watersports amenities will keep you active, while the open-air Ayurvana Spa will help you unwind.
In the Area
A 30-minute speedboat transfer from Koh Samui, Koh Phangan is an amalgam of Thai culture and natural attractions. Hit up Thong Nai Pan Beach, just a distance from the resort, for local craft and souvenir shopping, or take to the water by kayak or canoe for a self-guided tour of the area shoreline. Don’t forget to bring your snorkeling gear or trade it in with a local PADI dive outfitter and check out Ang Thong National Marine Park, Sail Rock or Chumphon Pinnacle, among the top-rated dive sites in Thailand.
How to Get There
Koh Phangan is a beautiful, natural island. There are plenty of accommodation. The full moon night will be held at Parti called Full Moon night. There is only one island that has achieved this kind of success. Still have fun again.
We've just finished our stay at Santhiya. We're so happy with the whole experience. From the minute we arrived and were greeted at the airport, the team at Santhiya have gone above and beyond to make our stay exceptional.
Khun Panja has put in so much effort to help us and make us feel welcome for our stay and our wedding. Every little detail was perfect, myself and my wife could not be happier, thank you so much for your hospitality!!
We stayed at the Santhiya resort for three nights for a friends wedding and everything was beautiful. The rooms are huge, and have all the finishing touches you could think of. The service was excellent and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. Housekeeping came every morning to make up the rooms and again in the evenings. The views are outstanding and the buffet breakfast was a huge hit. The team were happy to organise anything for you including taxis and day trips and the complimentary massage was beautiful. It was a beautiful venue for a wedding and the staff were brilliant at looking after us. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone wanting some luxury accomodation and fantastic service.
We stayed in the Santhiya Koh Phangan Resort for 4 nights and booked a Sea View villa, which they kindly upgraded to a Royal Sea View Pool villa. Amazing room, the views, the interior, the outdoor shower. Really beautiful.
The resort itself is build upon a hill, making it impossible to walk to our room that was situated all the way at the top of the hill. They have little cars driving around that bring you everywhere, so that is one of the charms of the resort.
Restaurants are good. Their buffet is always tasty and costs actually just around 15 euro pp.. Hint: arrive at the restaurant at 6.55 pm, so you can still order your first drink as happy hour drink, giving you a 1 plus 1 on all cocktails and beers. (ends at 7pm)
Beach is nice. If you want something else than the buffet, try the first beach restaurant you see when you walk the 'stone path', away from the hotel beach. They have great food for great prices. We had 3 courses and 2 drinks and paid around 29 euro in total.
So, as my title suggests there is one downside in my opinion. The resort is situated at the most northwestern tip of the island, making it a long drive from the harbour, but even longer to the sunset beaches in the north eastern part. Hard to leave this place since it is so beautiful, but also hard to leave since there isn't much to do in the neighborhood. You really have to book a boat trip or so, but that makes for a complete day, which means you miss out on your beautiful room with private pools.
Overall, the resort deserves nothing but a 10 for rooms, staff and atmosphere.
The resort matched our expectations.
The van/ high speed boat transfer from Koh Samui airport directly to the resort was very well organised by the Santhiya staff. We arrived earlier and they made us reach the resort earlier, before our scheduled speed boat slot.
The staff warmly welcomed us upon arrival, especially Hajie/Alfredo who kept a very friendly and professional eye on us throughout our stay. They promptly informed us about all the extra and paying activities and briefly about the included ones.
Room 1308 was as we expected. Partial sea view and very close to the lobby, restaurant and beach, 3 minutes walk.
The resort is massive and luckily we did not need to take any provided transportation to and from the room.
The room patio had a lot of shade as covered by many trees. The sunshine at different hours of the day was only hitting the pool or the deck but not the entire outdoors area like in other villas.
The breakfast was included and very generous with adequate selections.
I used the gym every other day and although the equipments were a bit old, the whole experience was ok. Water and towel were provided. It was also very clean.
The resort is 10 minutes walk from the main village via the beach. The village offers restaurants, some shops and several massage places.
The resort was clean and well maintained. The villa and its pool were cleaned on a daily basis. The bathroom was open air in with a massive tree in front of the main shower and that was something that we really loved. The only suggestion would be to pay more attention to the cleaning especially by the shower area.
The overall experience was great and we would love to go back.
Unfortunately I smashed two beer glasses by accident and I had to inform the reception to send the housekeeper and remove the broken glass. The staff at the reception was very kind telling me not to worry.
However, at check out we were asked to cover the cost of those two broken glasses which was 160 Baht.
That was certainly not a big deal but I think that a 5 star hotel could have ignored that.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay but we found the resort a little bit overpriced for its activities such as the spa and the excursions. Hence why did everything outside the resort paying one third compared to their prices.
