How to Get There
The hotel is really lovely, we booked a bit late, so we didn't have one of the big rooms, but still. Entrance hall very impressive. Rooms are clean and a good size. We were on the bottom floor and it was really quiet. Location is perfect to do everything by foot. We parked near the river and thus only paid 4€ for 24 hours. Staff was friendly. The breakfast room was the old chapel, so it was really nice to sit in. My only comment would be the breakfast. At 22€ per person, it's a bit expensive, it was ok but I've seen better ones for less.
Very nice hotel - spectacular venue as the building used to be a church. Perfectly located if you like to enjoy the centre of Mechelen. Friendly welcome, easy check in and check out. Nicely maintained and clean room. Rooms on the 2nd level (room no’s. 200+) are quiet. Hotel car park isn’t easy to access and navigate for larger cars - but there is an easy to navigate, large car park in very close proximity.
Love the hotel and the location. Enjoy the lobby bar, which also served up a first rate carpaccio, but on one night was too boisterous for even us to enjoy a nightcap. Two negative observations. One, the rooms are furnished for style not function so there are no drawers at all and we end up living out of our suitcases. Two, the towels are thin and minimally sized, give a motel flavor to what is otherwise a pleasant bathroom.
Had an amazing experience at this hotel! We had the junior suite and was absolutely stunning! Check in was smooth. Very friendly and helpfull reception. The room was in our case the room what we saw on the pictures, so very happy with that! Architecture is amazing they made it beautiful a combination of an actual hotel within the structure of this old church. Amazing experience.
Its right in the centre from Mechelen so do think about that if you are coming with the car. We did some research beforehand and found two public parkings near the centre either the public parking on Douaneplein or the public parking at the Rode Kruis plein. We left the car on the rode kruisplein and took a cab to and from the hotel. In the weekend its free the public parking however it is a public parking though. I think there are many other payed parkings closer by if you prefer that.
The room is cold (they do have an airco, so i think in the summer its good) but like most places in EU and especially in these kind of authentic places its very common. We always have a little tiny electric heater in the suitcase just in case ;) Never cold anymore wherever, heats up all places we are going in a short time. I know its not what you pay for etc but really some authentic places like that always have issues with the heating in EU regardless if its 4/5 * you can complain all you want but sometimes it really is the structure of the location so its better to fix it with a little low voltage heater what really does help ;)
All in all a beautifull place, authentic and truely like staying in an museum.
We really enjoyed our stay at Martin's Patershof. We were in a deluxe cosy room in the church building. Cosy is a good description, because the arches minimize the area you can move about in the room. The bathroom does not have a full shower but rather a tub with a hand wand. Check in was efficient and friendly. We were directed to the parking easily. The hotel is a short walk to the old town. The only downside was that I wish they had nicer towels, they weren't really large and fluffy (minor detail but one I always note).
