A serene, seven-acre hideaway in the rugged wine country between Los Angeles and San Francisco
There’s a reason the Casitas at Arroyo Grande are a sought-after site for weddings; the entire property exudes romance, from the gas fireplaces in the casitas to the stunning mountain views from the central fountain. Owners Pat and Tony Goetz transformed this private estate into a four-cottage property that has the charm of a B+B and the sensibility of a boutique hotel. They aim to be welcoming, inviting guests to wine and cheese in the main hacienda, but not intrusive, dropping off breakfast at each casita’s private patio. The Spanish Revival architecture and Tuscan-style gardens complete the scene at this quintessential central California oasis.
In the Area
Guests who can drag themselves away from their private patio or the solar heated lap pool can revisit the Gatsby era by touring nearby Hearst Castle, visit the Monarch Butterfly Grove, horseback ride or swim on Pismo Beach, stroll the galleries and shops of San Luis Obispo, or hit up some of the local wineries—15 of which are within a 15 minute drive of the property. The area is known for its Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs; one more reason to raise a toast to California’s central coast.
