How to Get There
Our room was excellent. We were on the first floor with a room that opened up to the pool area. The pool itself is nothing to write home about, but hey your 50 yards from the ocean so who needs a pool.
Breakfast was very good. Made to order omelets, fresh fruit, great coffee.
We loved our visit and can't wait to go back.
This was our second visit. We LOVE THIS PLACE. We had a ground floor suite overlooking the pool, very roomy, bathroom was a nice size, full refrigerator, two burner stovetop, microwave, comfy sofa, two flat screen TVs (one in living room/one in bedroom). This place does not nickel and dime you - beach chairs and umbrellas are set up on the beach at no charge. Free parking, free wifi, free made to order breakfast, free use of their computer and fax machine. Rooftop is a nice place to have a drink and watch the sunset (byob). Sandbar next door is a great place to get a drink or munchie. Downtown is a straight shot up the street where there are plenty of restaurants and bars to choose from. Hotel staff is tops, everyone greets you with a smile and goes beyond to make your stay perfect. No safes in rooms but they have a safety deposit box at the front desk you can stash your valuables and cash. There is no other place we would rather stay when visiting Amelia Island. We had a great time and the highlight was the beautiful beach and ocean water which was super clean and warm. I wish I was there right now. Can't wait to go back. Please don't change a thing Seaside Amelia Inn.

From the reviews on TripAdvisor, you'd think Seaside Amelia is a lucky find - somehow an affordable place to stay, with a free breakfast, right on the beach. And it *is* those things. However, it's a budget hotel. Knowing this now, I did not have the right expectations going into our stay and we ended up cancelling (major credit to the hotel staff who were extremely polite in handling this).
We cancelled for a few reasons: Booking.com really showed our room as a 2 bedroom (it was only 2 beds) - disappointing. There was no outdoor access/balcony and the room was very small, stale. The carpet in the hallway was stained (not just a little) and dirty. The door to our room was beaten up (like dented as though someone had been punching it). The toilet in our room was streaked and looked filthy, old. Sitting on the pullout couch (which, turned out, was our "2nd bed"), it was uncomfortable, stiff, and noisy. The location was also not what we were expecting - a residential area, away from other resorts, etc. The "kitchenette" was a small mini fridge and a microwave. Barely enough to hold a carton of my daughter's milk plus my husband's beer (essentials). Our "ocean view" room was mostly looking at the parking lot.
If I had gone into this stay looking for something along the lines of a Days Inn, this would fit the bill. However, we were hoping for a family vacation in a comfortable room that was clean and mid-range. Seaside Amelia is not that.
All this being said, our limited engagement with the staff (check-in and then cancellation) was flawless, so kudos to them on that front.
Just returned from our 2nd visit to Seaside and I cannot say enough how friendly everyone is at this hotel; all employees are great. The people you meet on the beach or at the Sandbar restaurant adjacent to the hotel or just about anywhere on the island are all so nice.
The hotel is very well maintained and has nice artwork throughout the lobby and common area where they serve a full breakfast.
The old town has many good restaurants and interesting, quirky shops and is only 2 miles away. We liked having the Sandbar restaurant next door, steps away, with live music on the outdoor beach bar 6 nights a week. We ate there 3 out of 4 days.
The parking is free and very close to the lobby and elevators. Everything is very and simple here compared to Miami or other big cities. This is not a party town but if you seek a quiet, beautiful, olf Florida experience, this is a great option.
We stayed both visits on the north side of the hotel with a balcony room. The 3rd top floor has the best views. the best room is #325. closest to the beach but 323, 321, etc. all have balconies and great views of the ocean and the spectacular morning sunrise. However the north side overlooks both a city park which while scenic it does have noise from cars in the city parking lot at times and the various delivery trucks for the restaurant come early in the morning but that did not bother us and we keep the balcony door open at all times to sleep to the sound of the surf.
I have vacationed all over Florida and this is the only place I will go back to.
