Overview

Intimate, 18-villa Balinese lair with private pools a short walk from the beach

The Lowdown

Designed as a collection of modern Balinese homes with stark white walls and mod dark wood furniture, the Kunja Hotel’s 18 one- and three-bedroom villas allow for minimal fuss and maximum privacy. Although there’s no restaurant on the grounds, every villa is equipped with a full kitchen (and you can also order room service from nearby eateries), as well as a private swimming pool. Bedrooms are air-conditioned with king-size beds draped in gauzy curtains, and expansive bathrooms have pebble floors, a separate shower and tub, washbasin sinks and kimono bathrobes. Open-air rotunda lounges have high ceilings and double as dining areas that are full of indoor/outdoor charm. And if you’re here to tie the knot, the hotel’s glass Santi Chapel with Balinese water terraces might just fit the bill.

In the Area

Party central for Bali’s bikini-clad jetset, “The Yak” is the island’s stylish center of luxury spas, sophisticated nightlife, foodie restaurants, and unique shopping — and, of course, high prices and traffic snarls, so rent a bike or moto to get around. Jalan Laksmana’s legion of indie boutiques is a good place to kit up for nights out at Ku de Ta and the W Retreat’s WOOBAR. If you need a little culture, TAKSU curates killer contemporary art and pretty Petitenget Temple is right off the beach, or just browse antiques on Jalan Kerobokan (near Seminyak Road).

Awesome stay! Highly recommend

This was my first stay here and I chose it based on the reviews. The reviews were spot on. Excellent stay - clean and well maintained villas and excellent customer service. They provide complementary pick up and drop within the surrounding area - which was very helpful. They go above and beyond to make your stay comfortable and I am sure I will stay here again when visiting Bali next. Fresh breakfast made and served in the villa. We were out for lunch and dinner but they provide delivery options in-house as well. Great pool with lounge chairs - great way to spend the mornings. Loved everything about the stay!

Still the best stay in Bali

Just spent another week at The Kunja - my 4th or 5th visit I think. Delighted to say that they have maintained their high standard since my previous stays. I love being in a private villa with my own pool, with breakfast and afternoon tea a bonus. Afternoon tea particularly has improved hugely with very enticing pastries/cakes served each day. The staff are super friendly and helpful, the villas are clean and the pool sparkling. Would recommend it any day as a great place to stay. Make sure to use some of their day trips - the private driver and escort to the best places to see is a big plus if you don't like joining public tours.

Amazing villa stay

This will be our 2nd stay in Kunja Villas. We stayed at Villa 09 from 9th till 12th June 2019. We celebrated our 1st wedding anniversary at the villa. Previously a year ago we stayed for our honeymoon.

We had a airport transfer service from Kunja to pick us up at the airport. We were so delighted to see Agung, our driver to the villa. (He remembered us from our previous honeymoon trip!)

Check in was a breeze. Agung have dropped us off at the villa and gave us cold towels to cool ourselves down will the process of checking in being done for us. They kindly arranged for wine and anniversary cake to be served in our room. Which was nice and heart warming to receive after our flight. Which we really appreciated.

The Villas are at a private compound, very safe and serene. There were 1/3 bedroom villas with their own individual private pools.

The villas are situated at a quiet side of Seminyak but not far from the local scene. Extremely accessible and even provides complimentary drop offs at Seminyak area.

Breakfast are being prepared and cooked daily in your villa. Delicious food with asian/western/indonesian meals to choose from. It really makes us feel like home.

Beds were comfortable, room and toilet are very very clean.

A very well maintained place and a Must if you were to stay in Seminyak. The Kunja never disappoints.

Thank you to all the Staff, General Manager and Shout out to Agung!! for being so amazing and arranging all of this for us on our very special day.

We will definitely come back when we are in Seminyak. Thank you for the excellent stay and hospitality.

There is no words but should be given 5 stars for everything!!

This is our 3rd time we have stayed here and it never disappoints.
Staff are fantastic, villa is brilliant. Nothing is ever too much of a problem.
Plus, the Coffee Cartel next door was an added bonus with great coffee.

Worth writing home about

Every time we visit Bali, we make sure to spend a few nights at the Kunja in Seminyak. The Kunja is a boutique villa park, in the heart of Seminyak (pretty busy but very trendy part of Bali). There are just 18 villa’s and we love how small the resort is. It makes you fee very special. The villas itself are incredible, very spacious and well occupied. A great pool, very comfy lounge area, a kitchen and a private bathroom with every bedroom. We had a 3 bedroom villa and had 3 bath tubes, that’s goals, right? Mostly we travel with the three of us (we bring out photographer everywhere), and now it was fun to be with a bigger group, especially when you have a lounge area where you all can have breakfast together and watch Netflix when you don’t feel like going out. It was just perfect to spend time with our friends, and also knowing that you have some privacy, having a huge bedroom for yourself. It was just super relaxing.
Breakfast is always our fave moment of the day when we are at The Kunja. As you might have seen on our stories, we had a private butler during our stay, who came in every morning and prepared the breakfast for everyone, and ours was the kindest man on the island. So we were happy to see him every morning again.
We always have a great time at the Kunja and every time we check out we think, this was way too short, next time we need at least one extra night.
When you guys are heading to Bali soon, you should definitely check out The Kunja Villa’s.
