A trip to Surakata – also knows as Solo – practically guarantees a culture-rich experience. Though small, it’s one of Indonesia’s epicenters of Javanese tradition, perfect for immersing yourself in a new culture.
Novotel Solo sits in the historic heart of the city, surrounded by colorful markets, majestic palaces and other attractions unique to the area. You can embark on day trips to see waterfalls and other treasures of the tropical countryside, or stay close by to watch traditional performances or shop for batik (with the Batik Museum just next door, you can get an up-close look at the process for creating this traditional style of printing on fabric).
But no adventure is complete without a luxurious base to return to each night. With its spacious rooms, spa and various facilities, the four-star Novotel is just the place to be. Indulge in afternoons by the pool, spa days, or simply call in some room service. You’ll be rested and ready to head out to explore more of Solo in no time.

for those who want a vacation to solo should try novotel solo located on the slamet riyadi solo road.

Decades ago, Novotel Solo was one of the best address in Solo, when the choices of hotels were limited. Is is still a quite reputable hotel today despite the heavy competition, but it is showing its age. Despite that, it is has a charming atmosphere with modern Javanese styled decoration. Location-wise it is quite in the city center near to Sriwedari and Mangkunegaran palace.
The beds are large and comfortable, esp. the rooms with twin beds. The showers are showing its age despite have been renovated. Still, another renovation might be due as some parts are not in best condition anymore. Towels, while clean, are yellowish.
Service on the other hand is excellent with typical Javanese friendliness.
