Just perfect

We have just returned from a 2 night stay at Canal house to celebrate my husbands 40th birthday. We are so pleased we chose Canal House over the 100’s of hotels we looked at as it was just perfect. Just a 10 minute walk from the train station and very close to all the main sights to see.

From the moment we arrived we were welcomed by Owen, the on duty manager who was outstanding and more than helpful. We had arrived early morning to the hotel and he arranged for us to check into our room early as it was ready. He explained all the main sights to see in Amsterdam and his favourite parts of the city. Before our stay I had emailed ahead to order a bottle of champagne to our room as a surprise for my husband and this was waiting for us in the room along with balloons and chocolates which was such a lovely touch. As we checked out we also received bottled water and brownies for our trip home, just fantastic. The customer service we received from all the members of staff was incredible, nothing was too much trouble and the knowledge they have of the city was extremely helpful to us.

The room we stayed in was on the top floor with beautiful views of the garden, very tranquil. The decor very stylish with lovely toiletries to use for our stay. If we were to return I wouldn’t take our own shampoo/shower gel etc as everything you needed was in the room, along with robes and slippers as an extra touch. The bed was extremely comfy, we slept amazingly!
In the mornings we received continental breakfast with huge croissants and delicious pastries, meats and fruit. There was an option to order hot food but we had more than enough with the selection already available.

All in all our stay was fantastic and it was the relaxed, chilled out break we needed and the Canal House definitely allowed us to achieve this. If we were ever to return to Amsterdam we would return to Canal House without a doubt!

Boutique luxury in central Amsterdam

During a recent trip we had the pleasure of staying for several days at this ideally located small hotel in the historic Jordaan area of Amsterdam. The hotel has nice moody decor throughout, which suits the old converted buildings and its location right on a canal. We enjoyed having a drink in the lounge bar after a day’s sightseeing. Friendly, accommodating staff at all times throughout our stay made our visit a pleasure.

Our room, while it didn’t face the canal, was still very comfortable and surprisingly spacious on the second floor. The rooms are all different and ramble across a couple of buildings. Some of rooms are only suitable for fit, agile guests as access is via steep narrow stairs. The hotel has quite a large large dining room for breakfast. The in-house restaurant no longer operates, but there are many interesting restaurants and bars around the hotel for eating and drinks. One surprise was the lush and tranquil rear courtyard garden where we enjoyed post touring drinks at the end of the day. Lovely in the warm weather we experienced. I would definitely stay here again if visiting Amsterdam and recommend it to discerning travellers.

Perfectly located and nicely decorated boutique hotel. You can reach all points of interest by foot. Friendly staff, nice breakfast and a beautiful garden to unwind in after a hectic day in the city. Be sure to stay in a room with canal view!
