Thatch-roofed overwater villas, butlers and a sparkling lagoon make up this palm-studded paradise island
The only property on Emboodhu Finolhu (Three Coconut Island), Taj Exotica Resort & Spa is very much a palm-studded paradise. Thatch-roofed overwater villas, personal butlers, gourmet food and an herbal-based spa up the luxe factor, but it’s the crystal-clear lagoon and blissful silence that really set the scene for a tropical escape.
Bed and Bath
The 64 guestrooms have tropical-chic decor, with dark woods and bright fabrics, and such plush amenities as rain showers and Ploh bedding. Lagoon Villas have private sundecks and ocean views; upgrade to a Deluxe Lagoon Pool Villa and get a private plunge pool and direct access to the lagoon via a ladder.
When it’s time for a meal, buzz your personal butler, who will arrive in a buggy to drive you to one of the resort’s two restaurants. At the all-day 24 Degrees you can watch the chefs prepare international favorites, while at the overwater Deep End, dishes are prepared using organic and free-trade ingredients. For light bites, cocktails and cigars, the Equator Bar offers a clubby atmosphere and expert mixologists. After a few days of sundowners and beach time, making plans may seem like a foreign concept. But the hotel does have a PADI-certified dive center that offers a variety of dive courses and excursions, a freshwater infinity pool and water sports such as kayaking, catamaran sailing and windsurfing. And for ultimate relaxation, visit the Jiva Spa for an ayurvedic treatment that uses herbal ingredients.
How to Get There
Five days on a small island in the Maldives was at first something we were not that sure about. However, from the moment we arrived, we knew we had made a great choice. The friendly staff made our stay the best we have ever experienced on any vacation. The restaurants provide an endless range of delights. They are chilled and friendly, and the staff just made you feel welcome and relaxed. There was never a requirement to be doing things as they centre on your relaxation and enjoyment at all times. Food? Outstanding with a great variety. Beaches? Pristine and with deck bed and umbrellas at comfortable distances apart. Water? Crystal clear and a delight to swim in. We would not hesitate to recommend this resort to anyone looking for a friendly relaxed and enjoyable holiday. 11 out of 10
The Maldives is beautiful but the service at taj made it truly a holiday to remember. The food was good, the close location to Male is so convenient. The crystal water and white sandy beach was kept immaculate and continuously combed by the staff. I have nothing negative to say about our stay
Great service and great hospitality. We enjoyed it. The staff were so kind and helpful. The room was cleaned and everything was really organized. The staff will come twice a day to clean without requesting and if we accept. I enjoyed this trip and i really recommend this resort.
