How to Get There
“as a regular in Amsterdam I always stay in Canal House. It’s like coming back home every time I enter the door. The team is always very welcoming and helpful. They always have last updates about what’s new in town and where you should go for a drink or more. Even I have to go to my office every day I feel very relaxed and have a good sleep at night”
It was absolutelly spectacular stay. Beautiful room. We had a few drinks in bar, there was very good selection of drinks. Very friendly and helpfull staff. I would highly recommend Canal House to everyone!
We’ve stayed there just for one night but we had such a good time staying in this hotel. Everything was perfect. What we’ve enjoyed the most was the breakfast and bed, best bed ever.
Will stay there again once we are in Amsterdam.
As an avid work traveler to Amsterdam from San Francisco, I am so thrilled to have found the Canal House. Unlike other reviewers, I have stayed at this hotel for over 30 nights over the past several years, so can really speak to pros/cons.
The Canal House has the perfect blend of upscale rooms that you would expect from any 5 star hotel, combined with excellent personalized customer service.
-Very nice conversion of 3 original canal homes into a hotel
-cool bar/lounge in the front, perfect for pre/post dinner
-dining room/breakfast room. gorgeous. i also spread out my things on one of the tables during the weekend when i have to work
-back yard perfect for drinks in summer or quiet sun-room reading year-round
-Well-kept and decorated nicely
-Bed reminds me of W-Hotel bed, but better materials
-High-end bathing soaps that are all complimentary
-Fresh glass-bottled water by bed daily
-Doesn't get any better for both tourism and work.
-Close to the "main attractions" but far enough away to have a quiet peaceful stay on the canals.
-In the "more luxurious" part of town
-Very cool local bars (try T'smalle)
-Breakfast--straightforward high quality continental breakfast (best croissants) (you can also order additional items, but i never like to have massive breakfast)
-has a lot of the other services such as dry-cleaning
-awesome free DVD library with excellent selection
-Staff provides very personalized customer service
-If you are looking for big hotel with more in-house amenities such as Spa and Pool, then you will have to find outside the hotel (i never use those, so i dont miss them)
-all rooms are nice, but not all guests can be on the top floor...such is life...
All in all, I will continue to stay here and have recommended to many of my colleagues, friends, and family who have had equally such a great experience. Rare to find perfect the combination between a luxury hotel while keeping local charm alive; the Canal House does so.
We stayed for 2 nights in October. The weather was unseasonably warm and unfortunately this made the room too hot and stuffy- even with a fan and the windows open it was much too warm. Unfortunately the aircon didn’t work. Apart from that our stay was fabulous. The room was well appointed and had everything you need. The breakfast was ample and lovely and the staff could not be more helpful. It is very well situated for walking around the city, very close to Anne Frank Huis and the Rijksmuseum. I would definitely go back - in cooler weather !
