How to Get There
I am happy being a member of the Marriott Hotel chain and be allowed to live in their hotels. This time I have been to the Courtyard by Marriott Hotel in Seoul for business.
They seem to have a corporate standard that applies in all Marriott hotels worldwide. It doesnt matter if I stay in Leipzig or Bangkok or Seoul Marriott hotel; I can expect the same high quality. very attentive staff who helped me with the taxi driver, who couldnt read my Credit Card. The reception was nice and I got a room upgrade as a Gold member. The room had a good size for a single traveler. The bathroom was very modern with toilets that were highly sophisticated. I would have needed an introduction how to use all that buttons.:-)
The beds are always the best part of a stay in Marriott. Very comfortable and enough pillows. The location is also good as you can find a lot of good restaurants just around the corner.
I am a big fan of the Marriott breakfast buffet. A lot of warm dishes as well as bread and cold cut for European guests. Very good start in every day. The hotel bar offered good local beer from the tab. I can not expect more from a hotel then what I got here. My only struggle I had, was the high-tec toilet.

3 of us stayed for 11 night. Room was considered spacious for 3 adults although there was only 2 beds. Housekeeping was prompt everyday however, they did not replenish all used items, could have missed out especially body moisturiser, sanitary bag, cotton pads, creamer and sugar. I felt that cleaning could have been more thorough as I found food crumbs under the chair cushion and even though I left the cushion up for the Housekeeping, the food crumbs were not properly cleared out. Also found the curtains slightly dusty.
Location of the hotel was about a 10 min walk to myeongdong and just across the street to Namdaemun market. Train station is at the end of the Namdaemun market street about 6 to 7 mins so you’ll definitely need an umbrella if it rains. It is also walking distance to City Hall station, approximately 8 mins but also no shelter along the way. There is an airport limousine bus stop nearby (3 mins) that goes to Incheon airport. You’ll need to cross the road or underpass to get to the bus stop going to the airport.
The hotel provided us with drink coupons at the lounge on the last night of our stay. Unfortunately we could not use it as we didn’t have enough time. Would have appreciated it if it was given earlier.
Overall I rated it average as location is not very convenient and cleanliness was not up to my standard.
I cannot say enough good things about this hotel, the location is incredible, over looking Namdaemun market. The staff are extremely helpful especially Alex at check in, he went out of his way to make our stay perfect, Thank you Alex. The rooms are large, modern and very well appointed, the bathroom is huge, I love the oversized shower, bath robes, slippers and everything you could possibly need are provided.
Overall this Hotel is exceptional and exceeded all my expectations, I would highly recommend it.
I will be back for sure.
Check in process is disappointing. I got an email from bonvoy to check in where i can specify a checkin time the day before so I completed the check in process, upon arrival i have to go through the normal checm in process so whats the point of checking in online? i was told the room is not available and if you want we can downgrade you so you can check in now but no refund will be issued. I dont understand why would he even asked that kind of question, We booked for 7 nights, and he thinks we will accept a downgrade without any compensation just so we dont have to wait for another 30 mins? He then said ok just come back later and i will check you in. I had to ask why cant you check me in right now so i just need to pick up the key when i come back? That would be common sense I thought? I expect Staff from a big chain like Marriot should be able to figure this kind of things themselves.
We have a deluxe king room with an extrabed. Theres almost no space. We had to park our pram in the bathroom. Luckily the bathroom is quite spacious. We also stayed at metro hotel and park hyatt during our visit and this is the only hotel without humidifier in the room.
Breakfast, plenty of choices but nothing outstanding.
On the 5th day, i turn on the make up our room button around 1030. We left and came back around 4, and the room hasnt been cleaned. Around 430pm the cleaner came but my sons asleep so i told then to come back later, they never did. Around 6 pm, i picked up the phone and ask them to send someone to make up our room, only to be told that the cleAners left at 5 so they cant make up our room, I requested to at least clean our rubbish and they agreed.

Spent 1 week on business, needed help with address translation and location plus taxis and Concierge desk was fantastic. Requested early check in and late check out both granted (Silver Elite member). Food good but a la carte a bit limited however spectacular buffet every night in the hotel. Near restaurants and transport links. Rooms large but needed a desk.
