Disappointment
Reviewed 4 days ago

We had a rough experience with Casa Angelina, but I will start by saying they handled it extremely well and we ultimately left happy that they accommodated our desires.

We arrived and after one night wanted to leave (despite booking a stay for 4 days). Our main issues with this hotel were the following:
- It is located in Praiano, which is a sleepy town and too far from Positano. They advertise that it’s a 10 minute transfer to Positano but it is not and they don’t make it easy to get there. They have a shuttle that runs once per hour which isn’t frequent enough and they drop you off on the side of the cliff road with busy traffic and about another 15-20 min walk to your destination in Positano.
- For a 5 star hotel, the services they booked were not 5 star. Other 5 star hotels when you ask them to book you a transfer, send a brand new Mercedes, they give you cold water, driver speaks English, etc. This hotel booked us an older car, driver spoke no English, showed up very late, and he didn’t give us water for a 5 hour car ride. We also booked a guided tour of the Path of the Gods and the guy transported us in what felt like a 15 year old Subaru and didn’t speak English. Additionally the property advertises they have a beach, but it’s a shared public beach (a 5 star hotel should be private) and it requires walking down 300-400 steps (and then back up those same steps on the way back). Just not 5 star.
- Of slightly less importance, but the hotel vibe reminded me of Yotel (which is not a high end hotel in Nyc). Everything is stark white and felt sterile and out of place for its surroundings. At night they have these tacky colored lights that make it feel like a nightclub.
- The staff didn’t speak English well enough. They constantly kept saying they didn’t understand me.

Because of the above reasons, we asked to leave the hotel and instead booked a hotel last minute in the center of Positano. The hotel manager let us cancel the remainder of our stay and refunded us our money, which was much appreciated.

We had also had a problem with the driver they booked who arrived late and caused us to miss our boat to Sorrento. They therefore booked us a private boat to Sorrento and paid for it, which was several hundred dollars.

Ultimately, we were pleased with how they handled these difficult situations, but at the end of the day, this caused us a lot of disappointment during our trip.

A wonderful stay off the beaten track

We decided to stay in this wonderful hotel instead of crowded Positano, and we are glad we did! Nestled into a cliff in the small town of Praiano (just past Positano on the road South), this boutique hotel felt modern and hip. Our room had a wonderful view, and a very comfortable bed. The buffet breakfast was incredible, on the rooftop of the hotel. The pool was small, but tucked nicely onto the deck that overlooked the sea. They also offer a complimentary shuttle to Positano, which we took advantage of. There is not much to do in Praiano, but that is good thing, as the town is not overcrowded, and there were plenty of nice restaurants to choose from. We chose not to go to the beach club (down about 300 steps from the hotel) due to it being loud and crowded.

Stunning hotel inside and out

The hotel is as beautiful in person as it is on their website and Instagram posts.
The white decor is calming, the views from inside and out serene. All employees were extremely polite and helpful. We especially enjoyed our interactions with the pool and bar staff. The breakfast buffet was phenomenal, the best we've ever experienced. We had lunch everyday by the pool, also phenomenal. We walked into town two nights for dinner, a short walk up 70-80 steps. One night we took the shuttle bus into Positano, which was very convenient. The concierge staff was very helpful with dinner reservations, taxis and outings. Half my party enjoyed the pool while the other half enjoyed the beach area. Its about 200 steps down to the beach, but very much worth the walk. The various blue colors of the water are gorgeous. The pool is quieter than the beach. The beach has music, a younger crowd, a watermelon party at 4 pm. Yes, this hotel is on the expensive side but you definitely will not regret your decision. CasaAngelina is a very special place.

Heaven on Earth

My husband and I just recently spent 5 nights at this incredible hotel during our 3 week holiday in Italy!
We had a beautiful suite overlooking the Amalfi Coast and Positano which is only 10 minutes by car. We were truly spoilt with incredible attention to detail during our entire stay!
We highly recommend this resort for couples who don’t want to be right in the hustle and bustle of Positano! The option of the hotel pool for a quiet relaxing day or the party vibe of the beach club below made it suitable for our needs on various days!
The pool side dining was lovely for a casual meal, whilst the restaurant upstairs was a much more decadent choice.
Overall a wonderful experience. Thank you again for having us, we hope to come back again soon.

You haven’t lived until you stay here!

There aren’t enough positive words to describe our three night stay at Casa Angelina.

While we were planning our Amalfi Coast trip our friends all said “stay in Positano - La Sireneuse, San Pietro...” the obvious. We are so glad we did or own research and chose Casa Angelina.

Arriving at night you see just how spectacular the property is - lit up in a warm and romantic way. From the first step onto the grounds the staff is at your service. The entire place is as clean as can be, with fresh flowers and beautiful artwork placed just-so.

The breakfast...OUT OF THIS WORLD. The best breakfast ever. Order the pancakes...they should be illegal they’re so good!

Every night we were welcomed back to our room with a turn down surprise...chocolates, rose petals...

We wish upon everyone the chance to stay at Casa Angelina at least once in their lifetime. I hope we have the opportunity to return one day.
