How to Get There
Our 3rd visit in 5 years did not disappoint. From the welcome cocktail and cold cloths on arrival, to the goody bag at departure everything was perfect. The welcome back tees, cheese, fruit and crackers in the room, personal note and Aruba soap were such welcoming gestures. Everyone super friendly and really seem to enjoy their jobs. The young man who set up our beach chairs was very attentive, and remembered our preferred spot. The beach service was spot on. Room very clean, and Josephine did an amazing job. Balcony a little tight, but we spent very little time there. We frequented Ike’s and Pega Pega, and enjoyed both without one complaint. Also, did a couples massage which was super. The resort offers a pleasant, laid back experience. I highly recommend this resort, and wouldn’t stay anywhere else in Aruba. My only suggestion would be to update the in room coffeemakers- although it wasn’t a problem once we discovered the complimentary coffee at Ike’s . My husband said it would be great to have a scale to weigh luggage before departure, since we were over the 50lb limit, and had to pay an additional $200.00. Oops,I bought too much Aruba aloe.Thank you for a wonderful experience.
The resort is in a quieter area away from the high rises and shopping. Sure, there are newer resorts on the island, but these facilities are very well maintained and offered all we wanted. There were few families with kids, which to our tastes, was profoundly welcome. We wanted a calm tropical paradise and this was it. The staff were extraordinary and we wanted for nothing. Not surprisingly, many guests were repeat visitors.
Upon arrival, I received a Mojito at the front desk while checking in--that was nice! They helped with my bags to the room upstairs--no elevator. Very nice man. A nice room with small balcony and a rack to hang wet clothes on. No smoking on the balcony. We did walk past a coin laundry. I brought my own powder detergent and dryer sheets. The gift shop also sells these. The machines take quarters--$1.50 each. Push the Start button on the dryer first and see if there is still some time left on it before you put money in. The room has a cooler that holds 12 cans and a room safe in the closet. One day there was a notice on the dresser that a wedding would be taking place. It didn't matter to me until that night. There were loud people waking me up yelling at 4 am still partying. Maybe that's why they give you a heads up? The calamari at the bar was a nice snack. My favorite meal was the Seafood Symphony at Ike's Bistro. Breakfast service wasn't so great. (I did not do all-inclusive) The sign says wait to be seated so I did. A server kind of waved me on in so I sat down. No water or menu after a minute or two (very few people) so I left. I wanted to order a la carte as the sign said one could do rather than the buffet. There are other places to go for breakfast within walking distance. Dunkin Donuts was popular. There is a crepe stand behind Casa Del Mar by the pool that is good too. Twist of Flavors also serves breakfast but they don't open until 8am. Juan Valdez has good coffee and serves food items as well. There is a small market directly across from Twist of Flavors that has a lot of stuff including 12 packs of beer. I took a small bus into town from the stop just south of Alhambra. It was $2 cash. I took a cab back to the resort. Most cab rides were $10. (Cabs aren't as plentiful on Sundays and are $3 extra) The absolute best thing about Manchebo is the beach--nice and wide with spacing between the palapas and not packed together. I walked out in the morning about 8 or 9 am and put a chaise under an empty palapa. An employee ran over and put a towel cover on the back of my chair and asked my room number. I had the beach towel they give you so he knew I was with Manchebo. I didn't make a reservation--don't know if I needed to or not. I sat there all day long with the exception of going to the room for more drinks in the cooler. I went for a swim 3 times. It was fantastic. They bring an orange flag on a stick for you. Just stick that in the ground if you want anything and they bring you a menu and anything you want. There is a faucet to the north end of the beach to rinse your feet when you leave. I would definitely stay here again for the beach experience.
Manchebo truly gives you perfect relaxation. From the second you walk into the airy lobby you feel all of your worries disappear. Followed by your delicious welcome drinks, you feel right at home and know the Manchebo staff are taking care of you. The beach is beautiful! White sand, turquoise water, and relatively calm water make it the best beach in Aruba in my opinion. The food is impeccable. The Chophouse's lobster special and Ike's Bistro paella night are phenomenal. During paella night, Chef Erick Puerta provided a mouthwatering seafood paella and chicken paella which made us come back for seconds! Really good quality and authentic. If you're looking for an amazing beach, great service, quietness, and impeccable food Manchebo is the place.
Well after 5 days and 4 night, we had an exceptional stay at Manchebo Beach Resort to celebrate a significant wedding anniversary. The view, the beach and the hotel staff are wonderful. Hope to return next year and many more after that!
Thanks for the most wonderful time.
