Overview

The Review

From the moment you board the gleaming speedboat that whisks you from Malé’s aircraft carrier–like airport, past the turquoise rings that mark shallow coral reefs and shoals and pods of dolphins leaping in the distance, to the lush, boomerang-shaped island of Bodu Hithi, it’s clear that you’ve arrived. Holiday mode — with cool, scented towels and chilled bottles of water to ameliorate the humid tropical air — starts now.

Coco Bodu Hithi is a relatively new development. Built in 2006 as a high-end haven of luxury and service, there are six excellent restaurants, a water sports center and dive school, and a gorgeous spa — not to mention pristine stretches of white sand, a coral reef teeming with marine life just off the beach, and a glass-walled infinity pool.

{“type”:”img-inline”,”src”:”/static/images/product/properties/3021/prop-44722-1341955878-full.jpg”,”width”:”275″,”caption”:”Water Villas feature a private terrace and pool, plus a split-level sundeck.”}The resort’s thatch-roofed accommodations include spacious Island Villas, which have sea-facing decks and free-standing bathtubs with unobstructed views of the Indian Ocean; Water Villas, which have private plunge pools and direct sea access; and Escape Water Villas. The latter, the most recent addition to this already luxe property, comprise a sort of resort-within-a-resort set on its own oval-shaped pier.

Escape guests have access to a whole host of VIP perks, including a 24-hour butler, free buggy service around the island and airy bathrooms with Molton Brown toiletries. A sunset cruise and daily high tea are other benefits. And then there’s the private restaurant and bar, Stars, which serves modern Maldivian cuisine and hand-crafted cocktails.

The resort’s good looks, top-notch amenities and helpful staff are complemented by its proximity to a stunning house reef (around 30 feet away). Because, after all, the real star of the show is nature. Baby blacktip reef sharks cruise the shallows, hermit and ghost crabs roam the beach, and at night the ocean sparkles in myriad silvery shades, a mesmerizing display that makes it hard indeed to leave this amazing resort, tucked away in a discreet corner of the North Malé Atoll.

Welcome to paradise
Reviewed 2 days ago

We had 9 days in Jan for our engagement vacation at this incredible resort. We upgraded to an Coco residence and it was fantastic. Maybe it is a little mature, but the service is incredible, amazing staff, the most beautiful beach and water I have ever seen (4th time at maledives @ other 5 stars resorts). Amazing excursions and fantastic staff, villas are perfect, food especially @ Aqua restaurant, great place for snorkeling we saw turtles, mantas and found Nemo and all of his friends just next at to the beach. Thanks a lot to all of the staff especially to mr margarita ( amazing cocktails), Mrs Fish wish (you have to try), the spa ( incredible) and the management. Thanks to make paradise happen for us, so personal & friendly ( take the private sunset cruise and the seasafari). We will come again!

Great Place But few things that you need to know before you book

The hotel its good, the rooms are very big and comfy, the food is good for the Maldives, the snorkelling its fantastic, the staff are very friendly . The only thing is that not the whole beach its beautiful , there is one side of the beach much nicer than the other, when you book make sure that you ask to be on the side of the beach without the sand bags, big stonewall or rocks, they will know what do you mean.
The pool its very good too. The bar staff its great but the drinks choice its poor, they had only 3 gins and 2 vodkas, only Shweppes tonic, no fevertree, fentimans or Franklin. and not clue about cocktails.
I will say its great for families we loved doing few trips with the marine biologist worth booking.
The other thing that let them down was that we arrived 10 min earlier and nobody was waiting for us, it was so so hot and then the representative come 20 min later and we waited 1hr and 40minf !! for our transfer, it's a hot grotty airport you don't want to wait when you have been travelling for 18hours and you are paying thousands of pounds for your weeks holidays, I would check about your transfers time and there are so many hotels in the Maldives to choose from its a bad start to your holidays when you have to wait in a plastic hot sweaty chair for so long.
There is a well equipped gym and a Spa, I di not try the SPA, I thought the prices were too much for the Hotel. The Japanesse restaurant its the worst, if you like japanesse food and have tried authentic or have been to Japan, don't go there as you will be disapointed, The general restaurant was great, the indian food authentic and fantastic, the fresh fruit and dessert so well presented, the chefs at the main restaurant so friendly and helpful, the seafood restaurant was good too and the restaurant by the water bungalows had a great ambience and good food.
All in all, a lovely place with some room for improvement, I doubt that you can find better size rooms if you want space and i have been four times to the Maldives, at Coco in my opinion, they had the best snorkelling.

Lovely getaway!

The hospitality that you recieve at this resort is amazing. We were taken care by Mahmoud who was knowledgeable, pleasant and got along well with my 2 boys. The resort itself is breathtakingly gorgeous. No complaints whatsoever. Food was excellent and the chef actually came out to ask us what we wanted included in the following day's menu! We took the Ocean villa which was clean spacious and had a breathtaking view. The stay was made complete by Mahmoud who ensured we were comfortable always. It was money well spent!

My objective opinion

I visited this beautiful hotel with my family in the beginning of January 2019. This was our second visit to the Maldives. Overall the hotel is very good. Let me list what I liked, and what I disliked. I liked:
1. The natural forest-like landscape of the island.
2. The water villas are amazing.
3. The wide variety of delicious food.
4. Most of the crew are very pleasant and helpful.
I was not pleased with:
1. The long distance from the airport to the hotel (50 minutes of a rather rough boat ride).
2. The land villas do not have a wide view of the beach. And very surprisingly, the beds are facing towards the island and NOT towards the amazing beach.
3. Some of my family members preferred a more well maintained landscape, as opposed to the natural look of this island. We stayed before in Kurumba hotel which has a more manicured landscape.
4. One of our rooms had a big problem with the A/C , which was not solved promptly.

Such a wonderful stay

We stayed in a beach villa which was gorgeous - our own plunge pool and a path leading to our sun beds on the beach. The island is clean, well maintained and very beautiful. would recommend sunrise yoga to start the day - it was so peaceful and so well taught.
The staff were so friendly and helpful - in the main restaurant and in the other restaurants we ate in. Such a relaxing time in the most beautiful surroundings. The Spa treatments were also great.
