How to Get There
My wife and I could not have hoped for a better start to our honeymoon than at Komandoo, this island is truly paradise. The turquoise water, white sands, hundreds and hundreds of fishes that fill the stunning coral reef with even more colors... we found this resort to be, in one word, idyllic, what you imagine when you think of a perfect island paradise. But beyond that, what really made this experience so amazing and unforgettable was the awesome care, thoughtfulness, and sincere devotion to customer service from Solah and his staff (this talented, amazing, wonderful team could teach customer service to the best hotels/service providers in the world). Komandoo exceed all our wildest dreams, and expectations! Oh and the food was incredible, so good! We were lucky to be able to try both the breathtaking water villas and the cozy private jacuzzi beach villas, you can’t go wrong with either!
Been home for two weeks now after our second visit. Since last year Solah has taken over and so far made some changes, nothing too dramatic but subtle but have improved things no end.
Solah the GM himself is just how all the reviews have said, energetic, mindful of guests and also, importantly his staff or Champions because they certainly are.
Last year we stayed in Marlin 5 and asked if we could be accommodated in that villa or any between Marlin 5-8.
We had the drum and song welcome and cooling drink and delicious coconut ice cream. Solah came to meet us and we were impressed straight away.
Our wish was granted as we got Marlin 7, As usual the island was spotless all staff friendly and accommodating. we had a couple of minor issues with the room ( no power one day ) we reported it to reception and staff attended within 10 minutes and sorted it on both occasions, can’t fault that response and all done with a smile.
Our room boy was Ahmed who remembered us from last year, he adorned our bed with great towel art especially on the first night with a ‘Welcome Home’ and repeaters t-shirts.
Ahmed left us a little gift every night, Chocs, cookies, towel art or a thoughtful note.
When we went to the bars and restaurant staff from last year remembered us, Vinod who my wife adores ( he has a son of similar age to us ), Vipin who we usually saw in the Thundi bar, even our waiter from last year Amar! This year we had Wahab.
We attended the Repeaters evenings and really enjoyed them, and thought Solahs idea of being there for each evening and giving a speech an praising all his staff was great.
One word from a repeaters evening to Solah from Pam is ‘ Brazilian’, guests who were there, and Solah himself will know what I mean!
It was our wedding anniversary while we were there and Wahab made a special effort decorating the table we were very grateful.
Solah went to each table when guests were celebrating a special occasion to pass on his personal congratulations.Touches like this make the island and staff so special.
The food was fabulous as always with great variety, Nadha is an absolute gem a real character, she must never be allowed to leave!
I’ve rambled a bit but the island is a special place as are all of the staff especially those I’ve named and others I haven’t. I can’t see how Solah will be able to improve it any more but I’m sure he’ll try!
We are already trying to arrange our return next year ( hopefully in Marlin 7 again!)

This was our fourth visit (June 2019) to the beautiful island of Komandoo, and as a result, when we were escorted to our villa, we had a wooden plaque (front and back of the villa) with our names engraved on it, what a lovely touch. On entering the villa, we also saw that the bed was decorated with a “welcome home” message…just perfect.
We were fortunate enough to have visited last year too, and it was great to see many of the “Champions” whom we got know. If you have read my review from last year (other reviewers go into much more detail so I don’t need to), then you will be surprised to learn that this year was even better. Solah, the new General Manager is doing a fantastic job (he should run a training school for Maldives General Managers), and you can see that all of his “Champions” just love working on Komandoo…almost as much as we love being there.
My wife (Lesley) and I would like to say a big thank you to ALL of you on Komandoo for making our holiday so fabulous, and I want to say a personal thank you to Vinod for giving me the new name of “John-Sign”, much to my wife’s amusement. Vinod, Wijey, Vitri, and Damika were outstanding in attending to our every alcoholic need, always with a smile and a warm welcome…and a “John-Sign” from Vinod of course. The entertainment in the bar on an evening was first class too (one of the reasons we spent so much time there).
The food seems to get better each time we go too (thank you Ricardo), and Wahaab, our waiter looked after us every single day very efficiently, thank you so much!!
Rasheed and Nawal looked after our villa superbly (we experienced Nawal’s fantastic towel art last year), and without any fuss…it just could not be any better.
Anyway, needless to say we will be returning to Komandoo (as I said in my previous review, if you have never been, then just book it), but in the meantime, we would like to thank EVERYONE on the island for making our holiday (and Lesley’s birthday) so special, and hope to see you all again soon…very best regards to you all, John-Sign & Lesley xxx
