How to Get There
I have been working with the reservations and sales team at La Paloma in coordination for a group rate for my wedding. Miranda has been phenomenal to work with! Honestly out of all the vendors I have been in contact with, she is the most prompt in response and most kind! She has and this portion of wedding planning stress free!
To put it in perspective throughout this year she reaches out within the day for any question I have, where as other hotels took over a week! It seems simple, but it made a huge difference. Thank you MIRANDA!
Was there as part of a brief girls trip. Haven’t stayed here in years but used to live in Tucson and expected a high level of service based on previous reputation. I am also a loyal SPG member who travels on a biweekly basis so I do have an level of expectation for any Westin property. The adjoining rooms we had were spacious and well appointed but several examples of poor service were evident. First, I arrived on Saturday around 130 with a roller bag and two other bags. The 3 bell staff members sat and watched me approach on foot (I had self parked) but did not offer to help me with my bags or help me get to my room or the check in desk or even ask me if I was checking in. I then went to the front desk to see if I could send my bags to the room (my party had already checked in and I had the room number) and was told that I could only check my bag with the bell staff but they would not send them to the room. Ordered poolside and observed the waitress actually ask a guest across the pool if she wanted her to bring her her drink or if she wanted to come across and get it. I’m sorry, but a pool side service should serve you not ask you to come and get it. I was there from Saturday to Monday and the same plate and napkins that the people before us left outside our room never moved. Overall the property is physically nice but I was disappointed with every single staff member I encountered with the exception of the host at Azul restaurant who filled our cups with ice when we asked for it. He was great but at that point the service bar had been readjusted to a new low.
Tracy Hill at the Front desk went above and beyond to make sure my birthday/family reunion weekend at La Paloma was simply outstanding! The only issue we had was resolved within an hour. And the unexpected birthday treat basket was a nice touch!
We had 20 of us there for a reunion and all of us had an amazing stay. The pool areas, the golf course and the rooms were perfect! Looking to do it again in a few years.
Thank you Tracy for making a memorable stay!
I am usually reluctant to complain about a hotel or any other organization on social media; I prefer to bring any problem directly to the notice of management which always leads to a better outcome for both parties.
We have just finished a month long holiday in Canada and USA staying at top hotels all the way. Our last stay was at Westin La Paloma resort in Tucson Arizona. This is a lovely property, a bit tired looking and appears to be short staffed, but nevertheless a nice spot for a quiet sojourn before a long flight home. I say ‘short staffed’ as our rooms were not cleaned when we were away for the day; there were always too few people at front counter; and they don’t appear to have a system in place to ensure that other individuals staying at the hotel or visiting (they appear to have a large local membership) are held responsible for their own restaurant bills.
Some other persons had taken it upon themselves to assign three separate bar/ restaurant bills to our room number. Although the front desk acknowledged and agreed when we were checking out that these items did not belong to our account, and even went to the trouble of giving us a corrected account before departing, we found that the extra charges were made later in any case - as a single line item - on the same day that we had left the hotel.
So I am posting this because I am having great difficulty in dealing with this overpayment on my final bill, or even getting a response from the hotel.
By the way, the extra charge amounted to about 20% of the room bill, not an inconsequential amount. This sort of things sours a lovely memory of a hotel. Some might even be inclined to call it fraudulent behaviour.
We booked a long weekend for a girls trip and were pleasantly surprised to find they were able to accommodate our room requests when we arrived. Our rooms were not ready so we headed to the pool and bar for a fun afternoon. We had been at the pool for a few hours when a sudden burst of wind uprooted 2 umbrellas, a glasstop table and other patio furniture. Two of us were sitting on the edge of the pool and one person was hit by the umbrella. I was in the pool with another friend and the umbrella knocked her to the side breaking her sunglasses. The umbrella with the 90lb stand hit me in the chest and knocked me backward into the water. I was pinned underwater by all of the debris that had fallen into the pool and was able to get my face above water through a hole in the umbrella fabric. Several guest jumped in and along with my friend pulled the umbrella off of me and helped me out of the pool.
We stood soaking wet at the side of the pool when management showed up. They offered ice but never offered medical care. We had one person with a bump on the back of her head, one person with an injured wrist and broken sunglasses and myself with a bruised and bleeding lip, bruised shin and cuts on my back. I was told that my face didn't look very swollen!
Alex Pogue and Amy were quick to offer our food and drinks comped for the day and our room comped for the night. My friend suggested they also comp us for the next day and they were quick to oblige. They sent a cheese plate and wine to our room and that was the last nice thing they did.
The next day we arrived at the pool in the early afternoon and were told that they would not comp our drinks when asked about the room Faye Jackson the front desk manager told us "they had done everything they were prepared to do". Not one staff member asked again if we were okay or injured. They treated us badly for the rest of the trip.
We are now departing and I have scabs on my face, back and legs from injuries sustained at their property through no fault of my own. I would not recommend staying here if you are looking for well trained staff who know how to take care of guests.
