Excelent, luxury in a relaxed athmophere.

My wife and I spent 6 days and nights in this paradise island. The most amasing thing is that the island was more or less fully booked but you still had the feeling of being on a virgin island. We were in a water villa. Snorkeling on the reef just 50 m out from the villa was world class. Service, food athmosphere was excelent. Transport from Male and back super well organized. We had an early take off and the see plane was booked especially for us. What a service. Villa Host extremely helpful with booking restaurants and organising everything for us. Definetely not the last time in paradise Kanuhura. Thank you for a wonderful honeymoon. And thank you to Voya travel, Copenhagen for finding this wonderful place and planning everything.

Whilst this was our 4th trip to the Maldives it was our first to Kanuhura.

From start to finish this was a wonderful holiday.

We were met at the airport and whisked in an air conditioned car to the comfortable Kanuhura lounge in the sea plane terminal. After a 45 minute sea plane trip we arrived to the beat of Maldivian drums and a very warm Kanuhura welcome.

Our water villa was spacious and stunning. With over water hammocks, direct access to the ocean and the most amazing bathroom with an outdoor bath and an over water hammock to watch the fish at night. We saw a huge stingray, baby sharks, lots of blue snapper and many other fish without even leaving our hammocks! We were on the sunrise side and benefited from ocean breezes.

Swimming every afternoon in the sea outside our villa was a real highlight. The waters are clean and shallow.

The island itself is unusual in being surrounded by powder soft sandy beaches. Walking all the way round is gentle exercise and you can always stop off at the Iru bar on the way. The Iru bar is the best place to enjoy sunset with plenty of eclectic seating including tepees, it's a fun place to enjoy a cocktail.

Food is good quality and there's plenty of variety. We liked having 3 different restaurants in different locations. Veli was a real favourite serving Asian style food. Bottega is Italian with a twist. Al Mano is the main buffet restaurant with a different theme every night. We're not fans of buffets usually but these were great. Our favourite was the Fishermans Catch. Nothing beats freshly grilled lobster on the beach with a nice chilled bottle of sauvignon blanc!

Breakfast was in Al Mano and fantastic. You're spoilt for choice with fresh fruit prepared in front of you, breakfast dishes to suit all nationalities and eggs cooked to order. We got way too used to having prosecco for breakfast!

We stayed for 2 weeks but were never bored. We enjoyed the most relaxing massages in the stunningly tranquil spa; a delicious lunch over at Drift on their sister island; an amazing castaway adventure on their deserted island complete with picnic; lazing away days watching the fish swim by; a tour of their orchid nurseries; a fantastic sunset cruise when we were lucky enough to watch dolphins frolic alongside us; and we planted our very own tree.

The highlight of our experiences though had to be the most amazing private dinner on Jehanuhura. We arrived by boat to find a table for 2 set on the beach within a lit up heart with the most fantastic light features around us including a happy birthday message. It was truly incredible and a memory that will live with us for ever.

As always, none of this could happen without the most amazing team. From the grounds team to front of house, all were wonderful. However, special mention must go to chefs Eddie and Vijay and their teams for such delicious food; Ismail for looking after us at Iru; Rochelle and Clovia for finding us our favourite wine each night; Natasha and Inoka in Al Mano; Abdul for making our sunset cruise so much fun; Roshan and Ahmed for showing us how to split orchids and doing the hard work when we planted our tree; Mehesh and Vel for all things food and beverage, such great stories and suggestions; Oli for dodging round us with her bike; Ahzam and our housekeeper.

But there were 2 superstars who deserve special mention who went over and beyond every day.
Raja in Al Mano - meals will never be the same without you, your service truly came from your heart and you anticipated every wish.
And Aroon, our destination dining maestro. It was such a delight to see you again. Your care, attention and creativity were outstanding - the memories you helped us create will last a lifetime. We can't wait to see what you're going to do next year!!!

Thank-you to everyone for a wonderful holiday. We're already planning our next visit!

Paradise really does exist

Went for our 25th Wedding Anniversary (Also a 25 year wait for the honeymoon!) It was worth the wait & saving to go back. Everything about this resort & the staff there is amazing. We were lucky enough to receive an upgrade, so stayed in a beach villa with pool, which was so beautiful & private with an incredible bathroom. The attention to detail is fantastic & they supply everything you could need, inc sarongs & beach bag. We loved using the bikes & they even supplied a child's bike for me! The whole resort is 5 star but a really relaxed/casual elegance with most people barefoot or in flip flops. We enjoyed the games room & Squash (both air conditioned) & Tennis when it wasn't too hot! Not a great swimmer but great snorkelling without having to go to deep, especially from the smaller island they have as well, this really felt like being on a desert Island. We were on half board & found this enough with choice of 3 fantastic restaurants included. Breakfast is brilliant & the main buffet style has a different theme most days so you don't get bored. We also loved really loved the Italian & Asian fusion restaurants. Local beer is quite reasonable for a luxury resort, other alcoholic drinks are not cheap but unless you want expensive wine every night, cost is fine. You have a Villa host assigned to you who will help with any requirements & like all the staff here, they can't do enough for you & give amazing friendly service. We enjoyed the outdoor cinema experience, all movie watching should be like this! Our normal holidays involve lots of sightseeing but couldn't believe how much we enjoyed being here & being relaxed, just enjoying the beauty of where we were & being together. Needless to say the beach is stunning (with hundreds of tiny crabs) & the water is warm like a bath & stunningly clear. Take the time to be on the beach to watch the Incredible sunsets in the evening. Honestly too many great things to mention. Finally it is very rare to go somewhere that is even more beautiful than the pictures.
