Overview

The Review

From the moment you board the gleaming speedboat that whisks you from Malé’s aircraft carrier–like airport, past the turquoise rings that mark shallow coral reefs and shoals and pods of dolphins leaping in the distance, to the lush, boomerang-shaped island of Bodu Hithi, it’s clear that you’ve arrived. Holiday mode — with cool, scented towels and chilled bottles of water to ameliorate the humid tropical air — starts now.

Coco Bodu Hithi is a relatively new development. Built in 2006 as a high-end haven of luxury and service, there are six excellent restaurants, a water sports center and dive school, and a gorgeous spa — not to mention pristine stretches of white sand, a coral reef teeming with marine life just off the beach, and a glass-walled infinity pool.

The latter, the most recent addition to this already luxe property, comprise a sort of resort-within-a-resort set on its own oval-shaped pier.

Escape guests have access to a whole host of VIP perks, including a 24-hour butler, free buggy service around the island and airy bathrooms with Molton Brown toiletries. A sunset cruise and daily high tea are other benefits. And then there’s the private restaurant and bar, Stars, which serves modern Maldivian cuisine and hand-crafted cocktails.

The resort’s good looks, top-notch amenities and helpful staff are complemented by its proximity to a stunning house reef (around 30 feet away). Because, after all, the real star of the show is nature. Baby blacktip reef sharks cruise the shallows, hermit and ghost crabs roam the beach, and at night the ocean sparkles in myriad silvery shades, a mesmerizing display that makes it hard indeed to leave this amazing resort, tucked away in a discreet corner of the North Malé Atoll.

Excellent is an understatement!!!

I don’t know where to begin from. But trust me this place is a paradise. If you are looking to spend time in Maldives don’t go elsewhere. Coco Bodu Hithi is such a beautiful island resort that we fell in love with it. I went to Maldives to celebrate my 15th wedding anniversary with my wife and I’m glad I chose Coco Bodu Hithi.

Right from the time we got down at the island, everything was perfectly managed by the staff which is the best one can ever think of.

Being vegetarians we were a bit concerned about the food since we had opted for full on board meals. But the chefs took special care of us and made sure that we had the best food possible along with the Indian taste as we wanted it to be. I would like to make a special mention about chef Dominique and chef Manjula at the air restaurant and of course Mr. Manikfan who took such good care of us whenever we went for our meals.

We also enjoyed our villas - we stayed one night at island villa and 2 nights at water villa and all 3 nights were a great stay for us. All the villas are super spacious and have a private pool and a beautiful bath tub. The water villa opened in the ocean and it was such a great experience. Very well maintained resort and excellent staff.

The bar was excellent with some great cocktails and mocktails in the menu and At the bar we were taken good care by Vetrivel, Jyothi and Samira. You guys were so caring.

The spa is awesome as well and all treatments and massages were done by professional staff.

Now comes the most important mention- a very special mention about our guest manager Miss Cidgem. She was so caring that we never felt anything wrong about this place. She was very kind to look after our day to day things including arrangements of activities and our meals. she made special arrangements on our anniversary day by arranging us a separate table completely decorated with flowers and also sending us a champagne in our room along with a cake. We felt so special on our special day!! Thank you so very much Cidgem. We will really miss you and your hospitality.

We will surely come back again. Coco Bodu Hithi rocks !!! Keep up the good work guys !!! My best wishes.

Outstanding Amazing Island Property

We spent an Amazing honeymoon at Coco Bodu Hithi from 2nd to 6th Dec 2018, The experience was amazing, great views, stellar sunsets and outstanding staff service.

We checked in early on the 2nd and were very graciously checked into our island villa, which had an amazing view of the sea, turquoise waters, so clear that you can literally see whats underneath, coral fine sand and a sky that seems to bring the clouds down to the sea, it was a sensational experience. We had a private pool, and sitting on the beach chairs staring at the sea is a memory we will cherish for life!

On the 4th we checked into our Water villa which was upgraded to Coco Residence!.....The room had a magnificent view of the sea, with a private bed and pool overlooking the starry sky.

People sometimes ask us what were you doing just sitting and staring at the sea for so many days, but we would say it only in in a place like this you realise how much doing nothing means....simple things like staring at the sea, looking for sunsets and talking seems to make time slow down and makes the whole affair very personalised and intimate.

On our last day, we got a call from reception saying our checkout was extended till 1.30 and we would like to personally thank the General Manager for this kindness. We left with happy memories....The latitude lounge which served us beverages till late at night...the kindness of the staff especially Naba, Sujata and many others made it a memorable Honeymoon.

Wish the team all the best and many more memories to come...we would love to come back.....it the small thnigs you all do that makes this a trip of a lifetime!

Just excellent!

We spent 5 days at the resort, as part of our honeymoon.

The speedboat trip took around 35mins and was enjoyable. The staff in the boat ensured that we had fun, allowing us to control part of the ride and explaining about the resort and the island, along the way. Check-in experience was also great. We were greeted by a gentleman named Ashfaq who took his time to explain about the resort, amenities, etc.

We had paid for half-board, so Ashfaq detailed how this works. In brief, buffet breakfast (at Air restaurant) and dinner are provided. Dinner can be either buffet or A La Carte at Air or A La Carte at any of the other restaurants. The allowance on A La Carte is $72 per person. Unfortunately, all the other restaurants were booked out, so we only had the option to try Air and Stars (resort kindly arranged a Honeymoon dinner for us at Stars). Buffet breakfast and dinner at Air was ok at best, nothing spectacular.

We stayed at the west-facing (sunset views) Coco Residences villa. It was excellent and facilities were amazing). One thing to note is that the resort provides guests with 2x bottles of water a day. Suggest that you take water with you when you go for dinner, as they do charge per bottle if you dont have water with you ($7 for 1ltr and $5 for smaller bottles + 18% tax).

We were particularly happy with the service received from staff. My wife was ill for a couple of days, but the staff was very helpful by suggesting and preparing special kinds of tea (Ginger, Turmeric, etc.) to aid in her recovery. Thanks very much to Benoy and Mohan for their service throughout.

Unfortunately did not get to try water sports, but we did do the Afternoon Fishing (although didn't catch any due to a reasonably rough sea). That said, the service provided by the 'water sports counter staff' could have been better.

Overall, a great experience and will definitely come back.

Great Hotel, Great Features and Great Diving

Rooms were spacious, private and nice. The staff that maintained the island were very pleasant were at hand very quickly.
The island itself is small which is good, its more intimate and gives more of a feel for the Maldives instead of being busy or having roads on islands etc.
The infinity pool overlooks the sunset, the entertainment was great.
There was a new band that came to do a trial (guitarist had an Afro) - they were superb!! played some Hindi Classics and had a great diverse selection of songs!
