How to Get There
This establishment was the best hotel we stayed at during our one week Amalfi coast trip and perhaps one of the best we've ever experienced.
Along the Amalfi coast I wasn't taking any chances, I wanted a hotel that had free parking.
At first we could not find the place as there is a small sign on a hard to find gate which leads downwards, along the cliff. This parking lot was spacious and covered by vines, very nice.
The walk down the asphalt path to the hotel entrance is a bit of an effort but there's no choice on this cliff. We were greeted by a very nice young man named "Massimo". What a nice, friendly and anxious to please reception person! He would prove to be an angel throughout our stay.
While checking in he offered us to relax and sit in the dining room while he processed our passports. We were offered refreshments, a cool drink and a croissant. What a nice touch for the weary traveler! Just based on this extra bonus service, I would give this hotel 5 stars but wait, more good things to come.
The view and hotel lobby was spotless, clean, well designed and maintained. We sat on the balcony, admiring the view when Massimo called us over to the counter.
We checked in to a beautiful, sea front room, or should I call it an almost suite. Well designed decor white, clean colors, just fabulous!
It was very modern (hydraulic FPD (Flat Panel Display) TV that ascended from the table in front of the bed, and yet old style design using quality materials. You can "feel" the quality here.
The room was perfect with rather large, terracotta balcony, just wonderful.
There was an electrical teapot in the room and basics for preparing tea or coffee.
We were not that hungry so we asked Mr. Excellent once again, (Massimo) if he had a disposable plate or bowl as we wanted to make a green salad. He asked a waiter to assist us. This waiter handed me a tray, cutlery wrapped in cloth napkins, two large bowls and two brand new bottles of Olive oil and Wine Vinegar! Did I ask for such an offering? No, disposable paper plates would have been enough but once again Massimo and this hotel showed tremendous graciousness to us. I hope this review does not get him into trouble with the hotel management.
So, we made a tossed salad in the room and it was fantastic.
The Hotel also offers slippers and a plush, terrycloth bathrobe.
The bathroom was clean, modern and very comfortable wherein, finally, the designers placed a shower stall with glass that would prevent water from spraying all over the place as one sees in some very modern and minimalist hotels. This is yet again, a well thought out feature. Bravo to the planners!
This hotel also had an extra bonus. Besides the pool they provide a taxi type service from the hotel to the 13th-century, Moorish-style Villa Rufolo that has offers far-reaching views from its terraced gardens, and hosts indoor and outdoor concerts during the popular summertime Ravello Festival. The taxi dropped us off at this relatively close site but the ride was in a 1966 mini van which was quaint and very entertaining. Depending on the hour you wish to arrive they will take you to and from the old town. What a great additional bonus!
We slept soundly on very comfortable beds and woke to a spectacular sunrise.
All in all this was a superb experience from all perspectives. We ate a very ample breakfast and this concluded our stay. The facility, is great, the services fantastic and the people manning the reception (again, Massimo) made our stay PERFECT. I hope the management at this hotel promotes Massimo!
This hotel is unique. It is a small boutique hotel. The views are superb, the staff amazing, breakfast was great. The rooms were spacious, the balcony was massive, the beds were very comfortable. I want to make a special shout out to the front desk manager Fabrizio Viscido who was very courteous and helpful with any questions we had. He also helped is with our transportation.
After a couple of weeks of travel, we decided that this would be our place to wind down and really relax. The room was amazing, relaxing, spacious, and we loved our basement bathroom. The staff were friendly, accommodating, thoughtful, and kind. The breakfast was amazing and included great options - healthy and indulgent. Ravello is a great place to stay too, great pizza, nice walking, and views. It’s easy to get to Amalfi, Positano, and area villages as well, either by hiking, by bus, and even ferry.
The views were breathtaking. This hotel is highly recommended.
