What We Love

  • The all-inclusive rate includes all meals, alcohol and soft drinks, use of snorkeling equipment, non-motorized water sports, one dhoni boat excursion per stay, and movies on-demand
  • The Robinson Crusoe–like feel of the resort
  • The house reef just off the resort’s talcum powder beach
  • The on-site dive center and access to some of the world’s top diving sites
  • The spa, with eight suites that open up to the warm winds of the lagoon

What To Know

  • Singles, beware: Constance Moofushi is popular with honeymooners
  • The resort isn’t as lavish as its sister, Constance Halaveli; interiors are rustic-chic

Overview

All-inclusive barefoot luxury at its best, with sandy-floored restaurants, beach bars and elegant villas

The Lowdown

In the South Ari Atoll, one of the world’s top dive spots, Constance Moofushi is as much a mecca for aspiring Jacque Cousteau types as it is for lovebirds seeking a Robinson Crusoe–esque escape. But you can forget making like a castaway: this is island living in serious style. Slow your pace by luxuriating in the comfort of the resort’s 110 rustic-elegant bungalows, or dine on fresh fish with your feet in the white sand or on a terrace hovering above the crystal clear lagoon. Guests have a choice of thatch-roofed Beach Villas, each with its own private terrace (complete with swaying hammock), or stilted Water Villas, with stairways that descend directly into the Indian Ocean. All villas combine rattan and bamboo furnishings, stripped wood, and rough-hewn stone with such creature comforts as air conditioning and flat-screen televisions. The resort is all-inclusive, which means that buffet meals at the sandy-floored Manta restaurant, sunset cocktails at either of the two casual, feet-in-sand bars and other extras, such as one 90-minute boat excursion per person, per stay, are included. Take a break from the buffet at Manta for dinner at Alizee Beach Grill, where just-caught fish is cooked on a charcoal grill, or have the culinary team set up a beach barbecue for a romantic dinner under the stars. Treatments at the Spa de Constance, an indulgent overwater wellness retreat with eight treatment rooms and a dedicated yoga pavilion, are extra, but they’re well worth the splurge.

In the Area

The on-site dive center has PADI certificate courses for beginners as well as specialist shark and manta ray dive courses, and divers will love the easy access to more than 30 dive sites — including Maamigili Beru, stomping ground for whale sharks, and Hukuru Elhi Faru, known as Manta Point. Come nightfall, organized night fishing expeditions will have you hauling in snapper, tuna and grouper using hand lines; while during the day masks, snorkels and fins are free to guests. The resort provides three different recommended snorkel routes, including one ideal for beginners. Back on dry land you can play a game of chess or watch a movie in the entertainment lounge, wallpapered in Bollywood movie posters.

You simply have to go!

We’ve just returned from an amazing 10 day family holiday at Moofushi and simply had to leave a review. If you want a truly chilled holiday, with stunning, personal service, great food and the most incredible natural beauty. this place is for you. Constance are a brand that always deliver and have done so once again. I could list he names of so many special staff and wax lyrical about all the highlights, but it’s probably best summarised as ‘just go’ and ‘we will be back’. Thank you Sasha and your amazing team.

No News No Shoes

Feeling a luxury Robinson Crusoe on this island is very easy. The little wooden sign at arrival saying "No News No Shoes" is illustrating perfectly the atmosphere and the absence of desire to use cell phones and or tablets. Just relax in a beach cabin only e couple of meters from the warm and clear sea water. It is an amazing experience that could be called a once in a life time but we will be back, that is for sure.

Superb snorkelling! My happy place

As a family we choose our resorts in the Maldives which have house reefs. This I think is in the Top10, and it did NOT disappoint. There is a very long reef near the pool area, one from the main beach and then another very near the reception area. This year we saw turtles, stonefish, lionfish, a ton of moray eels, octopus, stingrays and obviously sharks. One morning I was out snorkelling and a french couple drew my attention to a massive MANTA RAY which had swum then length of the reef with them, I only got to experience it for a good 2 minutes, but one of the greatest experiences i have had. I was considering doing a diving course just to see them! It was magnificent. We left today and waiting for our plane we saw dolphins. Brought a tear to my eye ;i did not want to leave. The island is small, intimate, 110 rooms in total. 2 restaurants. Wasn’t so sure of ALL INCLUSIVE At the beginning of the week, only because I am not a big fan of buffets every day, but I have changed my mind and enjoyed the diversity. I cannot fault the service, the food, the breakfasts, the friendly staff, superb management, and helping us create such happy
memories. We stayed in the water villas and initially felt it to be small (with a 12 yr old son, and no bathtub ????i lovvvvve my baths), had a look at their bigger villas which were pretty gorgeous too, and obviously cost more.???? No private pools on this island. If i were to nitpick I’d say that the pool is their weak point. Although its pretty, it has a small deck and doesnt have the wow factor. The pool bar is lovely and you can eat there too, a la carte. After 6 Maldives islands, this was one of my favourites AND DEFINITELY MY BEST ONE WHEN IT COMES TO SNORKELLING.
