Lovely hotel
Reviewed 4 months ago

We stayed at this lovely hotel for 3 nights in a standard room unfortunately we booked late and all other rooms were unavailable. It was a little noisy as it fronts the street and people are always walking by. That said we were exhausted by the time we got to bed it didn’t really bother us. The staff are just so nice and hospitable they will do anything to help out which makes your stay very comfortable. Lovely pool on the rooftop and great breakfast all you need with the most magnificent views. Lovely to have a drink as the sun goes down with magnificent views. Get ready for lots & lots of walking those stairs are a killer especially after a long day then dinner, good way to get fit!! Would recommend this hotel we thoroughly enjoyed it.

Lovely Property and Staff

Room was magnificent: large room with a balcony overlooking the sea. The view was stunning. Staff extremely helpful, especially Francesca. Breakfast buffet had everything you could want. Cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. Great place to stay.

Couples

I am waffling between a 3 & 4 on this hotel. The staff is great and did all they could to resolve my disappointment when we checked in. Initially I booked the suite ( of which they have 2) for 650 euros per night . The suite was located at the end of the hall on the second floor. I expected an unobstructed view but that was not the case. The building across the street was getting a new roof. Even if they weren’t getting a new roof the view includes wires , roof tiles & tv antennas. We spent two nights in the suite and then we were offered a superior deluxe room . That was actually significantly better than the suite. First because it was on the third floor and had an unobstructed view and the fee was 420 euros per night which I felt was more in line with the hotel. I see great deals for this hotel online but assume you are getting a basic room. Verify the type of room you are booking so you don’t end up disappointed.
The location is great, views from the third floor and oool area are wonderful. We didn’t hear any road noise inside the room.

Good, But Could Be Better

This is a decent hotel that is made exponentially better by Francesca at the front desk.

We stayed in one of the rooms with the jacuzzi on the balcony, which is on the second floor. The room itself wasn't bad, but it was definitely dated, in fact the whole hotel could use a bit of a refresh/renovation. Again, not bad, but it's all just a little tired. For example, our toilet was consistently problematic and their were some stains on the couch/furniture.

In terms of the view, our room suffered from the fact that while the others had railings, ours had a wall, which meant that if you sat in the loungers you completely lost the view. Additionally, and this has been noted before, some of the antennae and equipment from the building across the street create a bit of an obstruction. My advice would be to forgo the jacuzzi in exchange for an unobstructed third floor view.

Another minor frustration was that the breakfast area was over run by bees each morning, meaning that our vision of enjoying a relaxing breakfast while gazing out at the water was replaced by either sitting inside or nervously shooing the bees away from your table/food while you ate it as quickly as possible. This isn't the hotels fault, but it greatly impacts the experience, so I would have liked to see them try to do something about it/attract them to the other end of the terrace.

At the end of the day, nothing was wrong enough to complain (aside from the plumbing issues), but I think that if we returned to Positano, we'd likely try somewhere else.

But again Francesca was an absolute delight.

A wonderful stay

I can't recommend the Punta Regina any higher. The hotel is outstanding from top to bottom.

The staff is exceptionally outgoing, warm and friendly. They clearly take notes, as each staff member seemed to know about things we had inquired about with other employees. For example, we asked one employee in the morning to make a restaurant reservation for us - a different employee that afternoon, unprompted, gave us advice on the best way to get to the restaurant and when to leave to make our reservation on time. They were also particularly helpful with guidance on the Path of the Gods hike.

The hotel's pool terrace is a gem, with outstanding views of the water and the surrounding town and hillsides. Truly a great place to take a dip and enjoy a cocktail while taking in the view. Since the hotel is just a bit up the road from the center of town, the tourist foot traffic is lighter, making it a more peaceful experience than some of the hotels situated in the madness down by the pier.

We stayed in the standard room, which was a great size, with lots of character and modern amenities. We didn't experience any of the traffic noise issues some people have complained about with the standard room.

Our only regret is that we didn't stay longer!
