My wife and I visited Mérida in 2015 and stayed at Koox Casa de las Palomas. We returned in 2019 and stayed there again. It is the perfect location to explore an incredible city. It is walking distance to the Centro Histórico and Paseo de Montejo, to great shops, galleries, museums and restaurants. La Negrita, a terrific Cuban bar with live music, is only a block away. Though “in the thick of it,” Las Palomas is on a quiet street and has a wonderful atrium and pool – the perfect escape from the oppressive Yucatán heat. The small boutique hotel is in an old building with a modern addition. The rooms are spacious, cool and clean. My wife and I fell in love with the outdoor shower. Next time we go to Mérida, we’ll definitely stay at Koox "otra ves".

Best boutique hotel

My partner and i had the pleasure of staying at this absolutely fabulous, stylish and delightful hotel for 2 nights as we traveled Mexico on vacation from Australia - I hVe to say this is the best boutique hotel I have ever stayed at.
The staff were amazing , the breakfast plentiful, fresh and served with love and kindness. The room we stayed in was fabulous with a wonderful outdoor shower - what a joy to start the day with. The decor, and attention to detail is fabulous one could easily move in here an stay forever - great pool - excellent location to stores, restaurants and local attractions - all in all after 5 weeks travelling this hotel was my pick of the very best in Mexico - thank you owners and staff for a welcome stay in your wonderful hotel

A bit rough and ready for the price

This hotel has a good central location, in walking distance of the old parts of town, and we had no particular issues. The parking was free, but it is a five minute walk from the hotel in an unlit area on another street.
We really weren't that impressed with las palomas because the decor of the room was a bit rough for what we were paying. OK, this is a boutique hotel in an old building, but the bathroom was pretty rough, there was no window, and just from a housekeeping perspective there were some stains on the sheets and the towels we got on the second day had holes in them you could put your arms through.
Nothing major, it just wouldn't be our first choice on a repeat trip. On Sunday night the cantina down the road was playing really loud music, but they shut it down around 9 or 10pm, so it shouldn't give you any issues unless you need to sleep early, and if you want to party it could be a bonus.
