Located in the heart of Malaga near mass transit and the beach on Spain’s Costa del Sol, this Barcelo outpost features 221 rooms that echo the playful modernist vibe found throughout the hotel. From the lobby’s enormous, tear-drop shaped chandeliers to its stainless steel slide that empties into B-Lounge, the design here is decidedly slick. B-Lounge rocks glossy mosaic-tiled walls and lime green cube-shaped chairs and is a great place to nurse a cocktail before heading out for a night on the town. And guests will enjoy creature comforts such as free WiFi, satellite TV, a gym and sauna.
In the Area
Bustling Malaga is a popular stop for most people visiting Spain’s famed Costa del Sol. Shopping opportunities abound here, and some of the best streets to flex that plastic are Calle Larios, Carretería, Álamos and Alcazabilla. The city is perhaps most famous as Pablo Picasso’s birthplace, and so the Museo Picasso, housed in a 16th century palace with over 200 works of art, is a must-see. For a history lesson, visit La Alcazaba, a fortress for the city’s Muslims rulers. And if you want to find a place to unfurl your beach towel, you can do that, too.
How to Get There
We were really going to Seville so only stayed here one night before catching the train. We didn't realise how much there was to see in Malaga or we would have stayed longer. The hotel has a great location. A quick and cheap train from the airport takes you to the door. Our room was fresh and clean and breakfast had everything you could ask for.
The Barcelo in Malaga is a perfect spot if you want to make further excursions to cities in Andalusia. It is situated very close to trainstation, so very convenient when you have to travel from the airport to the city.
Although the outward appearance might feel businesslike, the service is warm and welcoming. The rooms are spacious and cool. Household services are neat. Breakfast offers a abundant choice of food and drinks and - if you arrive tired from another excursion and you have no energy left to leave the hotel- there is an excellent restaurant on the first floor.
The only advantage I experienced was the walk to the city centre approx. 15 min. However, you get used to that too, easily
Enjoyed my 3 nites the mall and train station right next door was ideal
And the pool and rooftop was amazing .
Would want more selection of hot food at breakfast and more english channels on tv or subtitles but cant fault the hotel was lovely
We stayed in a suite in the top floor and it exceeded our expectations. Very spacious and luxurious. My husband had ordered champagne and chocolate covered strawberries and they arrived exactly when he'd ordered them for. It only has a small terrace pool which we didn't use but it's close to beaches. There is a back entrance that connects to the main Malaga train station. However the best feature is a slide for adults that goes from the first floor down to reception!
Had a BALL here for our work Xmas party.
they have a slide from the 1st floor into reception!! HOW COOL!! haha
Rooms were clean and very nice!
Only thing I would say is the xmas dinner wasn't nice.. and the bar man in Reception was unbelievably rude!!
