If you like your lodgings chic and central, then it’s hard to beat Hampshire Hotel – Eden Amsterdam. Situated on the famous Amstel River, this perfectly located gem puts you a stone’s throw away from Rembrandt Square and near the labyrinth of medieval alleyways that make up the Red Light District, easily the world’s most illustrious hub of hedonistic activity.
From this prime address in the city’s cultural heart, you’ll easily be able to fill your days admiring more than 200 treasured works of art by celebrated Dutch artist Vincent Van Gogh, checking out the rose garden at Vondelpark, visiting the Anne Frank House and hitting the bicycle-crazed streets for quirky one-off shops, hip cafés and centuries-old canals.
And now, for the “chic” bit. This hip hotel scores high marks for its non-showy design. Style-seekers will be wowed by the artsy guest rooms, with their oversized headboards adorned with dazzling tulip imagery, while stylish bathrooms keep everything fabulously mod.Things are just as perfect on the food-and-drinks front. The Parisian-inspired Brasserie FLO serves up delicious French fare, while Bar 36 Black is the place for evening cocktails and jazz.

The well-sized Executive room has floor-to-ceiling windows for great views of theAmstel River, either one double or two twin beds with extra pillows, a flat-screen TV with on-demand movies and a lovely bathroom with a bathtub or shower.

All-day dining is a Parisian-style affair at Brasserie FLO, an elegant space that showcases classic French cooking with a contemporary twist. For a more laid-back vibe, Bar 36 Black is open from 3pm to 1am for cold beers, cocktails, wine, appetizers and late-night jazz music. The buffet breakfast is especially worth getting out of bed for; expect a generous spread of freshly baked bread rolls, croissants, Dutch cheeses, fresh fruit, juices, tea and coffee, and much more. Alternatively, if you feel like grabbing something on the go, cold drinks and snacks are available from the vending machines in the lobby.
Set on the banks of the Amstel River and just a stone’s throw from Rembrandt Square, the hotel makes it easy to enjoy all the delights the Dutch capital has to offer. Beyond gazing at 200-year-old canals, must-dos include checking out the rose garden at Vondelpark, visiting the Anne Frank House and overdosing on artsy masterpieces at Rijksmuseum, Stedelijk Museum and Van Gogh Museum. How to Get There
We had a fantastic 4 days in our first visit to Amsterdam
Fab hotel the location perfect and staff lovely but a word of WARNING there is a little shop next door on the rear entrance with a sign over the door saying taxis to the airport €35 max 4 pers we took one and was charged €86 when I said the price was €35 the driver he said there must have been a misunderstanding it was quite clear price €35 euros I gave him €80 Which he was ok with and upon our return to Amsterdam I will pop in for a word 😡 If you need a taxi let the hotel organise one at €45 you won’t get ripped off.
This event was NO reflection on the hotel in any shape or form which was great
unfortunately it just slightly tarnished a great break through no fault of the hotel
Thank you once again everyone at the Eden hotel for our wonderful Amsterdam experience.
We will be back 👍
Overall the hotel is good, decent breakfast & helpful staff. The location is great too, making it very convenient to move around either by foot or using the metro or tram.
However, the apartments are not really a good option as the stairs are narrow & steep, making it very difficult to carry the luggage to the room.
Just returned from an amazing weekend. This hotel is in a perfect location in the Rembrandt Square. Very easy to get to from the airport and right beside a tram stop. Easy walking access to sights & canal walks. Lots of places to eat (our fav was Isola Bella!), drink & people watch! We had a lovely bright room, very comfy & clean. Breakfast is lovely & staff so helpful & nice. Book your trips with the concierge good value & very helpful. We loved it & couldn't complain about anything & I am a fussy traveller!
Staff were great, really helpful. Hotel was always kept clean, and was really quiet considering it’s in such a busy part of Amsterdam.
Perfect location for absolutely everything.
The only thing that was an issue was the lighting in the smaller double rooms. The decor of the room is nice but barely any natural light. Aside from that everything was great and I’d love to stay here again when I next come back to Amsterdam. Thanks!
Was looking at a hotel located near the centre. For that this hotel is perfect. 2 blocks away for the very centre. 20min walk to train station. 3 min Rembrandt place and opera house. Yet it is not in a crowded walking area. Rooms are tiny. Bed, shower and a desk. From bed to wall less than a meter on one side. Like a New York hotel...still 200euros plus. So quite expensive per sqm.
