How to Get There
Komandoo exceeded all my expectations yet again, from the moment you arrive, you’re treated like royalty.
The Island is beautiful, accommodation superb, food excellent & the staff outstanding.
The house reef is sensational, I loved swimming with the turtles. The quality & variety of food has improved immensely. We enjoyed sunset drinks at the Aqua restaurant, followed by a fabulous dinner from the new menu, it was delicious.
Thank you to the GM & all your champions for making our stay amazing. We can’t wait to return.
We travelled to Komandoo on 5/4/18 and stayed for two weeks for the most amazing honeymoon. Having waited almost a year after getting married for our honeymoon, we were filled with anticipation and excitement. W had been watching tripadvisor and the Komandoo Facebook group closely and although our excitement was growing each day, we did have a few concerns.
1. Yes there is a local island opposite; no it is not an imposition. If your only requirement for your Maldives holiday is to have uninterrupted ocean views the sunset side of the island won’t be for you and neither will sitting outside of the resturant. We stayed on the sunset side for the first week in Coral 5 and had an amazing beach garden with brilliant snorkelling right on our ‘doorstep’ so to speak. At night the street lights (from the local island) were something that we didn’t love but it was a very small price to pay and it certainly wouldn’t stop us from going back. For our second week, we stayed in Eagle Ray 9 which had endless ocean views. We loved having stayed in both accommodations and felt each had its advantages and disadvantages (although these were only small - bites when staying on the beach (yes they do spray but some survive!!!!) and a lack of lighting on the decking in the water villa which led to some very painful stubbed toes and a black toe nail...) wherever you chose to stay, both places were a piece of paradise and I would never be upset to wake up to the amazing views we did.
During our trip, we made good use of the dive facilities. All of the instructors were amazing and we felt completely spoilt in having our equipment set up for us each day! The dive sites were amazing but I would suggest having your advanced qualification. As an open water diver, I was lucky that the island was relatively quiet so I had a good choice in the dives I could do however if you were just doing afternoon dives (which weee suitable for open water divers) this might not be the case during peak season.
The staff work tirelessly and are all amazing! The food was also fantastic and even after being there for two weeks there was not too much repetition. Curries, salads, fresh pasta and deserts are available every day along with a theme and live cooking stations (you will never go hungry!!!) you can also ask for ice cream each day which made my husband incrdiably happy as he was very disappointed it was not always available.
An aboleutly amazing honeymoon and we would love to return!
After 2 previous stays on this paradise island I really did not think it could be any better.
On arrival, I could see the island has seen extensive planting of vibrant flowers and plants adding to the idyllic feel. The choice of food in the buffet restaurant has increased including more mouth watering salads, freshly cooked pasta dishes, daily baked pastries and breads, along with delicious deserts and the amazing bbq station with the best garlic naan bread in the world (thx Arun). The new menu in the Aqua restaurant is a must, my grilled Beef Fillet was exceptional.
The main change I have noticed on this return is the morale and attitude of all of the staff. The new General Manager Solah has an undeniable passion for ensuring guests have the perfect stay. He was often visible interacting with staff and guests which we personally experienced. His passion emulates to all of his champions, creating such an enjoyable and unique atmosphere which I haven't experienced before, making me not wanting to leave.
I truly cannot wait to return
Special thanks to GM Solah, Madah, Riza, Arun, Dammika, Vinod, Vipin, Sanwar & Nawal
A fantastic resort and a truly beautiful place to spend a holiday or special moment. Everything was top notch from the staff, food, accommodation, aquatic life, and facilities. Prepare to be completely amazed! :)
The Maldives is definitely a magical place and Komandoo offers the perfect retreat for those looking for Marine activities and peace and quiet. We chose this island primarily because it was adults only and offered superb diving facilities. We stayed in a beach villa and we wouldn’t have been persuaded to upgrade as we loved having our own piece of Komandoo beach and the outside shower added more exotic qualities to the accommodation. The bed was sumptuously comfortable making it very hard to get out of bed. Luckily, the view from our bed was of a beautiful beach and tranquil turquoise water tempting us every morning to embrace all the Maldives and Komandoo has to offer. Loved the sound system and excellent WiFi reception. I do feel it is necessary to provide a large magnified mirror in the bathroom which I relayed to the staff who were always asking for ways to improve the resort. It’s nice to feel that your opinion matters.
The food was of excellent quality from the salads to desserts. We also had a beach dinner and Aqua dinner both prepared by Krishna - an excellent and genteel chef who you could see was passionate about his food and ensured we enjoyed every mouthful. Our Sunday beach dinner was absolutely delicious.
We thoroughly enjoyed being invited to watch the KPL ( Komandoo Premier League) and tasting Maldivian snacks- There were some very interesting football skills on show -
Solah , the general manager , was constantly visible around the resort and clearly leads by example however it’s a shame he supports Arsenal😀.
All the staff are fantastic, apologies if your name has not got a mention. Samwar went out of his way to ensure we were made to feel special; he has a great sense of humour and pretty good dancing moves. The ladies in the Spa were so attentive and provided a much needed massage which I could only describe as being a relaxing and sensual experience. Faisal - great laugh! Asita, Riza and Munaz - fab waiters.
Apart from opting for the beach dinner and Aqua dinner we also went on the sailing trip which included snorkelling in some absolutely beautiful and stunning reefs. The crew of the Muna boat were very attentive and provided a great day with lots of food and soft drinks. The Snorkelling guide made some great finds including a Stone fish.
Diving was world class, with an outstanding dive operation on site.
Things to improve. the merchandise we felt was overpriced and maybe more variety in the entertainment evenings , we loved the Maldivian night especially as it got the guests up and joining in but understand that generally people don’t go there for that type of holiday .
Thank you everyone at Komandoo for making us feel welcome and special.
