Private villas and intimate service, the last word in luxury on Bali’s tranquil shore

The Lowdown

One of Bali’s most famous resorts applies the “It Takes a Village” ethos to its luxury offerings, both literally (147 stone-wall-enclosed private, thatched-roof villas spread over 35 acres on the bluffs of Jimbaran Bay) and figuratively (detail-oriented focus on sublime service). Alleyways and flower-filled nooks wind down the terraced grounds, which hold an open-air spa, fitness center, and five restaurants and lounges. The newest, Sundara, serves cocktails and international cuisine next to a beachfront infinity pool well into the night. But with plunge pools, soaking tubs, outdoor showers and separate marble-floored bales outfitted in teak and batik, leaving the villas may as well be optional.

In the Area

Twenty minutes south of the airport, Jimbaran Bay is known for three things: expensive resorts (developers call it the “Beverly Hills of Bali”), its beach (all fine white sand and calm water) and the 50-odd fire-grilled seafood restaurants that line it, offering a no-pretense, quintessential way to take in the spectacular sunsets. On-property activities include tennis and an armada of watersports (catamarans, canoes, windsurfers) with guided excursions for snorkeling or temple treks. A Balinese Cooking School attracts even non-guests, offering half-day classes with optional market visits — plus kids’ pastry programs — in a custom-built, tricked-out kitchen.

Unforgettable memory staying at Four Season Jimbaran. Top notch spa experience, wonderful breakfast, afternoon tea at Taman Wantilan and Sundara’s dinner. Kids really like the private and kids pool also kids club. 24 hours buggy service is a treat especially for soccer fans who wants to watch world cup at Sundara.

From beginning to end this stay was a dream come true. Staff without exception were most accommodating and all are made to feel special. Resort consists of individual villas which are beautifully furnished and laid out. My holiday visit was with my daughter and we had everything you could hope or wish for. Our twin beds were comfortable and draped in calico curtains. The pillows were so plump and all bedware was white. Ample wardrobe space, cupboards and drawers, a safe, space for cases. Basin each in air conditioned bathroom and an outside shower as well as inside one. Huge roll top bath, huge towels and light texture robes. Rooms were checked and changed twice daily. Buggies were available to travel from villa to beach/ restaurants/ shops, Coffee machine and tea making facilities plus fridge with well stacked bar. Outside was a dip pool within a beautifully small garden, outside dinning and seating area plus two sun loungers and parasol. Thought I had died and gone to heaven. Staff were just so amazing everywhere we went. Breakfast was buffet style and catered for absolutely every pallete and nationality. Separate room for fresh fruit starters, breads and bakery, dairy products and a staff member on hand to make pancakes all morning.
An array of fresh juices to choose from.
Absolutely everywhere was spotless and beautifully designed including the garden areas. We had a 90 minute massage in a cabana overlooking the sea with the sound of a nearby waterfall.
Many weddings took place in the week we were visiting. A perfect venue for whatever the occasion and celebrities could easily feel relaxed in this little piece of paradise. There was live music in the outside bar/restaurant, comfy seating and tapas style dishes to enjoy. You must try the coconut and lime salad which is prepared in front of you - so simple but so delicious. They even printed out the recipe for us. The beach area is never crowded but comes to life just before sunset at around 5.30 and is athrong with families, dog walkers, joggers and the likes.
A friend passed on the number for a taxi driver who took us on a full day tour for about £50. His car was very comfortable and air conditioned. Happy to put anyone in touch!
Four Seasons have a fantastic reputation but this is one resort you must visit. We did visit the other resort about an hour away which was more jungle style setting but both are highly recommended.

Exceptional Property, Exceptional Staff

Four Seasons Jimbaran is an exceptional property. Atmosphere, suites, staff, dining, activities, all superior. The concierge arranged a wonderful snorkeling excursion with Rocky Bali Tours. - Higly recommend! Rocky and his crew were professional, fun, and brought us to exquisite beaches and bays. Tropic Surf, affiliated with the Four Seasons Jimbaran, was exceptional in providing my family with excellent surf excursions. - Thank you, Blake!
And thank you Mary. You personalized our stay and made my family feel welcomed. You have a wonderful staff that is so warm and quick to smile. We so appreciate the kindness shown us during our stay.

Oasis in Bali
Reviewed 4 days ago

I stayed at the resort for 4 nights for a wedding in June. The hotel is on a massive piece of property. Fortunately I was in a villa that was walkable distance to the main reception / breakfast area.

The plus points of the resort are numerous.
1. the service is impeccable. Dial 1 and the staff respond straight away with what you need. The staff are always smiling but talk to you in a very friendly manner.
2. the villa itself with it's own little yard, plunge pool and cabana is an oasis where you can just relax with not a worry in the world
3. the morning breakfast buffet is one of the best I have been to. It even has it's own refrigerated bread room

Negative points
The only negative point is that certain areas of the villa is getting a bit tired Mainly in the bathroom area where you can see the sinks / bathroom needs some refresh.

It was my first time in Bali and I would come back to the 4 Seasons again.
