Overview

Contemporary, swank hotel with spacious rooms, a spa and nightclub with karaoke

The Lowdown

Sprouting from a Roman temple base, the 296-room, 37-suite Ritz-Carlton Jakarta, Mega Kuningan has an all-glass edifice and houses some of the city’s largest standard guestrooms (at almost 700 square-feet). All guestrooms are decked out with modern musts such as 55-inch TVs, white marble bathrooms, terry robes and 12-foot floor-to-ceiling windows and feature earth-tone décor punctuated by pops of foggy blue and patterned green-gold carpeting. Elsewhere, there’s an Olympic-size pool, 19-room spa, fitness center and children’s program. When hunger strikes, head to Lobo, which combines Prime Steakhouse and Portovenere into one lobby dining spot. And after, get the night underway at TEMPUS club for salsa dancing or karaoke.

In the Area

Jakarta radiates out from Merdeka Square and its climbable gold-tipped Monas (National Monument) is an excellent place to start getting a grip on this frenetic, fantastic city, which is also Southeast Asia’s most populous. Nearby, the massive Istiqlal Mosque and Catholic Gereja Katedral are must-stop attractions, but you can also discover the archipelago’s storied history at the Museum Nasional, and embrace its economic powerhouse present at the Grand Indonesia Shopping Town in South Jakarta’s Golden Triangle (Setiabudi) gov/biz hub.

Wonderful trip but slightly too much customer servixe

I can’t fault my experience, the room, facilities, food etc was all great. However, the staff was slightly too attentive and it was sometimes uncomfortable. Their training is great but reading body language and not being overbearing (particularly when the hotel is quiet) is important too.

A short stay but comfortable stay

Excellent services and care from the staff. Good food at the Asia resto and Lobo resto. Nice and comfortable room.Good location to visit the rest of Jakarta. Good lounge with a good variety of food and drinks. Gym and SPA area compete and attractive.

Not children friendly during the week
CheerChick2003

If you normally enjoy the perks of Lounge access and you are traveling with your child do not stay here. They have provided a childs room in the lounge area but you may only enjoy it with your children on the weekend. Marriott's let you take tour children to the lounge all week. I know I can't be the only parent that finds this unfortunate but appearently having children is a great inconvenience to the Ritz during the week.
