Overview

Thatch-roofed overwater villas, butlers and a sparkling lagoon make up this palm-studded paradise island

The Look

The only property on Emboodhu Finolhu (Three Coconut Island), Taj Exotica Resort & Spa is very much a palm-studded paradise. Thatch-roofed overwater villas, personal butlers, gourmet food and an herbal-based spa up the luxe factor, but it’s the crystal-clear lagoon and blissful silence that really set the scene for a tropical escape.

Bed and Bath

The 64 guestrooms have tropical-chic decor, with dark woods and bright fabrics, and such plush amenities as rain showers and Ploh bedding. Lagoon Villas have private sundecks and ocean views; upgrade to a Deluxe Lagoon Pool Villa and get a private plunge pool and direct access to the lagoon via a ladder.

Beyond

When it’s time for a meal, buzz your personal butler, who will arrive in a buggy to drive you to one of the resort’s two restaurants. At the all-day 24 Degrees you can watch the chefs prepare international favorites, while at the overwater Deep End, dishes are prepared using organic and free-trade ingredients. For light bites, cocktails and cigars, the Equator Bar offers a clubby atmosphere and expert mixologists. After a few days of sundowners and beach time, making plans may seem like a foreign concept. But the hotel does have a PADI-certified dive center that offers a variety of dive courses and excursions, a freshwater infinity pool and water sports such as kayaking, catamaran sailing and windsurfing. And for ultimate relaxation, visit the Jiva Spa for an ayurvedic treatment that uses herbal ingredients.

Fantabulous
Reviewed 5 days ago

There exists such a word called "fantabulous" and there exists such a place in the Maldives worthy of such a title.

From the pick up at the aiport to the welcome at the jetty ...to the room ... to the service .. to the check out .. to the meals to the smiles to the ... you name it ... it was taken care of while you thought it.

The only thing was ... the trip was too short.

Kudos to all of you for this exceptional warmth and hospitality

The best resort i have found in maldives. The best choice for all indians because they have some indian food and they taste very delicious. You won't miss India for a while. Must go place. In one room we had problem of some sort of insect in a room, but they took care of it too.

Surpassed all expectations!!!

We arrived in Male after 11pm. Travelled in a group of about 13ppl. (Half of which were kids ranging from 8 and under). A total family vay-k! We had pre booked the resort and were abit concerned that although we were promised luxury... there wasn't any 'kids club' as such that most resorts in th Maldives have. However from th time we arrived at th resort we were accommodated for in more ways than expected. From toddler toys, amenities,(included new bottles n pacifiers) and activities we were thrilled that a resort would go above n beyond to cater for all our little ones. The rooms were spacious and super luxurious with the most breathtaking views. It was not jus a honeymooners paradise but a parents paradise too. Rooms are well spaced so u still have ur privacy even when getting into th lagoon from ur villa. We booked on a half board basis which was more than sufficient as our entire day came out in th pool... lagoon or beach. The breakfast had various options all delicious with generous servings. The suppers delivered exotic meals each with ther own authetintic tastes but all absolutely delicious. Ther are scattered hammocks n seating places around the resort so if u need to escape to ur own piece of paradise u have the option of doing so without leaving ur island. The lagoon is child friendly in low tide as well as high tide... but they might need a life jacket just to be extra safe even if they can swim. When booking this resort we were skeptical as a lot of th reviews online didn't provide us with enough assurances that it would be a 'child friendly' resort as such! But TAj delivered on all that we had Hoped for and more. Forgot to mention that its just a mere 15mins speedboat ride. Which was a blessing In disguise. After a long haul flight with kids the thought of getting into another plane is just crazy!!!

Memorable escape to a memorable island
Reviewed 7 days ago

Hi everyone. We (myself, my wife, and a 2-yrs old child) stayed in Taj Exotica Resort & Spa near end of July for 4 nights. We planned to stay in two different type of rooms; the first was “Deluxe Lagoon with pool” and the second was “Premium Villa with pool”. Our experience in short was great and over expected. From the first welcome, to the last good bye, everything was well prepared and arranged. The atmosphere is very friendly.

