All-Inclusive Resorts Beachfront Bedroom Hotels Island Luxury Romance Romantic property Resort Villa home Suite hardwood cottage living room farmhouse mansion

All-inclusive barefoot luxury at its best, with sandy-floored restaurants, beach bars and elegant villas

The Lowdown

In the South Ari Atoll, one of the world’s top dive spots, Constance Moofushi is as much a mecca for aspiring Jacque Cousteau types as it is for lovebirds seeking a Robinson Crusoe–esque escape. But you can forget making like a castaway: this is island living in serious style. Slow your pace by luxuriating in the comfort of the resort’s 110 rustic-elegant bungalows, or dine on fresh fish with your feet in the white sand or on a terrace hovering above the crystal clear lagoon. Guests have a choice of thatch-roofed Beach Villas, each with its own private terrace (complete with swaying hammock), or stilted Water Villas, with stairways that descend directly into the Indian Ocean. All villas combine rattan and bamboo furnishings, stripped wood, and rough-hewn stone with such creature comforts as air conditioning and flat-screen televisions. The resort is all-inclusive, which means that buffet meals at the sandy-floored Manta restaurant, sunset cocktails at either of the two casual, feet-in-sand bars and other extras, such as one 90-minute boat excursion per person, per stay, are included. Take a break from the buffet at Manta for dinner at Alizee Beach Grill, where just-caught fish is cooked on a charcoal grill, or have the culinary team set up a beach barbecue for a romantic dinner under the stars. Treatments at the Spa de Constance, an indulgent overwater wellness retreat with eight treatment rooms and a dedicated yoga pavilion, are extra, but they’re well worth the splurge.

In the Area

The on-site dive center has PADI certificate courses for beginners as well as specialist shark and manta ray dive courses, and divers will love the easy access to more than 30 dive sites — including Maamigili Beru, stomping ground for whale sharks, and Hukuru Elhi Faru, known as Manta Point. Come nightfall, organized night fishing expeditions will have you hauling in snapper, tuna and grouper using hand lines; while during the day masks, snorkels and fins are free to guests. The resort provides three different recommended snorkel routes, including one ideal for beginners. Back on dry land you can play a game of chess or watch a movie in the entertainment lounge, wallpapered in Bollywood movie posters.

Absolutely amazing trip!
Reviewed 8 hours ago

Had an amazing honeymoon with my wife and could not have asked for a better experience! Everyone we got to meet was incredible and worked incredibly hard to make the trip special for us. Would recommend to anyone who is looking to get away and not have a care in the world. The drink selection was incredible, and Joseph, Christopher, Thanash, and the whole team did such an amazing job that we are partly inspired to become sommeliers ourselves! The diving was absolutely beautiful and getting my qualification there was a simple and fun process. I cant rave about the food enough, though my waistline certainly is complaining now. Thank you to the whole team for the experience, and we hope to come back as soon as life allows us to!

Amazing all round

My wife & I have just returned from The Constance Moofushi. This place is truly amazing. The staff were absolutely fantastic from start to finish. The food is very good too. We cannot fault this place at all. We are both divers & can honestly say that the dive school staff ( Bluetribe ) were the best we have ever had the pleasure to dive with. In particular Chacha, Nazim , Chuck , Giovanni, Jalle to name but a few. It was our wedding anniversary whilst we were there & the service we received on our special day was even better than we were already getting too. How they did this is beyond words. If you are looking for a truly relaxing time then this is the place to go. We stayed in a Senior Water Villa (78) which was very spacious for us & had amazing views of The Indian Ocean with shark passing by, Eagle rays, Turtles & much more. The sharks don’t bite by the way.
This place was that good that we are already in the process of booking again for next year.
You wont be disappointed if you go to this island!!!!!

Amazing place with amazing people

What a wonderful island from the golden beaches, clear blue sea to the lovely friendly staff. We were made to feel very welcome by Mevin when we arrived and the room was stunning.

We ate in the Manta restaurant daily and the food provided by Sven and his team was wonderful and so much variety.

The reefs off the island are perfect for snorkeling with the mask and fins provided, we snorkeled every day and saw turtles, rays, sharks and lots of trigger fish.

The island has a marine biologist, Jasmine, who does regular evening talks on wildlife to be found in the area including whales sharks and coral which are interesting and informative. Jasmine also runs the coral frames which enables guests sponsor and help build the frames which aid reef prorogation after bleaching, this proved to be a very enjoyable and absorbing morning.

The hotel does a back of house tour which I found very interesting and gives an insight into the challenges of running a hotel on a Maldivian island.

We did a couple of trips from the island with Mauro from Blue Tribe to snorkel on a reef and see dolphins. We had a first time snorkeler on the trip who was quite nervous but Mauro was brilliant with him and he got to see his first turtle in the wild.

Over all a wonderful, friendly piece of paradise with excellent service. A big thank you to Adam, Ahmed, Paradeesh and the rest of Sasha's team for making our holiday so special.

