How to Get There
Beautiful chic boutique hotel without being pretentious, wonderful staff, tasteful interior, comfortable beds and tasteful decor. Breakfast was lovely in the most gorgeous dining area. The toiletries provided were luxurious and will stop me taking anything myself next time .... there will absolutely be a next time and I’ll definitely be staying at The Canal House, loved it! It’s position is perfect, right by Anne Frank house and the nine streets area which (in my opinion) is the loveliest place to just wander - beautiful little shops and bars.
For our Honeymoon, my wife and I travelled to South Africa, Venice, Florence, and Paris - but I have to say that staying at the Canal House in Amsterdam was the highlight of our Honeymoon. Where to start?
-The staff were exceptionally helpful, friendly, and accommodating. After staying at a few places with middle to low-level customer service, this place shone like a beacon of hospitality. They treated us like we were family from the moment we arrived. And at the end of our stay, because we enjoyed the hotel so much and were curious about the other rooms, one of the managers kindly showed us around and told us some interesting history about the hotel. Apparently George Michael loved staying there!
-The place itself is fantastic...classy, luxurious, unique, great location.
-In the rooms, they give you specialty soap/shampoo/conditioner that is made by one of the owners. The products are absolutely first-rate, with all natural ingredients. Quite expensive to make or if you want to buy to take with you, but large bottles of the products are included in your room and free to use during your stay.
-The bed may have been the most comfortable bed my wife and I have ever slept in. We actually took pictures of the mattress/sheets/pillow brands so that we could try to purchase the same ones at home.
-The morning breakfast was unbelievable. We had just come from Paris, but we felt the croissants at the Canal House were better.
Honestly, it's difficult to express how much we liked this place. This is obviously an establishment that REALLY cares about the customer experience and the level of quality, and it shows in every little detail.
Thanks for such a memorable stay...we can't wait to come back!
I can't say enough good things about this lovely hotel. We have stayed here twice now and it was even better the 2nd time! The service is impeccable, the charm is out of this world and the garden is a necessity to either start your day with a cup of coffee or relax after strolling around the city. From the moment you step into the art filled entry, to the dark (but welcoming!) reception/bar area, you feel at home. The service is what you would expect at the glitzy hotels, but on a much more personal level. The rooms are to die for, especially one with a canal view! The beds are super comfy, the amenities are plentiful and the bathtub is almost worth the trip by itself! All of the rooms that I've seen have an old world charm to them, mixed well with all of the modern comfort you expect. The central location is perfect for getting anywhere in the city. Anne Frank House is right around the corner, plenty of restaurants, close to Dam Square and the cutest little shops all around. I would HIGHLY recommend staying here and plan to every time we make the trip to Amsterdam! Can't wait to go back!
