How to Get There
lovely hotel, they collected us from the train station, not far from the centre about 10 minutes, go under the bridge and follow the signs to the centre as this will avoid the cyclists. The breakfast is really nice, we were in a superior suite so we had our own quieter dining area, everything you could wish for for breakfast and all freshly prepared, it is quite expensive but you get your money's worth, also with the deal we had we had entry to afternoon snacks, which was a bit of Iceland chicken and prawns on stick in goo sauce, soft drinks coffees and beers but still the drinks alone is worth it as the bar is so expensive, we also got money on our account to spend at the bar as to entice us in but really need a credit card as no way would you come out with change.
We stayed in the Movenpick in Amsterdam for two days waiting for our Baltic cruise. The hotel was very good in all respects and convenient for the cruise as the boat moored directly in front the hotel
We stayed here for two nights after a river cruise. The experience was mostly positive! Here is a run down:
EXCELLENT breakfast buffet - LOTS of selections
Extremely courteous staff
Convenient to the tram to Centraal Station and the rest of Amsterdam or walk to Centraal Station in 5-6 minutes
Yes it is modern (Jetsons as one person said) but it was quite comfy.
The pillows are horrible! LOL
Holland America booked us into this hotel before and after our Baltic cruise. It is just a couple of doors down from the attached cruise terminal. Our room was comfortable and quiet-we didn't even hear our ship arrive the morning we were to board. The bath is large and modern. There is free Wi-Fi! Breakfast was included in our booking and it was an excellent spread with a variety of hot and cold foods, including tiny Dutch pancakes. They have storage for luggage, which is great for your hand luggage for a little extra sightseeing before boarding your ship. The concierge has transportation tickets for sale that are good for 24 hours. There is a tram stop that is an easy walk from the hotel. The tram there takes you to the train station, where you can easily change to other trams to get to places such as the museums. Strictly speaking, if you are up for the 15-minute or so walk, you could walk to the train station itself, giving yourself a nice walk along the water, where you can see the river cruise ships.
The hotel is in direct vicinity of Amsterdam Centraal (5 minute walk) and as you would expect it is operated in a high quality and professional manner. The rooms are perfectly sized, modern and very clean. I simply love the view of Amsterdam - especially when getting a room in a higher level that faces the city.
