Overview

A five-star hillside hotel and spa on the Amalfi Coast, with sea views, breakfast and more

The Lowdown

La dolce vita doesn’t get much sweeter than this. Clinging to a hillside that overlooks the azure Bay of Salerno, and surrounded by scented lemon groves, Hotel Raito is a heavenly slice of Amalfi with a glamorous Riviera appeal. Bright and spacious bedrooms offer stunning views of the breathtaking coastline and bay, while around the hotel you’ll find plenty of spots to soak up the surroundings. For starters, try the two outdoor pools with sun terraces and elegant outdoor restaurant with panoramic vistas.
You’ll feel blissful after a pampering session in the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence winner’s ExPure Spa, with its heated indoor pool, sauna, wealth of massage treatments and more. If you fancy a break from utter relaxation, the hotel is well-placed for exploring the beautiful Amalfi coast and its many highlights. The bellissima town of Vietri sul Mare is just a short ride away on the hotel’s free shuttle bus and holds a wealth of ceramic shops and places to eat and drink.

Rooms

Superior Sea View rooms command stunning full views across the Gulf of Salerno and the Amalfi Coast and boast private furnished balconies, from which you can drink up the vista with a refreshment in hand. They are spacious, flooded with light through French windows and furnished in an elegant and modern décor.

Dining

There are a couple of dining options at Hotel Raito, the most impressive being the spectacular à la carte Il Golfo Ristorante. This is one of the most renowned restaurants on the Amalfi Coast and certainly one of the most beautiful, with its wide, panoramic terrace overlooking the bay.

Spa

The hotel’s ExPure spa is a well-equipped sanctuary of beauty and wellness, featuring a heated indoor pool, whirlpool, sauna and Turkish bath. A range of treatments can be enjoyed inside the spa or al fresco on the private terrace, with to-die-for panoramic sea views.

Location

This seafront hotel is located on a cliffside above the town of Vietri sul Mare. Excursions to Capri, Positano and neighboring Amalfi towns can be arranged from Salerno harbor, just five minutes away.

Hotel Raito

Great location with amazing views over Vietri and Salerno. Bit of drive into Amalfi, Positano and other locations from this location. We did day trips but consider moving along the coast after a couple days in Vietri. More to see near Amalfi and Positano.

Front desk staff were very good Francesca & Lidia. Very helpfull and polite. Thanks to both.

Rooms were fine but not quite what you would expect for a 5* Hotel.
The bathrooms are small and the showers are a bit outdated. Great view from one of our rooms but the other room was dark and depressing as not enough natural light. We did however get a paid upgrade due to cancellation after two nights with a great sea view. Suggest you always get a sea view in this hotel.

Cleaning staff was also very good and helped out where required one day when we had quite a few ants in the room.

Breakfast was good but the quality of eggs (omelettes and fried eggs ) were to be questioned on some days as very bad quality in my opinion from a 5* Hotel chef.

Giovanni was brilliant in the restaurant every morning and overall the serving staff were very good.
The lady making the crepes pancakes and waffles was superb and the quality was very good.

The Spa facilities we could not use as they are charged per day per person which we felt should not be the case. Also this was not mentioned on booking.com !

Also there was no complimentary water in the room bearing in mind we did pay quite high rates thinking its a 5* hotel

The hotel shuttle bus into town was very convenient but not many good restaurants in town. One place you must visit is the Devina Pizza place ...a must.

Ernesto who helps at front desk and also drives the shuttle bus was very helpful and always attentive. Thank you Ernesto

Overall the Hotel is very good. The views are 5* but I would say the hotel is good 4* bearing in mind the room sizes, bathroom size etc.

Beautiful location - but...

This hotel is beautifully located with stunning views. Pool area is super nice - but do to facing south - sun disappears from pool already around 5pm.

Hotel rooms are OK standard but too expensive compared to quality. We had two rooms at the end of the building which led to poor views from the balcony.

Hotel is not clean enough vs price. Pool area is poorly maintained and you can find leftovers from drinks and snacks by the sunbeds. Also a gartner is needed as some plants looks old and sick. We found garbage around the premises.

The hotel is located 10 min drive out of the city and the road is dangerous. This means that you need to either drive or book the hotel shuttle. Unfortunately the hotel is very limited on how many seats and return trips they wish to do with the suttle which means that it gets occupied fast and if you don't book in the morning you risk may not getting a seat.

Waiters are nice but they seem under-educated. During the (small and average) morning breakfast buffet they don't remove old dishes from the table and it takes forever to get a cappucino. One morning we ordered eggs and waited almost 25 min!

I think this hotel could be amazing - but management needs to be more atteding on staff and do more "rounds" on the premises with new eyes.

Fantastic holiday

Having decided to try somewhere other than a rather crowded Sorrento this year we went to Vietri Sul Mar. The Hotel Raito certainly didnt disappoint. Very friendly and helpful staff. Our room was large with a huge terrace, with a really comfortable bed. Food and service in hotel was superb including the local motzarella di buffalo. Local Prosecco "45" was delicious and affordable.
I will certainly be returning next year. One final comment. I left behind an unopened and expensive bottle of Joe Malone perfume on a sofa in reception. Within 4 days of enquiring if anyone at the hotel had seen it-it arrived back to my home address in UK in tact. An amazing service. 5 star resort.
