Top notch all the way

Booked this as part of an Emirates Vacations package, and it definitely lived up to expectations. We stayed for 5 nights, and I could have easily stayed a couple more nights because the whole experience was so relaxing. We had the basic all inclusive food package, and we were totally satisfied with it. The buffet themes change nightly, so you aren't eating the same thing everyday, and the variety of food was incredible. Plenty to choose from, including dessert. Most people were extremely casually dressed for dining, so no need to bring anything special.

We went late May, and the forecast was rainy, but we only experienced a few rain showers, not bad enough to derail any plans. We stayed in a deluxe beach villa with jacuzzi (which we ended up not using because it does take awhile to heat up, and we never planned in advance). The outdoor shower was awesome, and they provide all the toiletries you need (including toothbrush). Housekeeping was twice a day, but we oftentimes declined evening service so we could stay in our room and relax before dinner. Was also a relief that the AC worked really well.

It never felt crowded. In fact, we didn't realize how many people were there until it was time to depart via speedboat. There are so many dining choices, pools, beach loungers, etc. that you aren't forced to interact with anyone or snorkel on top of one another.

Bugs weren't an issue. Only got a couple of mosquito bites, and there weren't sandflies.

I am a non swimmer but never felt uncomfortable here. There are lifejackets available, and plenty of people wear them. I loved the house reef because I could snorkel at my leisure and rest when I need to. Just make sure to check the tide chart because at low tide, you're way too close to the coral. Hubby did some excursions, and they're actually affordable. You just sign up at the excursion centre, so it's very low pressure, no one selling you anything. Sunset cruise was included in our vacay package, and although it was too cloudy for a nice sunset, we did see dolphins. Rasdhoo Island wasn't really worth the time, and the souvenirs aren't any different (or cheaper) than at the airport or Kuramathi's boutiques.

Gym looks a bit outdated, but there's enough free weights and machines. The island has plenty of activities to keep you entertained- karaoke a couple times a week, DJs, disco, movie night, etc. The bars stay open late, so it was really nice to lounge there, and there are non alcoholic mocktails on the menus.

All of the staff are really wonderful and friendly. They're unobtrusive but will engage in conversation if you'd like to. I have deep respect and appreciation for their hard work. It is no small feat to keep an island that size so well maintained.

Great time at Kuramathi!

We just came back from a five-night vacation at Kuramathi. While our original goal was simply to check Maldives off our bucket list, the experience at Kuramathi certainly surpassed our expectation by a wide margin. We stayed at beach villa with Jacuzzi (category V3) for four nights and paid for the upgrade to water villa (category V8) for one night. We enjoyed both room types tremendously. The biggest pluses for this resort are the size of the island and the incredible sand bank. Even with about 300 villas on the island and occupancy rate over 80%, we never felt crowded anywhere in restaurants, bars, pools, beach, etc. With lots of trees including giant banyan trees, part of the island felt like a tropical jungle. We walked everywhere (average 20000 steps per day) and used the free buggy rides only when we were tired or short on time. We snorkeled a few times near the pier and were amazed by the varieties of fish. It was the most enjoyable and relaxed snorkeling experience for us ever. The initial encounter with the blacktip reef shark was a little intimidating. But after a while, we got used to having these friendly sharks around. The sand bank was spectacular, especially at sunset. The sand bank alone is worth coming back for another trip. Among the three buffet restaurants, we liked the ambiance of Haruge (the one close to the main reception desk) the best. The food was above average for buffet food. Service staff were wonderful everywhere! Thank you Kuramathi! We can't wait to come back for a longer stay!

What can I say. From the moment you get picked up at the airport to the moment they drop you back it is a truly fantastic experience. Cannot recommend the resort highly enough. We went in low season and it was evident that the resort was not full but all the restaurants and facilities were still open. The villa we had was a deluxe jacuzzi villa. We did try it once but actually would not have minded if there was no jacuzzi. The villa was large and well equipped. In fact you probably do not need to bring any toiletries as there was even two toothbrushes. The space was excellent the bed comfortable and the air con brilliant. From the villa we stepped straight out onto the the magnificent beach on the lagoon side. Other than the sand bar probably the best beach on the island. The staff are all very helpful and extremely friendly (don't be surprised with the saying hello as you stroll around the island). The island is remarkably well looked after. The paths always being tended for instance. The wild life is extremely precious so please listen to the requests by the staff about your interactions with. None the less there is plenty to watch from the crab's, fruit bats, lizards and my favourite the friendly sharks which swim along the shore edge. The weather was as you would expect with occasional storms and showers but these passed quickly. Do not let this stop you wandering the beaches as the rain is warm. The best though is the sea which is always warm and especially the snorkeling which was truly fantastic. The gear for which is included. Go by the intermediate area by the jetties and go to the drop off🤩. I will stop here and cover the restaurants separately except to say try as many as you can but the island barbecue is the absolute best. Booking is recommended for tours/trips and restaurants so do so as soon as you get there.

We had heard a lot about the Maldives but this was our first visit. We had booked for a week - transit via Doha and arrive don the Island by Seaplane (another great experience).

From the moment we arrived on the Island to the moment we left it did not disappoint. We had paid extra for the A la carte all inclusive menus and had the lovely daily dilemma of deciding which restaurant to try that night (and for lunch). Having said that the all inclusive Buffet offerings looked lovely also.

We had one of the Superior Beach Villas, and the beauty of those is that they were centrally located near the main reception, but also shaded under the tropical foliage.

Whilst I understand it is a large island compared to some of the Islands in the Maldives, you never it was crowded. You always had secluded areas of the beach you could relax, or go out snorkelling.

The snorkelling (and diving) was fabulous, as were the Spa treatments. Overall the facilities were top notch, service absolutely first rate, and food was brilliant. It will be hard to beat this experience. Well done to the staff and management at Kuramathi!
