How to Get There
We just returned from a visit to Seaside Inn in Amelia Island. I have wanted to stay there for years and it was my Birthday weekend so we splurged. I was very disappointed with the inn. The front desk employees were not very professional. I was never asked if everything was satisfactory. The room showed wear and tear and the air conditioner made a noise every time it came on. The bath room grout had mold in the shower. The breakfast is not freshly made. I would never pay again to stay here. The location is the only thing it has going for it.
We have been coming to Seaside Amelia Inn for over 3 years and just visited over the 4th of July weekend for 4 nights and our hearts are broken. The entire staff is new and nowhere near the same . When you walked in before, you were always greeted warmly and it always felt like coming back home. The front staff is cold, does not acknowledge guests and seem bothered when you ask them for towels. Numerous guests complained of this as well. If you looked forward to their "southern style breakfast" of made to order eggs - that's gone too. They have cheese, western or plain "omelettes" that are shaped like footballs only not as tasty. They only place 10 beach umbrellas with two chairs underneath no matter if the hotel is at full capacity which it was on 4th of July weekend. It is a first come first serve free for all whenever the man the hotel hires to put them up shows up. Our room was cleaned once (our choice) and left dirty cups and empty pizza boxes on the coffee table. I never leave complaints on TA or any other sites unless I am very upset. It is the fact that this was our absolute favorite inn. The location cannot be beat, on the beach, they don't nickel and dime you, great bar and restaurant behind the hotel, super close to downtown. Not only are the freshly made eggs gone but so is their charm.
This is a nice hotel right on the beach. We have been coming here for several years and I am sad to say it is slipping a little. Overall it is still a good value for a beach stay.
The breakfast has slipped the most. It used to be that you could get eggs cooked anyway you liked but now seems they just serve pre made breakfast eggs like a mid range hotel with the free breakfast they offer. Rooms show a little age and there was a little mold in the shower grout. Beach chairs show a lot of age with tears, but are still serviceable. We will probably give them one more chance on our next trip but after that we will have to look elsewhere unless they step up their game.
