Overview

Hip, villa-style hideaway with modern design and private plunge pools near Seminyak’s beach

The Lowdown

Comprised of 24 thatched roof villas, the architecture of the Kayana Bali is airy and angular, with a crisp, modern approach to décor thanks to stone floors, wood-trimmed walls of windows, dramatically lit soaking tubs and pinstripes in place of batik. All accommodations come with 24-hour butler service and mod cons such as loaded iPods, plasma TVs and WiFi. Heated private plunge pools are set in well-manicured gardens with minimalist arrangements of stone and bamboo. Drink and dine poolside at Duah on Western or Asian dishes, or arrange for romantic in-villa experiences after a treatment in Ayur Spa.

In the Area

Party central for Bali’s bikini-clad jetset, “The Yak” is the island’s stylish center of luxury spas, sophisticated nightlife, foodie restaurants, and unique shopping — and, of course, high prices and traffic snarls, so rent a bike or moto to get around. Jalan Laksmana’s legion of indie boutiques is a good place to kit up for nights out at Ku de Ta and the W Retreat’s WOOBAR. If you need a little culture, TAKSU curates killer contemporary art and pretty Petitenget Temple is right off the beach, or just browse antiques on Jalan Kerobokan (near Seminyak Road).

We feel either these last few reviews were by folks that never travel far or a very easlily pleased.
Chose this place as the reviews were very positive. Yes I can say the place is set in lovely gardens. The main pool is very nice, although I’m not one that likes a pool that’s overlooked by the restaurant patrons. The staff are lovely as most Balinese people. The Spa is very good, massages are excellent.
We felt the one bedroom pool villa was okay. The furniture very uncomfortable, bed hard (but find that a lot in Bali) but no top sheet so you needed the doona which was very heavy and warm, this made us have to use the air conditioner on very cool to cope. Out door furniture okay but very tightly spaced and no so comfortable. The food looked good in the photos but not that great...we love Indonesian food but felt this was just average. Quantities more suited to Chinese travellers not Aussies. In summary, if you are a shopper its a great location. If you’ve got years on your back its a little dangerous with lots of steps without good handrails. I may sound a little snooty but i do feel some reviews here may give travellers unreal expectations. I love to drink a lot of water and felt 4 x 300mil in your room were lacking. The fruit basket offered in your room is crappy...2 x oranges 2 x mandarins and a snake fruit thing that was off. I would honestly rate this place as average good but definitely not Amazing. We’ve had some amazing stays in Bali, Lembongan and Ceningan so feel qualified to make this statement.

Amazing stay

We stayed at Kayana Villas on our first trip to Bali. From the moment we were picked up at the airport we knew the service was going to be exemplary. We found the Kayana staff to be so welcoming, professional and they made our experience all the better.

The reception area is an environment that is very calming which sets you on your journey of relaxation. Our villa was 5 star, the ability to spend time in a relaxing environment was just what we needed. The bed was very comfortable, free bottled water, a mix of drinks in the mini bar and the bathroom with rain shower was delightful.

Outside the comfortable day bed, two sun lounges and a 7m pool was also a delight.
We chose the package that allowed us a breakfast and either a lunch or dinner with cocktails. The food was very well presented and tasted as good as restaurants we have dined in all over the world. The staff were exceptional, very polite and nothing was too hard. They are a credit to the company and I give them 10/10.

The location is set amongst great restaurants and bars. Aya Street is a must.

Thank you again for making our first trip to Bali the first of many. Yes we will return

Amazing

This was by far one of the best resort spas I’ve ever stayed at. The villas were spectacular and private. The staff was absolutely amazing! It has enough amenities to keep you comfortable but not over crowded or over priced like the large hotel chains. The location is amazing and easy to access all parts of Seminyak. The spa is amazing and the in room breakfast was so relaxing. I highly recommend this place if your looking for an amazing, safe, clean and wonderful staff and customer focused environment. It doesn’t disappoint.

Slice of Heaven!

The Kayana truly is the whole package and defines perfection in every area of service and experience. From the staff who go above and beyond to make your stay as comfortable and perfect as possible, to the facilities and villas, I cannot fault any element of The Kayana. Waking up to a floating breakfast was a special highlight that I’ve never experienced before and indulging in a massage at their spa made for the ultimate relaxation experience.
For travelers who enjoy keeping fit whilst away the gym is quaint and has all fitness areas covered (I ran each morning on the treadmill). The location couldn’t be better with the ability to walk to both Seminyak square and north areas like La Laguna comfortably.
All in all I can’t express my gratefulness for The Kayana and their staff for exceeding all expectations and providing a truly heavenly experience for our time in Bali.
10/10 rating in all areas from me.

Private Villa

Positives -
Nice spacious villa with pool
My daughter had the plunge pool villa and we had the 6 mtr pool
Really not much difference for the cost so I’d recommend the plunge pool
Pool is 1.2 deep
Bottled water is provided
Staff are gorgeous
Clean with accessories, even mouth gargle, nail files etc, nice
Massage on site
Free shuttle around Seminyak was handy (but the traffic is impossible)

Negatives
In the pool there is a step but I’m short and It was hard getting in and out of the pool

The road to W hotel is beside the Villas and it is noisy all day and all night
Ask for a room on the quiet side

The decking around the pool needs maintenance, very rough in areas

Wi fi is available but drops out continuously

Nice restaurants around but the walk on the ‘ footpaths’ is difficult, even the motorbikes get up on the footpaths, so be alert

Take only the blue bird cabs and even then they rip you off
Some meters race and therefore overcharge and always check your change from cabs it will be wrong
