Located in the heart of Malaga near mass transit and the beach on Spain’s Costa del Sol, this Barcelo outpost features 221 rooms that echo the playful modernist vibe found throughout the hotel. From the lobby’s enormous, tear-drop shaped chandeliers to its stainless steel slide that empties into B-Lounge, the design here is decidedly slick. B-Lounge rocks glossy mosaic-tiled walls and lime green cube-shaped chairs and is a great place to nurse a cocktail before heading out for a night on the town. And guests will enjoy creature comforts such as free WiFi, satellite TV, a gym and sauna.
In the Area
Bustling Malaga is a popular stop for most people visiting Spain’s famed Costa del Sol. Shopping opportunities abound here, and some of the best streets to flex that plastic are Calle Larios, Carretería, Álamos and Alcazabilla. The city is perhaps most famous as Pablo Picasso’s birthplace, and so the Museo Picasso, housed in a 16th century palace with over 200 works of art, is a must-see. For a history lesson, visit La Alcazaba, a fortress for the city’s Muslims rulers. And if you want to find a place to unfurl your beach towel, you can do that, too.
How to Get There
We stayed at this hotel for four nights - excellent in every way. Staff friendly and very helpful. Rooms cleaned to perfection and comfy beds. Breakfast superb - a continuous flow of quality food to suit every palette.
It is a bit of a trek to town but taxi relatively cheap and so easy. (Pick up from station). It is walkable but we wanted to spend our energy taking in Malaga town, beech and marina. The hotel is off the station - very easy for airport. The roof pool garden is a pleasant surprise - you do not hear the trains! We left with smilies on our faces following a friendly final chat and check in with the lovely reception staff. Thank you - hope to see you again one day!
Also - there is a beech 10 mins walk away - turn right out of hotel - left for Malaga town etc.
Very much enjoyed our stay, Junior Suite was very comfortable and clean, the bars and facilities are excellent. Only wish is that the rooftop/poolside bar was open later than 7pm and on days other than Fri-Sun.
I will likely be staying here again when I return to Malaga.
Very nice hotel. Perfect location. Very good breakfest with fresh products, but also expensive... Room is very clean. People at reception are very friendly and helpful. 20 minutes walk from the old town.
Very convenient hotel, 3 trainstops from the airport costing €1.80 for single trip. Great fun on the hotel slide from the 1st floor to reception. Friendly staff, excellent breakfast choices. Conveniently situated beside a shopping mall & train station, supermarket, restaurants and bars next door but you can't hear any noise from this. Turn left from the hotel to walk towards the port and central part of Malaga, not far at all.
Stayed 3 nights with the girls for a hen party. I wish we have booked longer. The hotel is absolutely beautiful. Shopping centre literally next door with shops, restaurants and everything you need. The staff are so lovely and the rooms are perfect. Highly recommend.
