What We Love
- Breakfast is included in the Jetsetter rate
- Surprising, contemporary interiors that depart from typical Maldives resort style
- A remote, untouched setting
- The resort’s colorful coral reef – swim it, snorkel it, dive it
- Unique InOcean Villas are a half-mile offshore — talk about privacy!
- The spa, with a staff trained at Banyan Tree’s spa academy
What To Know
- Not for those with a fear of small planes, as the resort is reachable only by a 40-minute seaplane flight
- The ultraremote and quiet setting isn’t for everyone
- Occasionally, a restaurant will not open if hotel occupancy is low, but there is always at least one option, plus room service
- InOcean Villas were added to the property in June 2009
- Free WiFi
- Kids Club

How to Get There
The resort is lovely! My husband and I stayed three night in the jetpool beachfront villa and two nights at the over the water.
Food - For those reviewers who complained about the food quality, I think they haven't tried the restaurant at the over the water which serves great food! The buffet on the island was themed and the staff offered us an additional menu in case we did not want to do buffet, at no extra cost.
The room in the Over the water Villa is fabulous!! Biggest Pool Villa I have seen in the Maldives so far!
Tips / Snorkeling – One of the best house reef I have experienced, I went snorkeling several times at the house reef close to the over the water villas. It was terrific, with lots of fish and coral
Staff - 100% of the staff we encountered were very patient and polite.
More Tips – Don’t miss the bird feeding with Jalil, every day, great experience! Sting ray feeding is also daily!!! And the resort is almost finished with a great nursery for guests if you are an orchid lover, must see! We love flowers and we were happy to see they are preparing a section for hydroponics too. Resort is very conscious of the use of plastic, we talked to management and confirms they should be able to be 95% to 100% plastic free by end of year, love the enthusiasm! Nice chatting with Mourad (GM). He even said his team was working on a Robinson Cruso Castaway island close to the In Ocean Villas, we cannot wait to comeback to experience, want to feel like Tom hanks, lost in an island with very limited services.
No joke, I am very happy with my stay in Angsana Velavaru and would definitely recommend it to all my friends.
Have to say this is the best resort i have visited so far! Husband and I spend our honeymoon at Angsana Velavaru 2 years ago and we finally have the opportunity to bring whole family over. The sunrise/sunset view from Villa is stunning, great place for snorkeling, food is delicious, staff were extremely friendly and approachable, easy and affordable transfer through domestic air and speedboat, whole family enjoyed every bit of the trip! The General Manager Mr Mourad is professional, helpful and super friendly, he was there to receive and send off guests with a team of staff and checks on guest experience frequently, feel so appreciated and valued, will definitely be back again!
We split our stay between the beach villas and over water villas.
The beach villas though small are comfortable with outdoor/semi outdoor bathrooms which were great fun for our 6 year old. The ones that are slightly set back have a larger garden area which was nice for the child too. The beach and water were beautiful. The buffet meals were interesting and tasty - there was no kids menu but always an option available that would suit a kids palate.
The over water villas were stunning. The house reef was near enough for the child to swim to with us. It is amazing. The food is all a la Carte and tasty but Mediterranean - would be great to have a Maldivian option or just a fish of the day option too.
There is a kids menu of the usuals pizza/fingers/fries but all was tasty and good quality.
We had the all inclusive food package which was good for us and nice to be able to enjoy interesting drinks and cocktails. Some things were not included though such as fresh coconuts which we were happy to pay for.
The bar and restaurant staff are lovely - especially in the main island bar and the in ocean restaurant and bar. We had a problem one night with slow service (due to everyone choosing to dine in the in ocean villa venue) and they apologised and service was stunning the rest of the time.
As the resort is small there are fewer facilities than other resort but a small kids club and lovely spa plus marine centre are all you need to relax. We didn’t need bells and whistles. A comfortable room, clean, lovely food and stunning setting with friendly staff plus the reef which is just amazing to snorkel around. A recipe for a great holiday.
The seaplanes coming and going may annoy some - we loved watching them
You can see a local island and sometimes hear call to prayer etc which may disturb some searching for total isolation. We didn’t mind as it was nice to think how resort can coexist with the local population so close by.
It is really a dream island. We visited this island the 7th time. I think this needs no more words!
Perhaps that: We booked always 3 or 4 weeks and it was always to short, therefor it needs to come back!
This was our first time at Maledives. We can only recommend this absolutely memorable resort. We have AI package at jaccuzzi beach Villa .
People here were always smiling and happy to help you with each request.
Food was excelent, every night was different event, so there was variety of cuisune e.g. BBQ, Maledivian, Thai, etc.
Also variety of water sports and snorkeling activities.
I cannot forget to mention bar with variety of really excellent alcoholic and Non alcoholic coctails.
Beach and villas were clean, the ocean has all colors of blue and turquise, with white sand.
This was really amazing and unforgettable holiday for us.
Last ,but not least, the staff prepared absolutely wonderful B-day surprise for me, it was amazing and I spent really great time celebrating my B-day at this peacefull and wonderful resort. Those memories will take special place in my mind.
Great place for relaxing and peaceful holiday.
