Overview

Intimate, 18-villa Balinese lair with private pools a short walk from the beach

The Lowdown

Designed as a collection of modern Balinese homes with stark white walls and mod dark wood furniture, the Kunja Hotel’s 18 one- and three-bedroom villas allow for minimal fuss and maximum privacy. Although there’s no restaurant on the grounds, every villa is equipped with a full kitchen (and you can also order room service from nearby eateries), as well as a private swimming pool. Bedrooms are air-conditioned with king-size beds draped in gauzy curtains, and expansive bathrooms have pebble floors, a separate shower and tub, washbasin sinks and kimono bathrobes. Open-air rotunda lounges have high ceilings and double as dining areas that are full of indoor/outdoor charm. And if you’re here to tie the knot, the hotel’s glass Santi Chapel with Balinese water terraces might just fit the bill.

In the Area

Party central for Bali’s bikini-clad jetset, “The Yak” is the island’s stylish center of luxury spas, sophisticated nightlife, foodie restaurants, and unique shopping — and, of course, high prices and traffic snarls, so rent a bike or moto to get around. Jalan Laksmana’s legion of indie boutiques is a good place to kit up for nights out at Ku de Ta and the W Retreat’s WOOBAR. If you need a little culture, TAKSU curates killer contemporary art and pretty Petitenget Temple is right off the beach, or just browse antiques on Jalan Kerobokan (near Seminyak Road).

Great property
Reviewed 3 days ago

Pros:
Super AwesomeVilla 😍 - never have I seen such a beautiful property
Breakfast
Room service
Hospitality
Courteous staff

Cons:
Security around villa - my phone got snatched just outside villa around 11 PM in the night. I had to wait to morning to get complaint filled in. Staff was without doubt very helpful in filing of the report.
First aid kit - they should have some basic ointments in their kit in case of swollen wounds etc..
Spa - it was good but can improve.

Total Bliss

This was our second stay at Kunja and once again we were not disappointed. Everything from the villas to the dedicated staff was amazing. Can’t wait to come back
Brilliant Brilliant Brilliant
Despite being in a fairly busy road you would never know because it’s so quiet and peaceful. Great place to simply relax.
The cooked breakfast and afternoon teas are so so yummy 😊😊😊😊

Simply Superb

This was our 2nd stay at Kunja Villas & Spa. Cannot rate the Villas and Staff highly enough. Nothing is too much trouble and any concern you may have is dealt with quickly. They value your privacy, breakfasts of your choosing are cooked in villa at your nominated time. The afternoon teas are just lovely and a wee taste of luxury. Pools are sparkling, villas beautifully clean. The massage and facials we had at the spa were wonderful. I prefer that to in villa which we had before but mainly because being in the air conditioning was more comfortable. I loved the buggy rides to Seminyak Village when it was too hot to walk, never an issue getting a lift. We ordered dinner in one night from the in house restaurant options and it was not only delivered but a staff member served it and laid the table. Cannot thank Reza, Bema, Citta and all the beautiful staff enough. We loved our stay and will return, hopefully not too far away.

There is a reason it is # 1

This was our fifth stay at Kunja after a gap of about two years while we went and did some other things away from Bali. We have been lucky enough to stay in other locations and styles of accomodation in Bali. After years of experimenting we reckon KUNJA is the best place to stay. The villas are large an spacious and the grounds immaculate. Yep there are heaps of choices of where to stay, plenty are cheaper and some more expensive, but Kunja is a refined elegance and an experience that should be enjoyed.

Kunja is the only place we have stayed where they ask your time preference for your room to be made up. What would you like and when would you like your breakfast? The place is immaculate and spotless. I would happily and without question eat Off the floor, it is that clean. The spa, like the accomodation is excellent.

There are plenty of glowing references, and they all speak to Kunja's elegance and quiet efficiency. There is a reason it is the #1 place to stay in Seminyak, all the reviews tell why, however it's the things that are not obvious that happen in the background without the guests knowing that contribute to its excellence. Having stayed many times the service and standard of care of the property and the guests is remarkable.

To Mr Reza, and the front and back of house staff, thank you for again making our stay memorable for all the right reasons.

Magnificence Redux

This was my fourth stay in as many years at the Kunja Villas and I have to say that everything I wrote in my earlier reviews remains the same. The place is, in a word, magnificent and well deserves its top rating on TripAdvisor. The individual villas each with its own private pool are beautiful, the breakfasts that are cooked at a time you choose in the kitchen in your villa by your own personal chef are incredible, and the cleanliness and maintenance of your villa by the service staff are at an extremely high standard. But what also sets out the Kunja Villas is the friendliness of all the staff who, after a day or two, know your name and are willing to provide any help you want. They will make recommendations and shuttle you to restaurants or shopping in Seminyak and they provide free shuttle service to and from the airport. All with a friendly smile and greeting. As I said before, the Kunja Villas are superb. Why stay anywhere else?