Rooms: Both rooms we stayed in are located on the eastern side of the island, so only sunrise can be seen from these types of rooms (deluxe lagoon can see partial sunrise). All amenities and toiletries are already available in rooms, so we rarely had to call our butler. In general, the rooms were very clean, cozy, new, and offering great space.

Dining: We opted to have Half board (Breakfast & Dinner). You will have them in one restaurant (called 24-Degrees). It’s an “a la carte”, not an open buffet. For dinner, you can order soup/salad, appetizers, main course, and deserts. Soft drinks were not included. To be honest, I was concerned about the quantity (not being a buffet). But it was not the case, we were getting full before we reach to the deserts. You a big and comprehensive menu to select from; Indian, Maldivian, Asian and few meals of international. The meals finishing and taste are great. There are special meals for kids, even if you have a special request or requirements regarding meals, the team at 24-Degrees are pleased and ready to fulfill it.

Service & Housekeeping: The house keeping service was perfect, they clean the room twice a day. They made a surprise for us almost each day:
When we came back after dinner in the first day, we found gift for our baby (Baby Johnson set, baby wipes, pacifier, and nursing bottle). We got another new set again in the first day in the second villa. All was complimentary.
And the other two nights they made for us beautiful bed and bath tube decorations.

On the day of celebrating my wife’s birthday, it seems that the housekeeping team had unintentionally overlooked the occasion (i.e. no cake or room decoration was arranged). The next day, I gently raised my concern with our butler, who expressed his apology and directly raised it with the concerned teams. I really felt that the whole resort staff got called out, and we were surprised with an astonishing birthday celebration arrangement set up for us near Jiva Spa. The housekeeping team were there waiting for us to reach, to celebrate with us their own way. The setup was GREAT. Balloons, birthday cake, sparkling juice, and delicious snacks. A BIG BIG BIG “thank you” for this… I owe you a lot.

Activities: Although you feel that the island is relatively small and activities (to do) are less than other resorts, but believe me you have a lot to do in this resort, to make you fully busy. You can start your day with a 1-hour Yoga session. You get a snorkeling kit for free to use during your stay. Kayak, Pedaling, and windsurfing are also available to use complimentary. There is a pool table and chess to enjoy in the entertainment room located next to the boutique. The gym location, view and equipment are great. This is all in addition to the activities and excursions that you can schedule (in coordination with your butler). There are activities for kids also, scheduled on daily basis: like bowling, crab racing, sack race, coloring class, mocktail class, and others.

Weather: Although July is considered in wet season, we had a pleasant 5 days of mostly sunshine but windy. One quick shower came during one day, and maybe couple of showers after midnight. The wind is around 15 Mph and is mainly coming from west, so you will feel the wind when you walk along the beach (which is on the western side of the island). We postponed the non-motorized water activities till the last day on which the wind was relatively calm.

Tips:
- Half board is recommended (BF & Dinner). Don’t go with Full board, just not to waste your whole day eating
- I recommend bringing mosquito repellant with you (the spray ones), as you might be bitten although the resort management is doing their best every day for pest control, and they provide the electrical repellant in rooms
- No need to bring your snorkeling gear. You can get and use one for free (from the diving center) and return it on the last day
- Aqua shoes are recommended to have, in order to protect your feet (from dead reef) especially if you want to snorkel and perhaps stand in water around the “Deluxe Lagoon rooms”

Special Thanks to:
- Mr. Vishal Singh (General Manager) and the top management for having such a great family in such a wonderful resort
- Mr. Hemanth Singh (Exec. Housekeeper) and his team for the great and awesome surprises every day, and for making my wife’s birthday celebration memorable.
- Mr. Adi (our great butler), Mr. Jinan, and Ms. Safa for their cooperation and continuous efforts to keep our days enjoyable and comfortable.
- Mr. Putul Talukdar (Chef) for the mouthwatering dishes prepared and for being keen on getting our satisfaction feedback on daily basis.
- All of Mr. Riyaz, Hamid, Aaalif, Enayat, Suwaib, and rest of the team at 24-degrees restaurant for professionally serving us. It’s always a joy to see your smiling faces every day and meet such a kind-heart people.

My family at “Taj Exotica Resort & Spa”, you made it so easy for me the next time I visit The Maldives. I will definitely choose “Taj Exotica Resort & Spa” again and again.. Good Bye till next time.. We hope you all the best.
