How to Get There
There is always an air of trepidation when you have booked and paid for your holiday. More so when you are returning to a hotel previously visited. Having only returned to two hotels in over 20 years of travelling together (once a disaster and the second okish!) the feelings were very mixed on our journey to the Evason. On the long journey from the airport (when not sleeping!) my wife and I occasionally looked at each other and asked "is it really worth it?".
However, the moment our taxi pulled into the car park of the Evason, our bags were transferred to an electric buggy and we were driven to reception all our reservations evaporated. This place has a habit of doing that to you, as you are driven around the resort to reception the air of peace and tranquility is palpable and the warm welcome at reception sets the tone for your stay.
We had requested our same pool villa that we had stayed in previously and in true Evason style they were happy to help. If you can stretch to one of these then you will not regret it. Your own private pool with your own sunbeds, outside bath and day bed all enclosed in a walled garden is the epitome of privacy. They are also closer on resort to the bars, restaurants, reception and spa.
Talking of food and drink, we stayed on an all inclusive basis as last time.
Breakfast is fantastic. From eggs (anyway you like) to waffles, Thai food, fruit, salad, pastries, soups, chicken satay(!) and even a vegan corner - if you can't find something to eat for breakfast you must go hungry a lot!
For lunch we visited The Bar where everything is cooked fresh for you off the menu (no buffet slops here!) with a wide range of anything from pizza and pasta through to Thai curries and everything in between. With one, two or three courses included in your all inclusive package here you certainly won't go hungry!
Evening meals are taken in a choice of three restaurants (with some closed on the odd night) with meals still available in The Bar, a Thai restaurant or Coast which serves Mediterranean food. The food in all of these is simply delightful with the service attentive.
Likewise drinks in the bar are all premium brands with a good selection of cocktails as well as fresh milkshakes (yummy!).
My only slight quibble on the All Inclusive package was on the last day. We had a lay in on the day of departure (as we knew we had 25 hours of travelling to get home) and so missed breakfast. I had asked a few days earlier if we could check out slightly later at 1.00PM as our pick up was 1.30. As it happened we were ready to check out at 11.00AM. I went to reception and asked if we checked out of our room if we could still sit at the bar and have a few drinks and some lunch (as we had missed breakfast) still on our All Inclusive package. The lady on reception said no as our All Inclusive package ended the night before. To be fair she checked with another lady on reception who asked what time we had arrived on our first day. When I stated that we had not arrived until 10.30PM she said it would be ok and she rang through to the bar so they could still serve us. Not the end of the world as it got sorted to our satisfaction but think if this is the case then customers should be told this on arrival. I get the impression probably not many people stay here on an All Inclusive basis (but it suits us) and perhaps an A4 page detailing what is (and what is not) included should be given to such guests to save any confusion in the future for everyones benefit.
That minor blip aside, would I come back a third time? For sure, in a heartbeat!
This place is special. Calming, peaceful, beautiful. But what makes this place stand out is the staff. Alan, the Managing Director, is clearly customer orientated and each and every member of staff has the same ethos of customer care. Everywhere you go you are met with a smile from what seem like the friendliest people on the planet. A few stick out like Wi who looked after us in the bar as she did before, Wanphen in the Thai restaurant who when she heard we were disappointed that they had taken the chicken ceasar salad off the menu at Coast rang the chef and organised one to be made for my wife on our visit the following night. Then there was Sulita at The Bar who after having chosen my first Thai Green Curry to be spicy (which it was and I think she was surprised I enjoyed) there then seemed to be a secret joke between her and my wife each time I ordered something spicy to test my Scoville resilience! Although, I assure you no dish returned un-eaten!! Then there is Bo. She came to see us on our first day to welcome us back and was surprised when we remembered her. How could we forget - on our last visit she came in on her day off to give my wife some flowers on our wedding anniversary. Likewise on this visit on my birthday she left a birthday card for me. She truly is an asset to the Evason and indicative of the care and attention you will receive on your visit.
Sorry, it's a long one but want to do this fantastic place and it's people justice.
So what you waiting for? Book it..........
This resort has excellent services and has several beautiful pools. The breakfast is extensive and sets you up for a good day to go sightseeing and shopping. Praknampran is not a bustling metropolis but has all the facilities you need in this area. A great resort if you want to relax and be pampered.
We stayed here for ten days,a quality hotel with fantastic staff, exceptional cleanliness, superb facilities a very relaxing time...can't wait to return, loved the personal attention from all members of staff, they made our holiday
This hotel is set among water lily lakes. The breakfast is awesome I have never seen such a huge selection on offer. There was plenty to suit all tastes and nationalities. The hotel covers a large area there is a beach but not suitable for swimming. It is not a hotel that is suitable for someone with physical disabilities. The walk from the accommodation to the restaurants, bar and beach is very long. My husband was loaned a wheelchair for me but there were steep ramps on the route. The car park is at the entrance and one is then transported by buggy to the reception, the only vehicles on site were the hotel buggies. They did have hire bicycles. There are a couple of local restaurants, one " Mr Singh's beach bar " did a pick up and return, the other "Good food" was a short walk for most people. The pool was lovely but not accessible for disabled, we were given complimentary fruit and even ice lollies , whilst sitting by the pool. It was a lovely hotel.
We just finished a five-night stay here with our two-year-old son, and another couple with small children. We all absolutely loved the Evason! The rooms are spacious and clean, and the hotel grounds are beautiful. The pool is lovely, with a variety of depths. Our little guy loved the smaller kid pool. Breakfast was delicious with tons of options. The most impressive part of our stay was the service - every single employee was helpful and kind, and went out of their way to be of assistance, from polishing sunglasses at the pool to cleaning our son’s fork after he dropped it while eating. Yes, you could find cheaper options in Thailand but in my opinion the price tag was well worth it.
