Peaceful, remote island resort for adults
Reviewed 2 days ago

Everything from arrival to departure exceeded our expectations. It's a remote, special small island. When a cyclone hit and seaplanes weren't operating, the management went above and beyond to get us to our next travel plan (a diving boat).

As a same-sex couple, we felt welcomed from the start, just as the other guests. We look forward to returning sometime soon. Thanks to everyone at the Milaidhoo Family for making our visit exceptional. (This review is long overdue.)

Paradise

This trip will go down as one of the best of our lives. The island and the resort are absolutely spectacular - secluded, quiet, peaceful, gorgeous. The overwater villas are decorated perfectly, so your eyes just see the blue of the ocean and the blue of the sky. We sat out on our swing most nights and fell asleep looking out at the stars. Our butler Majda was welcoming from the very start and made sure to attend to our every need. We were so happy to detach from every part of our lives - we TRULY got to recharge and connect. Prior to travel I had searched reviews to figure out what I needed to bring, and could not find that information, so let me help out with that in my review. Firstly, ditch the shoes. We wore nothing but flip flops, and they encourage a barefoot stay. Don't waste luggage space. Amenities like shampoo, conditioner, body wash, a toothbrush and toothpaste, loofah, and a razor are all provided. They also leave a beach bag and two sarongs in your room as a gift, so leave yours at home! You can dress as casually or as nice as you'd like. It truly feels like it's just you on the island, so be comfortable. In terms of dining, I would recommend signing up for at least half board, as the restaurants are expensive. Breakfast at Ocean was delicious, with one of the most amazing cheese displays I have ever seen anywhere. Every single waitstaff member works incredibly hard to make sure you have every need met. Our favorite restaurant for dinner was Ba'theli. We went there twice and loved it both times. We also had the unique opportunity to visit another hotel, Anantara, as we had booked our anniversary dinner there (not realizing that it's not that easy to get between islands). Seeing another island and hotel only made us MORE thankful for our own. This is truly a place for romance and recharging. The minimum age for children is 9, which is also wonderful. We have two little ones we left at home to come on this vacation, and it was nice to be surrounded by adults. The Serenity Spa is also quite fabulous. My husband and I had a couple's massage and scrub for our anniversary, and they treated us so wonderfully. Champagne and fruits were served up during our services. The morning yoga class offered at the spa is also quite nice. If you have some bad weather, which we did during a few days of our stay, my recommendation is to walk across to the other side of the island, as the ocean seems to be choppy only on side. Despite the rain, we still had the most incredible time and will definitely plan on returning here in the future. Thank you to all of you!

It’s gorgeous without being pretentious. They will think of everything you can possibly dream of, and go beyond expectations in every way. It’s lush, highly recommend. Don’t take your kids, it’s very much a couples place I’d say.

Six stars

What a fantastic island, with the best staff ever.
From being met at the jetty by the manager and staff to being waved away after our stay, we felt totally special.
The water villa was amazing, with your own pool and steps to the sea, the food was Michelin star and the staff, every one of them, from customer facing to the gardeners, were incredibly polite and friendly.
The sun was very intense, so the suncream was priority but we spent most of our time snorkeling.
What a fantastic place, ideal to unwind and relax. A six star island.

I never really wanted to visit the Maldives after visiting the disappointment that was Fiji but now I am ruined forever. This place is absolutely wonderful and I would never stay anywhere else. The staff is very knowledgeable about their product, they are efficient and extremely nice. I've never received this level of service from start to finish. As soon as you get to Male Airport they pick you up and you can be worry free from that point on until you go back to Male. When you arrive at the airport the staff is already waiting for you, they take you back to their lounge while you wait for your seaplane. The staff handles everything. Once you arrive to the island, you are received by the hotel staff including upper management and there you are introduced to your butler. He provides you with a cellphone to use for any requests you may have throughout your stay. The island is mosquito free and a shoeless resort. All you need is your clothes, the room has everything you may need, including universal outlets. You have one person who tends to you the entire time and therefore, knows what you may or may not like. We absolutely loved this place and intend on coming back here. I am very lucky to have found such a place. I have looked at magazines that talk about the other resorts in the Maldives but none of those seem to even come close to being as excellent and perfect as Milaidhoo. Thank you so much Ihu and staff.
