How to Get There
On a regular weekend weekend away, having decide to go to Amsterdam we plumped for the Park Hotel, a good price for a good standard of accommodation and central location location.
We flew in from Edinburgh and gven the location of the hotel the #397 airport bus was the best option to get us close. The bus took about 30 minutes to get into town and cost about 11 Euros for a return ticket. There is a stop about 5 minutes walk from the hotel.
The hotel has a modern style, we were allocated a good sized room with a high ceiling and floor to ceiling windows. The bed was large and comfortable bed. Other furniture comprised bedside tables, desk with seat, another seat, good flat screen TV on wall, modern decor.
There was a small wardrobe and storage area with tea/coffee facilities and an expensive mini-bar.
The en-suite bathroom was a good size, there was both bath and shower, the shower with good force and plenty of hot water. Toiletries were provided and the towels were clean and fluffy.
The view from the room was not spectacular but the large windows did give an aspct of the city and and made the room seem bright and airy.
One downside was that the hotel was undergoing renovations. These didn't seem that well managed with respect to the temporary reception, lounge and bar. The temporary passageways, partitions, were not signposted well and did not seem very stable.
The staff were friendly, effective and efficient, helpful from the start to the finish of our stay. The hotel offers a left luggage facility, free, so we left bags as we explored on our last day in town.
Despite the irritating impact of the refurbishment, we enjoyed our stay, the rooms was comfortable, the staff were friendly and effective and the location was ideal.
Stay here for 3 nights really easy to get to from the airport bus stop just up the road. Really helpful staff on reception who gave us a map and pointed out all the local areas. Thanks a lot really appreciate it. Room was great and really clean . Not that we stayed very long in the hotel . Too much to see and do . Really great location easy walk into the centre . We had a lovely time would definitely return loved Amsterdam. Can't comment on the food as we ate out all the time .
I took my wife to Amsterdam for her birthday. We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. It is centrally located very close to the main museums and the restaurant and cafe district. The receptionists really made us feel welcome and the breakfast choices were great. However, there were two negatives; firstly our superior room had just a bare floor which made our feet cold. Secondly, when we booked there was no mention of the extensive refurbishment which was taking place on the ground floor. I am torn between giving the hotel three or four stars but was won over by the receptionists.
Was there Sunday - Wednesday this week. Monday morning, a stranger (not cleaning staff) walks into my room twice. First time I was in the shower and could here someone walking around in the room; second time, I was in my underwear, when he comes inside. I had told the first time that I was in here and that he should leave...
I then ended up going to the reception and ask, why a stranger walks into my room, and they laugh and explain that they gave two people the same room. Even though I told them that I had been half-naked when he walked in and felt a bit violated, they simply laughed and apologized. I felt this reaction extremely disrespectful!
I asked "what now" and they said "since you've already unpacked, you can just stay in the room and we'll find another one for the other guy..".
Even though they are not responsible for how the other guest behaves, when he enters a room he thinks is his and sees someone already in there, I feel they should appreciate that it is an inherently unpleasant experience when someone walks inside who turns out not to be cleaning. Some sort of remediation should be given, and receptionists should certainly not laugh at you!
Place is under construction, means builders on every floor, lobby is a shambles, lift access dirty and concrete floor. I thought that a hotel should mention on its website if there is construction going on?! Anyway telling your clients beforehand would be the decent thing, not this hotel! They take the money and hope to get away with it. Room is 2 star quality and the bed is soo bad and soft that i was almost on the ground and rolled of it twice. I didn’t let them get away with it ( what they hope for) spoke to the duty manager and he was gracious enough to give me half of the room price back. So on that part no complaint. My dissatisfaction was and is that this hotel is cheating its clients by not mentioning construction. This hotel let clients sleep on old tired beds and still charge full price. Had issue with bill as well , took another half an hour, just hope it’s sorted. Bottom line: this hotel right now is not 4 star , neither does provide 4 star services but charges still 5 star prices. I feel cheated and it spoiled my Amsterdam stay. Be honest, be sincere , is that too much to ask for?! Avoid this hotel at all cost.
