Overview

Back-to-nature escapism at its finest – a collection of thatched cabins set between the beach and the jungle on Sri Lanka's east coast, including breakfast, daily cocktail, a massage and more

The Lowdown

A collection of thatched villas and cabins peeping out of tropical foliage near the rural village of Kuchchaveli, the remote Jungle Beach by Uga Escapes is the epitome of castaway chic. Shrouded by nature and steps from footprint-free golden sands, this eco retreat might be considered a back-to-basics experience, but the subtle five-star comforts are anything but.
Around 30 minutes from the former Dutch colony of Trincomalee, Jungle Beach by Uga Escapes offers unrivalled privacy – ideal for seclusion-seeking couples. Disappear into Uga Spa for holistic healing in the form of ancient Ayurveda, cross the bridge over the lotus pond for sundowners by the meandering swimming pool; and for dinner, explore authentic Sri Lankan cuisine in where other than a treehouse-style restaurant with ambient lantern lighting.
For those who like their hideaways harmoniously woven into the landscape (the reception even has trees growing through it), this is as enchanting as it gets. Little wonder the resort scooped fourth place in the ‘Top 25 Hotels in Sri Lanka’ category of the TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice awards.

Really relaxing experience by the sea. Our room was a cabin cluster with a private pool, it's big, comfortable, very clean thanks to Rajeev and Irsath who was very kind and given us a surprise room deco on our anniversary.
The breakfast and dinner buffets were varied and filled with local flavours. Great location and friendly, helpful staff. Special thanks to Yasanka who was very supportive from the day of reservation, he attended to each and every need of us. Made our anniversary gateaway even more special ????

Nothing short of absolute perfection!

We were welcomed to Junglebeach by Yasanka. He was quick to point out all the little details we needed to keep in mind for our stay. Without a doubt one of the most welcoming persons you will meet. From the way he speaks & conducts himself you can say how enthusiastic he is about his job.

Before we can say something about hotel we absolutely MUST say a few words about the hotels F&B Manager Jagath Jayawardana. Never have I, personally met a more humble and hospitable person. We first met Jagath while he was checking up on us with as to how the meal was. He was very professional and courteous. He did not miss the opportunity to check up on us during every service as he did with all the other guests. Jagaths team was top notch as he was. Very friendly and paying great attention to detail. All smiles and full of warmth. With Jagath at the helm, there's no wonder his team dishes out some of the best food we have ever had. True hospitality and warmth comes from the little things we do to make others happy, Jagath and his team has mastered the art of this. In our farewell all Jagath wanted from us was to "let the world know there's a beautiful place like this" and that's exactly what we thought we would do. Our stay at jungle beach was such a treat. Big thanks to Jagath, Yasanka and rest of the staff.

The beach Cabana was a unique experience to us. As soon as you enter you hear the noise of the waves crashing into the shore at a distance, this transports you into a state of tranquility. The room was full of all the amenities you would need, including a Marshall Bluetooth speaker and not forgetting our complimentary pair of comfortable flip-flops.
The hotel in itself is beautiful! The black-white sandy beach in all its unparalleled beauty is quite a relaxing sight. The beauty of this hotel is best witnessed from ones own eyes.
