The Lowdown

La dolce vita doesn’t get much sweeter than this. Clinging to a hillside that overlooks the azure Bay of Salerno, and surrounded by scented lemon groves, Hotel Raito is a heavenly slice of Amalfi with a glamorous Riviera appeal. Bright and spacious bedrooms offer stunning views of the breathtaking coastline and bay, while around the hotel you’ll find plenty of spots to soak up the surroundings. For starters, try the two outdoor pools with sun terraces and elegant outdoor restaurant with panoramic vistas.
You’ll feel blissful after a pampering session in the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence winner’s ExPure Spa, with its heated indoor pool, sauna, wealth of massage treatments and more. If you fancy a break from utter relaxation, the hotel is well-placed for exploring the beautiful Amalfi coast and its many highlights. The bellissima town of Vietri sul Mare is just a short ride away on the hotel’s free shuttle bus and holds a wealth of ceramic shops and places to eat and drink.

Rooms

Superior Sea View rooms command stunning full views across the Gulf of Salerno and the Amalfi Coast and boast private furnished balconies, from which you can drink up the vista with a refreshment in hand. They are spacious, flooded with light through French windows and furnished in an elegant and modern décor.

Dining

There are a couple of dining options at Hotel Raito, the most impressive being the spectacular à la carte Il Golfo Ristorante. This is one of the most renowned restaurants on the Amalfi Coast and certainly one of the most beautiful, with its wide, panoramic terrace overlooking the bay.

Spa

The hotel’s ExPure spa is a well-equipped sanctuary of beauty and wellness, featuring a heated indoor pool, whirlpool, sauna and Turkish bath. A range of treatments can be enjoyed inside the spa or al fresco on the private terrace, with to-die-for panoramic sea views.

Amalfi coast ....loved it!

Wonderful place. Spacious room, friendly staff. Food was 4 out of 5. Great views sitting outside. We loved having a cocktail at night overlooking the bay. The only thingI did not like was the elevators were confusing to different patts of the hotel....I have a bad back and you had to walk to the pool area...great burgers by the way!

Good hotel, amazing views

We have stayed one night after traveling the Amalfi great road .
The Deluxe room with sea view was a big and comfortable room, with amazing view from the balcony (especially the sunrise),
Front desk team service was good and polite, breakfast was ok, various choices.
Free parking is also a benefit.
Outdoor pool was closed due to off season, the indoor pool is part of the SPA and cost additional 25 Euro per person.
Relaxing place in the area

Your stay at this hotel will depend on what room you book

We booked a room with a sea view which appears to be in a newer section of this hotel. The only way to access our rooms was to take an outdoor elevator and go down a couple of levels. The older section of the hotel, accessible through indoor elevators is just that-older and without the "newness" of the sea view rooms. The dining and reception area of the hotel is beautiful and I can see how they can provide outstanding wedding receptions. A wedding reception was going on the evening we arrived and it appeared that everyone was having a great time. The photo opportunities from the balconies are endless.
If you are older, as we are, you must be careful in the bathroom as the floor tile is slippery when wet as is the tub. The tub, which is a whirlpool tub, is higher and you have to step high to get in or out. The half door shower can make the floor to the bath very wet if you are not careful. No grab bars as you might find in hotels in the States.
Personnel are all friendly and helpful with some broken English. Valets were friendly and efficient and wait staff in the dining area were efficient.
The included breakfast was good except for the eggs. We were told Italians don't eat eggs for breakfast and I guess it follows that they don't know how to cook them either. The croissants with a dollop of lemon cream on top of them were outstanding and made up for the eggs. Coffee Americano, juices, and fruit were all very good.
Don't drive here. Everybody is nuts. We were on a 50 passenger bus, came around a corner and found another bus coming towards us. Passing the other bus on a one and a half lane road, was a tiny car who found that the space between our bus and the rock wall was narrower than his car. Took a while to sort that out and get us going.again. Good thing nobody on the bus spoke Italian or our ears would have been red.

Just one final thought, pay the extra for a Sea View Room and you will get the five star experience.

Spent almost 2 weeks at the Raito - part of it on a National Trust tour. Definitely a 5 star hotel - professional and friendly staff, beautiful décor, excellent restaurant and incomparable views. Arrangements are easily made to get to and from local restaurants or any place else in the vicinity. The bartenders pride themselves on high quality cocktails - try the Negroni.

5 stars - great experience!

We stayed three nights and had a wonderful time. The staff, especially Graziela at the front desk, was very knowledgeable about the public transportation and where to go for the ferry’s and various restaurants. They even had bus tickets and ferry schedules which made it very easy for us to plan out excursions to Capri, Positano and Amalfi.

We enjoyed our omelets and breakfast and certainly indulged in the croissants as well! Vinchenzo provided us tremendous service every morning. The property is beautiful and right next to one of the bus stops overlooking Salerno. Amazing views, all clean rooms, great people! We cannot wait to go back! 5 stars!
