Thatch-roofed overwater villas, butlers and a sparkling lagoon make up this palm-studded paradise island
The only property on Emboodhu Finolhu (Three Coconut Island), Taj Exotica Resort & Spa is very much a palm-studded paradise. Thatch-roofed overwater villas, personal butlers, gourmet food and an herbal-based spa up the luxe factor, but it’s the crystal-clear lagoon and blissful silence that really set the scene for a tropical escape.
Bed and Bath
The 64 guestrooms have tropical-chic decor, with dark woods and bright fabrics, and such plush amenities as rain showers and Ploh bedding. Lagoon Villas have private sundecks and ocean views; upgrade to a Deluxe Lagoon Pool Villa and get a private plunge pool and direct access to the lagoon via a ladder.
When it’s time for a meal, buzz your personal butler, who will arrive in a buggy to drive you to one of the resort’s two restaurants. At the all-day 24 Degrees you can watch the chefs prepare international favorites, while at the overwater Deep End, dishes are prepared using organic and free-trade ingredients. For light bites, cocktails and cigars, the Equator Bar offers a clubby atmosphere and expert mixologists. After a few days of sundowners and beach time, making plans may seem like a foreign concept. But the hotel does have a PADI-certified dive center that offers a variety of dive courses and excursions, a freshwater infinity pool and water sports such as kayaking, catamaran sailing and windsurfing. And for ultimate relaxation, visit the Jiva Spa for an ayurvedic treatment that uses herbal ingredients.
How to Get There
The resort is beautiful and not so far from the airport which was a big positive. You have everything you need here and hence we did not really step out anywhere. The staff were excellent for the most part with front desk Yuki and Tatiana , house keeping with Ali, restaurant with Chef. Abhiskek and Head of operations BALA. Prashant at the Dhoni was exceptional as he paid attention to our smallest needs and was extremely pro-active to make sure we had a relaxing time. Our butler Mohammad was amazing and made sure all our needs were addressed as well as went out of his way to make us comfortable and made sure we got the best time for all our excursions. Kudos you guys. About the service, well that was slow at times and the resort was not even at 50% capacity. That was really disappointing. Also most of the excursions do not allow young children to participate and that was kind of a bummer for us. They did not have too many activities for young kids and that was very disappointing since we could not really enjoy too many excursions as we could not take our kids with us. The attention to detail was missing especially at the restaurant where we had to remind our server about out special needs which normally is on record with them before our arrival. That is the main reason why this trip was very good but not exceptional. From TAJ, you expect more when it comes to attention to small details. Also the butler was looking after 8 rooms and was really busy when the occupancy rose and that was a shame as he knew everything we needed but we did not have too many problems as he informed the replacements as best as he could about our preferences. But he did his best. The management needs to help their team to allow them to give service they are capable of. All in all was a very good experience and relaxing holiday but could have been exceptional if the attention to detail was given more priority.
I stayed in this resort for 2 nights , it was incredible stay. I recommend it for those who are looking for reasonable prices, 5 stars hotel, delecious food. I did a diving class and enjoyed the delecious food.
It was the most amazing and memorable stay. The level of service was truly mindblowing and personalised. We had a lovely time. The food was the best that I have ever had on any trip to Maldives. The staff were super attentive and were able to meet all our needs
Just back from a 6 night stay at this highly acclaimed resort. Let's start with the good, food excellent, service excellent. Now for the not as good. Accommodation clean but not luxurious for the prices, location maybe close to get to from Mali but the island is surrounded by works going on building new islands so it's hardly tropical and quiet. Also the resort is smak bang under the flight path of all traffic and being close to airport planes are very low. To sum up for the high prices it's underwhelming an I know there are plenty of other resorts much better mainly their better location.
Outstanding holiday that impressed us immensely. Starting from the reception at airport, transfer to the resort, location of the room, their cleanliness and friendly and caring staff ( Shubendu and Mohinuddin)
