How to Get There
The inn is a nice quiet place to enjoy the beach. The breakfast was delicious and the staff was very friendly. Whether your sitting on the beach or searching for shells you will enjoy Seaside Amelia Inn.
The Inn is located almost directly on the beach, right next to a park, and has a small parking garage in back. The Sand Bar restaurant, with good burgers, live music in the evening, and a great view, is just behind the hotel, so very convenient. Bicycles are available for rent, so it's easy to bike down to downtown Fernandina Beach.
We upgraded to the Pool View Studio, and were assigned to Room 314, right next to the elevator. We could hear the elevator bell everytime it stopped, and conversations in the hallway. If they sealed the door, it would help a lot.
The room was fully equipped with a mini fridge, coffee pot, small closet and chair, but you had to be lying in bed, looking sideways to see the TV.
They promise coffee 24 hours a day, but on a cold and windy day in March, there was none available at 4:00 in the afternoon.
Eggs are made to order at breakfast and they are delicious, and the breakfast area is bright and sunny.
The staff is very nice and helpful, and with the great location, I would stay again, but not in room 314.
My wife and I stayed in this hotel for a quick getaway. Our first-floor room had a harsh chemical smell to it when we arrived. We notified the desk and they moved us to another room which was greatly appreciated. Our room had a king bed that was comfortable but the television in the room was around 21 inches and very difficult to watch. If you are looking for an ocean view this is not the hotel for you. From our room we could see the ocean but had a large restaurant right across the street from us blocking our view. We paid a premium price of $225.00 a night for our small room with minimal ocean view, the cleanliness was mediocre at best and needed to be improved. This room and hotel are showing its wear and tear throughout and is dated. Many doors have deep scrapes and large scratches in them, carpet is torn in several places, stuff splashed on the walls that have not been cleaned in the hallways etc. The pool had issues with the marcite and several tiles were missing from the pool and the pool was extremely small. The location of the hotel is right across the street from the beach and Sliders restaurant and is in a great location. The beach was perfect our entire visit and the best part is it has minimal vehicle traffic. The location is next to a busy road and you hear the road noise all night. You are paying a high price for this hotel and its location but it is not worth the price. The hotel does serve breakfast in the morning and is on par with other hotels such as Hampton Inn. They served scrambled eggs, sausage links, potatoes and sausage gravy and biscuits, fruits, bagels and waffles. Many of the items are frozen and just heated up. The floor we were located on was extremely noises during the late hours of the night. On more than one occasion guests close to our room were asked to quite it down after midnight. This hotel has plenty of opportunity for improvement but for now I would look elsewhere. The best part of our stay was the front desk staff, especially the Guest Service Manger. She was always pleasant and extremely nice as was the young lady who took care of the breakfast. They both were fantastic.
Location is convenient to beach and parks. We had an ocean view room on the second floor. While we could see the ocean beyond the parking lot and park out a side window , the back windows had a view of the wall and roof of a beachfront restaurant. The room was clean but in need of updating. There is a small bathroom with shower and a small bedroom with teeny, tiny desk. The sitting room has a chair and sofa and second TV. Cooked to order breakfast was nice. The internet/cable was spotty. Construction was going on in the room across the hall from us that was quite loud and disturbing. By the second day we had enough and asked for a different room. There were none and we were permitted to cut our stay short with a discount given but not for the full amount for that night we weren’t going to stay.
My previous stay here a few years ago was fine, but don’t plan to return.
This facility is located at the beach, with easy access to the town and other attractions. Rooms are more "european" in size, and might not be for everyone. But if you plan to be out and about, it doesnt matter. Rooms are fully equipped and the lobby, pool, and seaside bar/ restaurant are right there. Best of all, a friendly and helpful staff.
