How to Get There
Better late than never with my review....I previously traveled to Bali in May2018 and enjoyed it so much that I traveled again in Sept2018. This is not around the corner for me as I come from Canada so I must have enjoyed it so much as to travel again within a year. . With my over 30 years of customer facing experience I have to say that The Stones was one of the best experiences I had. We have traveled to Mexico, Manila, Hong Kong, Toronto, Bali x2, Bangkok, Vietnam and Phuket so have stayed and experienced many hotels this past year When we arrived my wife noted that the room did not have enough storage for clothing. With that she went down to the front desk and spoke to Dewi. Dewi was so pleasant and gracious however indicated she was limited in what she could do for a few days (which we had no problem with). A few days later after the conference being held there let out, she called us to indicate that she could move us to another room. The next room was superb and provided what we needed and she continued to check with us throughout the stay to make sure things were fine. The pool was great as you could see from the photos and dining room was fantastic. We enjoyed the meals and staff there so much that we ate half of our meals there. Speaking of the restaurant. It is truly the gathering place and with its proximity to the pool we were always greeted with a welcoming smile and the hospitality of the staff there. There were more staff than I can remember however I would like to send out a shout out to Ayuuuuuuu (joke) however everytime I saw I could not resist, X-Surfer Remy, Mr. Congeniality Odon, The pleasant and welcoming Pudra, Chef Fahmy (When he heard my wife comment that she loved Indonesian dessert products he went out of the way to ensure that she had some of the delights his kitchen could serve up as all these were not necessarily on the menu) - What service!!! Chef also included a small box of goods for her to take on the plane :), we also had a great conversation with Hera and who cannot forget "Mr. Bali United" Harta who we may adopt as our Indonesian son lol. Fantastic service, amenities, room Stones Hotel!
The front desk staff is most helpful, and professional. Siri and Pio were particularly impactful in making us feel welcome, and proved extremely personable throughout our stay. On our last day, Jordan at concierge also stood out as an example of great service. If we were rating the front desk alone this hotel would receive a 5 out of 5 every time.
The hotel itself however left much to be desired. The hallways are somewhat dark and dated and the guest rooms were dingy and uninviting. To start with, the room opens into the bathroom, with the toilet and shower clearly visible from the hall. A large tattered curtain separates this bathroom foyer from the bedroom area, and the windows do not open at all, leaving us with the strong smell of pinesol and Clorox. The shower water is heavily chlorinated, and spots of food on the walls and visible rust on the faulty bathroom hardware gave the impression of poor cleaning. To that note, the housekeepers, who are very friendly, clean the rooms barefoot. We do understand that western expectations can not be applied, but from a purely practical health and cleanliness point of view, this raises some red flags.
The appetizers from room service were adequate and served generously, and the pool area is on point. Live entertainment and table service are quite nice, and the location is about as good as you can hope for; footsteps from the beach and walking distance to the local shopping, restaurants and watering holes.
We love Bali but for the price we have been to much more desirable properties. Thank you for the warm hospitality that you have shown us.
Girls relaxing trip. Twin room ideal, everything required in room was there. Comfortable beds. The hotel made our stay very special. Certainly one of many memories. Lift super quick and readily available even in busy times it would appear. Staff well second to none, unbeleivalely friendly, nothing was too much trouble. Fresh bottled water daily. Extra bedding, toiletries, coffee, milk, and towels etc offered nightly by staff by a visit to your room. Pool area dreamy, sun beds so comfy, fresh towels by pool, pool bar area clean and drinks and food yummy. Breakfast was delicious so much choice, if special diet required no problem, freshly cooked. Beautiful hotel, beautiful people in essence beautiful Bali ! We will be back. There is nothing not to like about this place xxx
The hotel was beautiful. Food was fantastic. We did have some issues with the room location close to the reception area it was very loud at night we could hear everyone outside the windows.
Staff were very friendly especially the pool attendants they made our stay very enjoyable. The hotel was very close to everything which is what we wanted. Would recommend for couples or adults not alot for kids to do.
This place is top shelf. Staff are friendly and attentive. Location is good being close to Legian and Kuta. Will stay again. Parking is also quite convenient. Security is also reassuring. Definitely worth a look.
