What We Love

  • Breakfast is included in the Jetsetter rate
  • Surprising, contemporary interiors that depart from typical Maldives resort style
  • A remote, untouched setting
  • The resort’s colorful coral reef – swim it, snorkel it, dive it
  • Unique InOcean Villas are a half-mile offshore — talk about privacy!
  • The spa, with a staff trained at Banyan Tree’s spa academy

What To Know

  • Not for those with a fear of small planes, as the resort is reachable only by a 40-minute seaplane flight
  • The ultraremote and quiet setting isn’t for everyone
  • Occasionally, a restaurant will not open if hotel occupancy is low, but there is always at least one option, plus room service
  • InOcean Villas were added to the property in June 2009

Missing the wow factor

We stayed at the Angsana for 2 nights (over New years) with our 2 teenage boys in a Beachfront pool villa (We booked at the Angsana for 2 nights and another Maldives resort for 5 nights).
We can't quite place our finger on it but we were not wow'd by this resort. The plane arrived at the dock (it lands a few 100 meters from he resort and then a boat comes and takes you to the resort). We were left on the dock with the rest of the guests for at least 10 minutes before a boat came. When we arrived at the island we did not have any greeting at the dock. We did get a cold cloth and an ice cream at reception but beyond that it was very "business like".
The villa was good except the pool was very cold (our boys love swimming and they didn't use it) and we found it was odd that the toilet was outside (and didn't have a door on it) so anyone from our family could walk by and see you using the toilet or shower.
The buffet was satisfactory with a decent variety and selections (desert was probably the best part).
We did snorkel out by the reef but did not see anything other than some very colourful fish.
The marine centre was probably the best part and seeing the rays/reef sharks come up the shore every evening was pretty neat.
Again, this resort was good but we have stayed at some fantastic resorts in thailand, Costa Rica, French Polynesia and other locations so this was just okay and I guess for the money we spent for the 2 nights we just expected so much more.

Truly Magical Place

Stayed at Angsana for a week and what a magical week that was.
Even though it took around 20hrs to reach there, all the stress vanished on our first step there.
We went on an all inclusive basis and it was worth every penny ! Where can you get all branded alcohols included in all inclusive package !!
Stayed at Beach Villa with a jet pool, though, in my opinion, don't choose this option as the white soft sand beach is 100 yards away.
Service and quality and choice of food was excellent.
Service at every where was excellent.
Can't wait to go there again !

We had 5 great nights at Angsana. We loved it!! Saw dolphines from our watervilla, rays and turtles and lots of fish. Great snorkeling and great staff and food. We have only good things to say about our stay!
