This is the 2nd hotel for my honeymoon trip in Seoul.
The customer service is very good. Two of their staff, Alex C and Flora were doing good from the email communication till my arrival, they have provided me useful information and wonder customer experience.
For the room, I was lived in the Deluxe room with Seoul Tower view , it is especially enchanting at night.
I have not tried the MoMo cafe and hopefully I can have a chance to do so for the next time.
I highly recommended all of you for this hotel with a reasonable price and nice customer service.
I chose the Namdaemun Courtyard based on the previous reviews I read. The staff at Courtyard did not disappoint. The entire staff was a pleasure to deal with. I was thanked for my loyalty to the Marriott brand and was offered a room upgrade upon arrival.
The room was functional. Not too big and not too small. A nice view of the tower and there was plenty of hot water.
The location of the Courtyard is very convenient. The Namdaemun market is right across the street. The Incheon airport bus 6005 is less than a 5 minute walk. There are 2 Paris Baguettes and 2 Starbucks equally as close. Behind the hotel is an alleyway where there are plenty of places to eat, You can find bbq or bunchon style restaurants.
The Courtyard was clean, service was provided with a smile and the location was good for our needs. When we return to Seoul, we will stay at the Courtyard again.
My experience tells me that you can't go wrong with the Marriott name. Check-in and check-out was smooth and all the staff performed professionally, especially the concierge and front desk staff. Stayed here for 5 nights for business and it was recommended by the trade show organizer due to its downtown location and proximity to major tourist spots and shopping areas, particularly the Myeongdong Shopping Street, a 10 to 15 minute walk from the hotel. The executive lounge also offers business services and great breakfast menus with gorgeous city view. Room is spacious and clean and I like the parquet flooring in the room.
Was staying in room 518 from 7-9 Dec 2018. On the night of 7 Dec, around 3am, we realised that the heater was malfunctioning. Even though we set the temperature to 28 degrees celcius 3 hours ago, it was still 19 degrees at 3am. As our kids were sleeping, we waited out till morning to inform the front desk who said they will send an engineer.
We went out and gave permission for the engineer to enter the room and check the heater. When we returned at 10pm, we found that the temperature kept dropping.. from 22 to 19 degrees and called front desk again. Engineer came twice, climbed up the ladder, stayed for barely 5mins and told us all is ok. This dragged on until 1130pm when I had a 3rd call to the front desk- only to find out that it only took 20mins to heat up the room and surely- the engineer could have stayed 20mins to verify that the heater was faulty!
What was more appalling was that the front desk suggested that the engineer would come again to “repair” the heater... it was 1130pm! I have 2 young kids who have missed their bedtime badly. No other proposals was made until I told her “you can ask your engineer to repair all you want but I demand a room change”
They eventually did change my room to 2018 but it wasn’t a triple (what I paid for) but a double room which took another few minutes to rectify
By then, past midnight, tired from everything, my kids slept
What I was upset was:
- Marriotts standard. I’ve stayed in many other places before. Surely this kind of standard is unacceptable
- No management came to apologise to us. When we checked out the next day on 9 Dec, we mentioned this again and the front desk said “she will Speak to her manager”
- the “engineer” had a whole day on 8 Dec to repair the heater but didn’t do a proper job. Spending a mere 20mins could have verified it was indeed faulty
- the lack of initiative by the front desk. I explained I have 2 young kids and when I requested a change of room, surely they could have changed to a triple and not just any room and caused us to slee even later
Nobody apologised for us having to sleep in an unheated room on 7 Dec night. It was -11 degrees that night and was sooo cold. My Husband and I are nursing a cold right now probably due to that very night.
Was prepared to drop it- had not the front desks poor attitude of “I will speak with my manager” triggered this review
Marriott in Brisbane, Phuket etc are far cry from Seoul. I am deeply saddened and disappointed with such service. Sigh
