Not 5 star and you not get the room you pay for!
Reviewed 4 days ago

Shabby little room which honestly will between 2/3 star! The furniture was all chipboard, bed was two single beds put together and the linen was one awful. Immediately informed the front desk and they finally gave another room - they called this an upgrade but we showed the pictures and said we actually ordered!

Then had to pay €25 pppd for sauna/steam room, again was not in the description which clearly states it includes it!

Next, my mother-in-law went through the same thing about her room. Then brother in law finally arrived and encountered the exact same thing! They asked for the room they paid for and the manager said that should be an 'upgrade' and we showed them our booking. he asked for an additional €150 per night for the actual room we had already paid for!! My brother in law's family includes a baby of 5 months and a child of 3.

The manager then said he will 'invite us' for our coffees and make sure they are taken of our bill which also did not happen!

When we left the hotel they decided to add on all additional charges including the coffees which were meant to have been paid for by the hotel but he left zero instructions and was conveniently absent when we were checking out so we had to argue the point again!

An insult to injury was when they asked for the babies to also pay for their stay even thought they got the wrong room, in the wrong bed size as they 'used the linen' which was the same shabby bed!

Wow that view

Loved our rooms view -amazing. Busy hotel with tour groups and weddings but the staff were still attentive and extremely helpful. we were not sure of area but by the time we left we loved the close towns and knew how to get around - walking, shuttles, taxis, trains and buses. A fun holiday.

Amazing view

The view from the hotel is amazing and the parking arrangement is good. The breakfast is pretty good also. The hotel could do with some renovation. We got a room that looked much worse than any of the rooms advertised online, tiny and outdated. It could definitely use some freshening up. Another oddity was that our room was called at around 2 in the morning and none of the staff could find out why or who did this which felt pretty creepy. The pool was full of leaves and should probably be cleaned more regularly.

Fabulous and amazing!

This was my first trip to Amalfi despite having lived in Italy for 5 years. We arrived with our 8 month old baby. I will say that after reading some of the reviews on trip advisor, we didn’t know what to expect. Let me straight away say that ANYONE who had anything bad to say about this hotel either doesn’t travel well or is a serial complainer. This is one of the best hotels I have been to in Italy! It is everything you would expect from a 5 star hotel.

We were given the best room available and the baby cot was set up in advance. We had a huge terrace and amazing view. They even allowed us to check in early, 11am already! The place is spotlessly clean! Parking is free with easy access. Our breakfast was amazing, they cooked fresh omelets and boiled our eggs by request. The dinning patio has the best view you can imagine. The spa is nice and you can use the indoor pool without extra charge.

Reception staff, restaurant staff and the house keeping always met us with a smile, not the fake “over to top” service you sometimes get in 5 star hotels but genuine interest and friendly small talk. Nothing was too much trouble! It was my bday during our stay and they delivered a freshly made chocolate cake. On our last day we were allowed to do a late check out at 15,00 without any extra charges.

We will be back again Sept / Oct time and will stay here for sure! Thank you for everything and for making our holiday amazing!

Manage your expectations...

Having booked a deluxe sea view room, the largest and best type of double room in this 5 star hotel, we were told we had only booked a de luxe partial sea view although our booking paperwork showed full sea view, I wondered why the receptionist argued about this when the hotel was only 10% full but she did.

We were shown to a room with a lovely view, albeit partial, and balcony but a very small room with a minute bathroom - felt like an ordinary room in a 3 star hotel. On complaining we were moved next door to an acceptable size room, but hardly my expectation of a 5 star de-luxe room, nevertheless it was OK - ordinary, modern chain style hotel room with a single armchair in the corner .... until we went to bed. The bed was a pair of hard coil sprung mattresses on a wooden base with no comfort whatsoever, there were hard synthetic pillows and only a sheet and counterpane to cover you, given the time of year we were freezing as well as uncomfortable. I left wondering what the cheaper classic and superior rooms could be like.

On the plus side the hotel location and food were good, but be aware this is not really the Amalfi coast, its south of Amalfi and over looks the bay and city of Salerno.
