Niyama Private Islands Maldives
What We Love
- Daily breakfast is included in the Jetsetter rate
- Dancing with sharks — and rays, sailfish, turtles and jacks at Subsix nightclub. The seabed’s a hot dance floor
- Dining on ostrich bobotie, grilled warthog and Colombian ice cream at the Tribal jungle restaurant
What To Know
- A mandatory round-trip seaplane transfer fee (approx. $627 per adult) will be collected at the property
- The house reef is a long way out
- Niyama’s beaches haven’t yet reached powder perfection. Broken coral can be uncomfortable underfoot
- Spa therapies and water sports (apart from kayaking and paddlesurfing) are not included
- Compulsory Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve gala dinners are $350 and $500 per person, respectively
- Free WiFi
- Handicap Accessible
- Kids Club
- Room Service
This younger, larger, funkier sister of luxury Maldives resort PER AQUUM Huvafen Fushi opened in 2012 with a blitz of publicity. Most of the attention centered on Subsix — its unique underwater nightclub — but there’s a lot more to the resort on Olhuveli Island, in the Dhaalu atoll. An awful lot more. From global campfire cuisine to a riot of boys toys (including motorized boats and cars) to an art studio and a marine biology lab. Bright, coolly contemporary PER AQUUM Niyama ensures there’s no excuse for boredom or desert island ennui.
Bed and Bath
The 86 overwater and on-land studios and pavilions are bright and light, with cream walls, wood floors and glass partitions. They offer state-of-the-art technology, free movies, and enviably stylish bathrooms containing vast trapezoid bathtubs. The overwater decks support white chaise longues and smoke green infinity pools: ancient Rome meets 21st-century L.A. All have well-stocked minibars to go with the obligatory Nespresso machines; Niyama’s ‘deli-in’ concept means free Häagen-Dazs and superb value snacks, including Tuscan antipasto mix and triple-cream brie.
Fine dining restaurant, Edge, is accessible only by boat and offers panoramic views of the ocean. Equally spectacular, and slightly more hearty, is the meeting of African, Asian and South American cuisines at Tribal, surrounded by fecund foliage and a bushfire. Multiple activities — many, unusually for the Maldives, away from the ocean — are what PER AQUUM Niyama is all about. The energetic vibe, captured in punchy buzzwords — Float (water sports), Quench (spa/juice bar) and Active (computer games, sports simulators, pool table, darts and ping-pong) — should please the more energetic, young and young at heart. Enjoy.
How to Get There
This has been my 4th time visit in this stunning island paradise and it is always a pleasure to stay. I celebrated my birthday here and I couldn't have chosen a better place to enjoy it but here. There was a wide range selection of dining outlets which is a great factor. You must try their African themed outlet TRIBAL...Its like a mini jungle in the middle of the resort. It was one of its kind it the Maldives.
My birthday was so memorable because Housekeeping team gave me a surprise. Each time I go back to my villa, there would be something to melt my heart from the bed decoration, cookies in a jar, balloons and bubble bath..WOW! I felt pampered in every way possible. You guys rock! I am sorry I couldn't remember your names but know that your gesture made me feel like a royalty, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I only have great things to say about your property to family, friends and followers.
Dear Haf & Team
Many thanks for the fantastic holiday we have enjoyed in your wonderful resort. It could not have been better. The island is perfect for people with kids, who like watersports or just want to relax.
You can be proud of your staff. The most amazing experience we had throughout our whole
journey in Dubai/Sri Lanka/Maldives. If we should ever come back to the Maldives your island
would be the location we would choose. Why something else if it is so wonderful?!
Wicham (Thakuru): Very nice and smart person. Unfortunately we have not used him too often. We used the bikes, so no need for any transportation, and got so good services from the restaurant staff.
Steven, an excellent service driven manager and very smart. Except two times we always had buffet at the Epicure. Why? Because of the team and mainly because Teddy & Luthiry. Absolutely great people! We love them!
In some cases they got the support from Ravi the restaurant manager from Nest (unfortunately we never used). He is also absolutely great.
Cem who is responsible for the bar was always very supportive and was an active manager. The SurfShake with Davron and the lady from Kenya (sorry missed the name) we would at any time hire :-)!
We have spent a fortune for or our great surf lessons. The team was just great! Thank you so much to Mark and Ricardo!
Not only those people mentioned above were exceptional, there were many more. E.g. Roger the best sport animator we ever met, other staff etc. ….
Niyama is a wonderful resort. The resort consists of two small islands connected by a bridge. Everything is Perfect. They offer both overwater and beach villas. There are six restaurants to choose from, a chic relaxing indoor, outdoor bar. The spa was wonderful, I had the best oxygen facial I have ever had. Truly the best. I also loved that they offer IV therapy from a company out of Beverly Hills, CA US, Beverly HIlls IV Therapy. They are high quality, organic IVs. I felt completely refreshed with no jet lag and was able to dive right into my holiday feeling great! The spa also carried a lovely collection of beautiful products; face cremes, beautiful parfum, and some healing jewelry. There was so many other amenities I enjoyed.. kayaking, fitness classes, 2 relaxing pools, etc. My daughter loved the kids club and my husband was crazy about the scuba.. he became certified while we were there. It's truly beautiful and like living in a post card. I have visited a few times now and this review is well over due. I am looking forward to returning again.
