A stylish five-star Sheraton beach stay on the Canary isle of Fuerteventura, with spa access and half board

The Lowdown

The Canary Island of Fuerteventura is favoured by beach aficionados and active types alike. Embrace both in five-star luxury at Sheraton Fuerteventura Beach, Golf & Spa Resort. Standing proudly in palatial fashion overlooking the magnificent sweep of beach at Caleta de Fuste, it pays tribute to Canarian design in its architecture, with arched balustraded balconies, terracotta buildings and red tiled roofs. Immaculately landscaped tropical gardens, complete with babbling waterfall, and manicured lawns slope gently towards the sea.
Its grounds house an impressive freeform oasis-like swimming pool, guarded by natural boulders and palm trees, plus three other pools. Enjoy a cocktail at the poolside bar or amble down for a stroll or sunbathe on the long expanse of sandy beach. Elsewhere you’ll find a flagship 1000-square-metre spa – a destination in itself. Golf buffs can tee off on a mini-golf course on site or enjoy premium access to the 18-hole courses at Fuerteventura Golf Club and Golf Club Salinas Antigua.
Back at the hotel, you can dine at one of four restaurants that run the gamut of global cuisine, before rounding off the evening with a cocktail in the Piano Lobby Bar.

Beautiful hotel

I stayed here with my partner. The five star points are as follows. The rooms are beautiful. Spotless clean, massive, beautifully furnished. We had a lovely terrace which overlooked the gardens and pool. It was breathtaking. The breakfast was beautiful everyday with a large selection of cooked and fresh food. The pool area was just beautiful. Plenty of sun loungers, bali beds and comfortable furnishings. Pools were heated which was amazing . The public areas around toilets and pools were spotless clean.
Not so 5 star: despite being beautiful and spotless clean, the toilet seat in our bathroom was completely broke. After almost falling we noticed a fixture for securing one side completely missing . This would defiantly be noticed when cleaning . I also stood on a screw on the floor but I don't know where it came from. The beds are simply the worst concept ever. They were two singles pushed together which simply kept separating leaving a sizeable gap between the beds. The edge of the mattresses were that hard I was left bruised from when I did lie in the middle. It was impossible and ridiculous as my partner and I felt like two children. This obviously impacted on our stay.
The management need to seriously look at this as it was the biggest disappointment in such a beautiful hotel.
The evening food was only nice but not 5 star. It wasn't hot and unfortunatly it was limited due to the amount of flies landing directly on the food, which I tended to try avoid.
The staff were all extremely friendly which was lovely and a real credit to the hotel.
The major factor which stood out to me was the fact that despite the beauty of the area and hotel, it lacked that holiday feeling. There was no atmosphere at all. We popped next door to the 4 star elba to book an excursion and immediately seen and felt the difference! It was buzzing with atmosphere and excitement.
Such a beautiful hotel, it's just a pity. Beds remained the biggest let down of the week. Might as well have left them separate . Again all staff lovely!

Great pools, ideal for families...

A further enjoyable visit over the Easter period - The pools are great for families, garden areas are equally pretty. Its a large hotel so little individuality but a good option for the area, right on the beach and short walk into Caleta - Didn't take the food options so cannot comment.

I cannot fault the hotel and staff for a fantastic holiday..from arrival to departure we were treated on arrival with a glass of Prosecco and shown to our room by David who was very accommodating and informative ornar checked us in and was so friendly and accommodating.
The breakfast and entertainment was superb

Great rooms and service

We had a sea view suite. which was excellent and the balcony was big.
The pool areas were good and the kids club excellent. All staff were polite and helpful. The pool bar is good but the main restaurant is not the best. The menu is fairly limited and the food quite basic.

Great hotel food not good!

Holiday with 3 children. The dinner is not great. Do not book half board a wast of money. My fourth visit’ staff attentive and helpful do everything to please and make ur stay amazing. Hotel is wonderful as always. But the food at dinner has gone down hill since my first second and third visit . I will consider in future to go but as bed and breakfast only. I hope the hotel realise the negative comments about dinner and will change this. Although If like me u have multiple children and want to entertain them this will not happen! however I took a trip to Elba Carlton next door and what amazing entertainment for children and adults although cheaper and not 5*. But sure I will consider using his hotel in the future as a parent. X
