Overview

Intimate, 18-villa Balinese lair with private pools a short walk from the beach

The Lowdown

Designed as a collection of modern Balinese homes with stark white walls and mod dark wood furniture, the Kunja Hotel’s 18 one- and three-bedroom villas allow for minimal fuss and maximum privacy. Although there’s no restaurant on the grounds, every villa is equipped with a full kitchen (and you can also order room service from nearby eateries), as well as a private swimming pool. Bedrooms are air-conditioned with king-size beds draped in gauzy curtains, and expansive bathrooms have pebble floors, a separate shower and tub, washbasin sinks and kimono bathrobes. Open-air rotunda lounges have high ceilings and double as dining areas that are full of indoor/outdoor charm. And if you’re here to tie the knot, the hotel’s glass Santi Chapel with Balinese water terraces might just fit the bill.

In the Area

Party central for Bali’s bikini-clad jetset, “The Yak” is the island’s stylish center of luxury spas, sophisticated nightlife, foodie restaurants, and unique shopping — and, of course, high prices and traffic snarls, so rent a bike or moto to get around. Jalan Laksmana’s legion of indie boutiques is a good place to kit up for nights out at Ku de Ta and the W Retreat’s WOOBAR. If you need a little culture, TAKSU curates killer contemporary art and pretty Petitenget Temple is right off the beach, or just browse antiques on Jalan Kerobokan (near Seminyak Road).

Kunja Magic!
Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Only been to Bali twice, first time 4 years ago when we stayed at the W Hotel. This was always going to be hard to beat, but dollar for dollar the Kunja was far superior! Sure you don’t get the sunsets, the restaurants or the pool, but you get a bigger villa and brilliant service at 1/3 the price! The staff also just wait for you to call for absolutely anything, they get your groceries, drop and pick up anywhere in Seminyak at a moments notice and cook you brekky in the villa daily! Superb!!!

‘A perfect private holiday getaway. In the villa, you are in your own paradise.’

➖ Nothing to complain whatsoever.

➕ When I made my booking, I asked for shuttle service to the villa. We were greeted by a friendly staff at the airport who drove us to the villa. It was a very comfortable ride with drinks and cold towels. When we reached the Kunja Villas, we were taken straight to ours, without needing to check in at the front desk as per norm. We were showed around by the staff, and all the check-in procedures were brought to us. When that was done, afternoon tea was ordered. The Kunja Villas do not have their own in-house restaurant but they collaborate with a few nearby diners and restaurants. We just need to call and the food will arrive within 30 minutes. Breakfast is a joy, when we have someone come to our villa to cook for us whatever that we want and served them deliciously hot. We enjoyed swimming leisurely in the privacy of our own pool anytime of the day. When we wanted to have a spa session, the spa was brought to us. At night, the bed was turned down for us. We were also chauffeur driven at no charge at all to surrounding areas in Seminyak. Everything was perfect. An awesome honeymoon getaway that anybody could ever wished for.

Perfection!

Booked this very short term, as the accommodation that I had initially chosen informed me that they were having construction work ongoing.

Anyway, I am happy that this happened, so that I could enjoy a stay at Kunja.

Everything is perfect here, the Villas are absolutely beautiful, being it for the bedroom, the outdoor lounge area or the bathroom. It's almost impossible to capture the awe on a picture.

A word for the staff: Always super friendly, smiling, highly professional, excellently trained, absolute first class.

This property deserves to be TripAdvisor Number 1 in Seminyak.

One of a kind, private villa experience!

We drove right up to the villa and checked in there as well. They delivered food to us, picked us up right at the door and chauffeured us anywhere we wanted to go. Any and every request we wanted fulfilled was just a phone call away. The property was very new and clean, the only things I didn’t care for were no grounds or places to walk around within the hotel, and the bathroom was half outdoor and didn’t have air conditioning. Everything else was up to the most excellent standards and vip treatment. I adored my flower bath as well!

We just had our breakfast in our villa so far we can not fault this place . Having a driver available is awesome.
