How to Get There
My company has held annual conferences at the Westin La Paloma for many years. The staff go above and beyond for us. I am a Conference Planner and with that comes a lot of hand holding but I do not have to do that at the Westin, they are absolutely on top of things. Most of their staff have been there for decades and it really shows. They made my job so easy and relieved me of so much stress.
A special thanks to Austin, our Conference Services Manager, Peter, the Banquets Manager - who I firmly believe should be renamed the Westin Genie; Rob, Jeff, Lisa, Shawn, DeAnn, Ruben, Keith, and Giovanny of the Banquets team; Michelle, Charles, Willie, and Roger of the AV Team, Kyler in reservations, James, Tommy, Mike, Kent, and Stevan at the Front Drive, Jose and Felicia at the Front Desk, and the Engineering team.
As far as the property goes, it is gorgeous. There is an incredible view of the mountains from the lobby, restaurant, and pools. My room overlooked the pools and Mountains making for a beautiful scene. The rooms are great as well! I love the shower heads and spaciousness of the room. For the first time, I got to experience the pools and loved it! There is a mineral pool, hot tub, adult pool that is heated at the perfect temperature, the main pool that was playing a movie and has a swim up bar open during the day, along with the water slide also open during the day.The food all around is also magnificent! I would recommend this resort to anyone and everyone!
This is a very nice hotel that has been around for a long time. It was of course clean, and had nice pools. I liked the swim up bar, did not like kids could eat at the bar, since it was summer, and hot, it offered a little shade so kids were in it often. Would like to see the bar area kept clear for adults. We got a nice room rate for the level of $133.00 before resort fees for the night. It had a coffee maker, fridge, and a nice balcony. Staff was great, especially Justin the valet worker. However at $133.00 a night during their low season, why do we have to pay $25.00 a night for valet parking? This isn't Vegas or even high golf season with temps at or over 100 degrees.I have stayed at other nice level hotels in the area, besides the swim up pool I have to say I actually like Loews Ventana Canyon better. My biggest say about this place is a nice place to stay, but don't over pay for it. There are a lot of nice hotels not far from here so look around for the best pricing.
We are locals who like weekend stays in resorts over the summer, and we were very excited to stay at this resort. Well our 4 hours there were horrible! We went to check in at 7 PM, and were told our room wasn't ready. Really? Check-in is normally at 4 PM! So we grabbed dinner, and got our room after 8 PM. Immediately when we walked in, we noticed that the A/C was very loud, but we figured it was because they had cranked it down to 65 degrees. So we turned it up thinking it would get better. Nope! It got worse - banging and rattling noises coming from the A/C vent. We called the front desk to complain, and their response was they were "at capacity" but they could fix it in the morning. We tried to sleep, but obviously couldn't due to the racket the A/C was making. So I called the front desk at around midnight to say we were checking out and wanted to make sure someone was at the front desk to assist us. Their response was to ask if we needed a bellman to help us with our bags. SERIOUSLY?! So we checked out and drove home at 12:30 AM. Thank god we were locals because otherwise their solution was to have us stay in a room where we couldn't sleep! No offer of another room, no offer to find us a room at another hotel even though they're Marriott owned and have quite the pick of resorts. It was truly appalling that this is how customers are treated. Don't stay here!