Perfect Paradise

We’ve just returned from 10 days at Constance Moofushi and it was literally perfect. As well as being stunning, the hotel itself is seamlessly run and emphasises discreet, relaxed service for a comfortable stay. We were there for our honeymoon and the staff made our visit feel very special, like we were guests of honour.

I honestly think we ran out of superlatives; if you’re looking for a relaxing, beautiful paradise to retreat to, I can’t recommend anywhere so highly. As well as this, there are enough activity choices to make sure that, if you want a more active stay, you have plenty of choices for things to occupy your time; from dolphin spotting, to wine tasting on a deserted sandbank, to enjoying a private cinema viewing under the stars. It’s not cheap, but would be excellent value at twice the price.

It was the perfect way to start our lives together, and I would particularly thank the GM Sasha, as well as Shamil, Saif, Kanako, Nunnu, Thanesh, James and the rest of the staff for making us feel so welcome and taking such good care of us.

We will definitely go back!

Honeymoon that dreams are made of!

We are a little late with this review to our shame! Our wedding and honeymoon last year was a fantastic whirlwind and the year since continued that way hence the late review.
On arrival at the airport in Male, we were whisked away to the Constance private lounge which was bliss. The staff there were wonderful and it helped us get our second wind after a long journey.
Seaplane journey over, we land at Moofushi - no news, no shoes !!! Wow - what a place. The greeting staff and management were just wonderful and we were taken to reception to put our shoes in a bag and put on our complimentary flip flops!
After checking in (very easy and stress free), we were taken to our room. Having travelled to the Maldives a few times before, we had never really justified the cost or the isolation of an over water villa, but this being our honeymoon we had decided to push to the boat out an book one. All I can say is that we could kick ourselves for never having done it before !!
The room was fabulous (albeit it needed a little work to repair some small areas of damage on the floor etc but did not detract from our experience).
A bottle of fizz awaited us as well as fruit and chocolates - very nice touch.
The villas are a good size and comfortable. The wardrobes are fabulous - giant old fashioned travelling trunks, what a great idea and we loved them ! Mini bar was excellent and perfect for days when we lounged on our deck.
The sea life here is the best we have ever encountered - rays in abundance, sharks, massive schools of fish, and a turtle that we watched only a few feet away from us for well over half an hour. The coral garden that the island marine biologists are creating (to the left side of the jetty as you walk out to the sea and facing reception) was out of this world. There is a HUGE ray that goes around the sandy area more or less level with the end of the jetty around late afternoon and there were large fish that would sidle up against us and just swim happily along with us like we were part of the shoal ! Look out for the huge zig zag clams, giant clams, nudibranchs, octopus, and everything and anything in-between.
Our only negative on the marine side of this island was the scandalous prices for whale shark trips - they were over 6 times the price of what we paid when in Vilamendhoo (same atol, just across the lagoon) and with no guarantee you would see any and for nothing anymore special about the trip, it just seemed like a huge money making scam and took the shine off something we desperately wanted to do again but we refused to be ripped off.
So the hotel. The staff you cannot fault, everyone is simply wonderful from the gardeners who talk you through what they are planting and growing to the management.
The food is THE BEST we have ever had on holiday - the choices, quality, quantity were unparalleled. I asked a waiter for the recipe for the sri-lankan chicken soup and the executive chef came out with the recipe, instructions and his email address should I need help making it !! Fantastic !
The bar staff are brilliant, they have a chat but give you space. The drinks are fabulous and the cocktails are simply wonderful.
Sommeliers assist you at lunch and dinner with wine choices which were incredible and we thoroughly enjoyed the advice and have taken that home which has given us such a great experience when choosing wines at home now we understand our palettes.
There isn't much on in regards to entertainment - although at Manta bar they do try with a DJ who plays great island tunes and they had dance nights and local nights which were very enjoyable. Many guests will say hello and have a chat to you which was unlike some of the other islands we have visited where people have kept to themselves.
Around the beautiful garden, you find all sorts of hidden gems and photo opportunity areas. walk to the end of both of the water villa piers - you won't be disappointed. At the end of the pier nearest the pool, around mid afternoon a huge shoal of eagle rays goes past more or less every day. Of the end of the pier and to the right is a small reef area that has massive shoals of fish - but watch the current as it can be fast at this point. There is a also a large shark that people kept saying they were seeing off the villa pier nearest reception, although we didn't see one.
Underwater there are also 'photo stations' - keep your eye out.
Look out for the ray under the sea plane pier at night and the white moray eel that goes around the shallows under the restaurant deck at night,
The spa was very nice - staff were professional and knowledgable and an absolute joy to be around. Treatments are on the pricy side but were justifiable and amazing !
Special mentions to Hassan Rifkhan, Gopan at Totem Bar, Adam & Benjamin in the restaurant, and Jayacody. I am so sorry but I cannot remember the wonder chefs name who gave me the recipe - I think he was from Germany. Great guy and we would come back if nothing more than for the food !!!
All in all, we were so sad to leave Moofushi. We would recommend it in a nano second and are saving for a return trip in the future.
Thank you to everyone at Moofushi for making our Honeymoon so very special and the absolute trip of a lifetime x
