A stylish five-star Sheraton beach stay on the Canary isle of Fuerteventura, with spa access and half board

The Lowdown

The Canary Island of Fuerteventura is favoured by beach aficionados and active types alike. Embrace both in five-star luxury at Sheraton Fuerteventura Beach, Golf & Spa Resort. Standing proudly in palatial fashion overlooking the magnificent sweep of beach at Caleta de Fuste, it pays tribute to Canarian design in its architecture, with arched balustraded balconies, terracotta buildings and red tiled roofs. Immaculately landscaped tropical gardens, complete with babbling waterfall, and manicured lawns slope gently towards the sea.
Its grounds house an impressive freeform oasis-like swimming pool, guarded by natural boulders and palm trees, plus three other pools. Enjoy a cocktail at the poolside bar or amble down for a stroll or sunbathe on the long expanse of sandy beach. Elsewhere you’ll find a flagship 1000-square-metre spa – a destination in itself. Golf buffs can tee off on a mini-golf course on site or enjoy premium access to the 18-hole courses at Fuerteventura Golf Club and Golf Club Salinas Antigua.
Back at the hotel, you can dine at one of four restaurants that run the gamut of global cuisine, before rounding off the evening with a cocktail in the Piano Lobby Bar.

Fantastic, Friendly, Comfortable Hotel Stay
Reviewed 4 days ago

Stayed for 6 nights B&B in a Premium Room booked through easyJet. Carlos welcomed us outside the hotel, taking all our bags so that we could check in. He then popped a bottle of Cava and provided us with a glass as we checked in. He showed us to our room, which had a lovely view out, and explained where everything was. The room was fabulous, large bed, twin sinks, separate walk in shower and bath and separate toilet and bidet. There was plenty of wardrobe space and we were offered more hangers if required. The balcony area was large and had a small table, comfortable wicker chairs with a footstool and cushions, not your usual plastic ones. The staff could not do enough for you and were warm and friendly at all times. They were even able to loan us some travel adapters as we had forgotten to bring any. Breakfast choice was fantastic and one novel thing was a fresh whole honeycomb dripping fresh honey. Antonio always had a lovely smile when enquiring if we would like tea or coffee with breakfast.
The hotel is located away from the main central area of town where most of the restaurants are but there is a lovely promenade beach walk to get there and definitely helped with walking meals down. There is a shopping mall not far from the Hotel, which came in handy for the odd purchases. The choice of pools at the Hotel was good with a separate children's pool at one end. There's plenty of activities going on through the day if you want to join in. The whirlpool was a rather nice touch too and the gardens are very beautiful and well kept. The Veranda Bar was great for a drink and something to eat in-between catching rays. Every night there is some entertainment at the Lobby Piano Bar or you can sit and chill out on the terrace, patio heaters provided at the time we visited. Check out was really easy and a taxi was called for us on departure.
Overall, fantastic, friendly hotel and would definitely like to return. Thank you to all the staff that made our stay really great.

Wonderful week at the Sheraton Fuereteventura celbrating recovery from life threatening illness

My wife and I spent a fabulous week at the Sheraton. We stayed in a Premium King room with garden view. The room was spacious, the bed was amazing and our balcony offered a view over the beautiful gardens and allowed us to enjoy the morning sunshine. We were so impressed by the attentiveness of the staff and their attention to detail. Breakfast offered a very wide variety of hot and cold food in a self service buffet. If you are a coffee drinker and yoy find the coffee in the pots a little stale, there are other alternatives. You can order fresh made coffee from your table or visit the man operating the machine. There are also self service bean to cup machines available. We did try the buffet dinner one evening. It was truly outstanding with a very wide variety of dishes to select from, but we decided that or us it was too big a meal too late in the day. The entire building and estate is immaculately cleen and fresh. Evening entertainment in the piano bar was very enjoyable although a relatively small number of residents attended the event. Thank you everyone - we plan to visit you again net year.

Some things excellent, some awful.

Stayed for one week in an executive suite booked package with Jet2Holidays "Luxe" collection.
Hotel beautuiful, gardens beautiful to meander around. Staff throughout the hotel excellent almost without exception especially the Reception staff who were particularly excellent the best we have ever experienced.

Executive suite was excellent, large lounge, good bedroom with two doubles, huge bathroom, great storage, massive balcony and lovely view.

So why only 3 stars ?

What really lets this hotel down massively is the main buffet restaurant. It is very cold in there, the plates are stone cold, the food is just lukewarm so by the time you put warm food on cold plates and sit in the cold draught your food is completely cold in minutes ! Food selection limited and repetitive. You can stand in a queue at the fresh cooking station then have it placed on a cold plate with lukewarm vegetables ... well you get what I mean. There is a roast section but you have to wait ages for someone to come and carve you some as they are very understaffed.

We thought it odd on our first night that no one was dressed up ( in a 5* restaurant ? ) then we realised it was because of the cold - people were wearing jeans, fleeces zipped up to their necks, hoodies, quilted jackets and scarves. Guests were rubbing their arms and complaining about it. By our 6th night we had had enough - walked in to find they has split the dining room in half with an ugly screen, people had to queue for a table. It was like a school dinner hall with tablecloths. We complained to the Maitre D. It was freezing cold then. We left after 10 mins. I NEVER complain in hotels, just don't go back, but I was furious that we were having such an unpleasant experience every night. We paid £3500 for one week and expected better. Breakfast you have to get your own tea / coffee, the water boiler is barely warm. When I complained to the lady in a suit at the door her response was " You tell a waiter " !!! Incidentally on our last day they were bringing drinks to tables, perhaps my complaining is bearing fruit for current and future guests /

I would not go back. The enjoyment of an evening meal taken at leisure in a superior hotel is a highlight of our holiday and we felt very let down.

Also little things like no little touches - no wine or fruit on arrival, no complimentary water after first day, variable housekeeping. Cushion missing off sunlounger, broken shower - on arrival - why did we have to ask for these to be sorted ?

The Sheraton obviously gets some things right, perhaps the hotel needs to look at the restaurant management.

p.s. the Jet2Holiday rep, Debbie , was excellent, a really lovely lady.

Fantastic relaxing week

We stayed for a week half board in the Sheraton and felt compelled to write a review. The whole experience from check in to departure was an absolute pleasure. This is a great hotel in all respects but as a family with a 4 year old the range of swimming pools, including a kids pool heated to 27C, a great kids club and a child friendly beach in front of the hotel deserve a particular mention. The breakfast was superb, freshly squeezed juices and smoothies, great coffee and lots of food choices. We ate one night in the El Faro restaurant and the food and service was exceptional. Last, but not least, the biggest asset of the hotel is the people. A particular shout out to Carlos x 2 on reception and Jamie who as managing director ensures you want for nothing. If you are after a place to recuperate this is the place.

Currently here. Weather varies from hot sun to cool breeze so come prepared with layers. Classy hotel decorated in typical Canadian style. If you are looking for a minimalist contemporary environment this is probably not the place for you. So far service excellent and food OK. The buffet restaurant is pleasant but a little soul less at night. Swop dinner for lunch occasionally to mix it up.
Hotel take note - Maybe turn the lights down a tad and have candles on tables in the evening to create a nicer atmosphere in buffet area?
Got a great deal through easyJet holidays btw, so shop around. Hotel seems half empty so maybe that explains it.
Enjoying the live music in lounge ( 9pm each evening). Not a hotel for ravers or for a long stay but ideal for relaxing break in sophisticated environment.
Beds are super comfy which is a big plus for me.
