How to Get There
I was quite disappointed with my stay here.
We had booked a sea view room, but was given a partial sea view room. When I called reception they said there was no rooms left and they will sort it out tomorrow first thing.
Luggage came up to our room half an hour late! And that was after I called them again.
Breakfast is hectic, no one is shown to a table. You can find a table but after getting your food someone else has taken it. So you just end up walking around with your food looking for another one.
Fresh orange juice is provided but at an extra cost.
Housekeeping is ok.
Receptionist Side, needs extra training. Me and husband found her to be extremely rude and arrogant.
Taxi service provided by the hotel were more friendly than the staff in the hotel. Especially Nadi who took us to the waterfalls.
Room service food was nice, but arrived cold on 2 occasions.
Spa, had an amazing massage by Amina. However did not enjoy my facial, as it wasn't a tranquil, quiet environment.
The prices are in Euro, however they do accept Turkish lira. You have to ask. And if possible ask for a price list in Turkish lira also. I took their word for it and paid 933 TL, also no receipt was given.
First time that I have been on holiday, was looking forward to going back home.
Akra Hotel ; close to the old town , far from resort area , NO Beach only swimming pools , good quality of food , NO night entertainment for family , no activity for kids other than pools , be careful when use any spa or hotel activity as they mention price in EURO not turkish Lira .. SPA very average not recommended
We stayed in Akra for a week in a Mediterranean suite. Breakfast was very good, with a great variety of food, bread and fruits. However, for a 5* hotel, I would have expected for freshly squeezed orange juice to be available. It was but we at extra cost. We had half board so we had dinner at the buffet every night and food was fresh and with a great variety.
Service around pool area wasn’t available for opening parasols and finding sun loungers. We had to ask the waiters from the bar/restaurant to help us with the parasols as many of them wouldn’t open.
We might have been spoiled after few holidays in Dubai where you experience a high level of service in any 5* star hotel, so can’t help but compare with Akra.
Where do I start with Akra hotel. I would say the view that you get from the sea view rooms is the best thing in this hotel apart from that everything else is very average and not very 5*.
I’ll start off with check in, it was quite unusual no smiles, no welcome drink or cold towel staff wasn’t even interested in making conversation. Anyway we booked a sea view room we come to the room and it was partially sea view room, we called to say this is not what we booked the person we spoke to was very quick to say we don’t have any rooms available I told them I wasn’t happy about this. Then 2 minutes later a manager called and told us there is a room available and this room had a better view. The room itself is modern however I found it very small, in photos it looked very big but it was actually a very small room, which is very misleading. The location of the hotel is good, the pool, beach and views are the best thing about the hotel.
The hotel itself had great facilities and a nice private beach however be careful trying to reach there as we encountered a small snake as we was walking on the stairs. Everyone using the stairs frozen and waited for the snake to leave. Breakfast was good with a variety of hot and cool foods, I did enjoy eating breakfast outside with the sea view. Staff need to be careful with where they keep their trolleys as one morning we were eating breakfast and it was really windy, the trolley went flying in to the tables behind us and it smashed plates with food and hot drinks went everywhere. This was so dangerous, if that was my table I would’ve got hurt by the hot drinks. Luckily it was the table behind me.
For me there were more negatives than positives whilst staying in this hotel, I’m sure you can stay near by for cheaper and with the same view. I certainly didn’t feel this had 5* service, staff didn’t seem bothered and the concierge were clueless. Sometimes a view just isn’t enough, As a travel blogger I have to travelled to so many places in the world and stayed in many 5* hotels and what makes a 5* a 5* hotel is the service, the service is what makes the difference. I’d be very honest I’ve stayed in 3* hotels that had better service than Akra hotel. Here I found service to be poor here and staff have a certain level or arrogance about them. Even when you call the call centre they just seem unhelpful and clueless.
Would I return? No, this stay wasn’t good enough for me to return. When I return to Antalya I will be staying elsewhere.
The hotel lived up to all the reviews id seen before booking. The location is excellent and the facilities are great. The food choice at breakfast and dinner is expansive and all very good tasty food. Overall it was thoroughly relaxing and enjoyable would definitely recommend.
